Good day! Good afternoon! This entry is a bit different, because I'm the person running this information centre! It's an honor to meet you, my name is Vaika!

I'm Piper Division's irratio caster, and a secretary eager to deliver knowledge and questions to anyone within the Koopa Kingdom. My posts have been a mixed bag, however from this point forward I will stop posting ooc content. (Ludwig isn't really fond of making the information centre my "girl blog" or something..)

Star Children Theory

Every Koopaling is based on the stars in some capacity. Named after famous music stars, Morton's habit of painting on a star on his face, Larry's star shaped mole, Lemmy's crescent moons marks.

They were here before Bowser Jr, without Bowser having any hints of a relationship. Without a reasonable way to get an heir.

what else has seven stars in the Mario universe?

(actually a lot of things, but let's focus on something relevant to the theory)

a literal game about granting wishes!

My theory is this: Koopalings are a result of Bowser's wish to prolong the koopa kingdom when he's gone.

Without any heirs (yet), without anyone worthy in Bowser's eyes to run this place when he's gone, with Mario's shenanigans being a proper threat. What's Bowser going to do if he suddenly disappears? He won't give the throne to a nobody who will ruin the kingdom Bowser takes such pride in!

So, calling Koopalings his children and his commanders is both correct. They're the kingdom's future support, a group of koopas without whom Junior would've been driven into oblivion. Technically, they come from Bowser's wish, so you can interpret it both as biological children, and unrelated successors.

TL;DR

Bowser's Koopalings are a direct result from a fulfilled Star Road wish to prolong the prosperity of the Koopa Kingdom. This explains the star themed design on the Koopalings, and is another motivation for Bowser to help in Super Mario RPG - he tried wishing and it had worked! almost too well! (seven kids is a lot)
