The importance of Love in the httyd-trilogy

Love is one of the major themes in the httyd-trilogy since the first film. Love between Hiccup and his dad, romantic love like Hiccup and Astrid or love between best friends like Hiccup and Toothless. But the theme of Love really got it’s time to shine in the final movie with the theme that Love not only is beautiful but also can curse loss. The httyd-trilogy teaches us from beginning to end with what love comes and sometimes it doesn’t have a happy ending. But we still go on like Hiccup after the death of his father or when Toothless and he part ways. It also showed us that love and loss comes as a backache. One without the other wouldn’t be possible and this, understands this trilogy perfectly.

A TV-Show between httyd 2 and 3

I have honestly nothing against a series that’s based on the comics from Dean DeBlois and Richard Hamilton, we also would then finally get the fire tides, that plays again between two movies as long as if it doesn’t ruin the ending of the franchise and as long as they would put it on Netflix and not on Peacock. Because we all know what happened as they put their shows on peacock, they were doomed.

I also would take the producer of Chaos Theory take over the show. They have proven that they can really nail it without any issues in the lore and also a Httyd show in the tone of chaos theory would just be great, because it would also again appeal to the older fans of the franchise. I think if they would put the money, they invested in the live action in a new show it would be smarter. I think DeBlois will be faithful to the live action because he loves the httyd-trilogy as much as all the fans do, but still something about the thought of a live action feels wrong. Of course not everyone would be on board, I am myself skeptical as well. But if the people of Universal are so desperate to milk this unique, fantastic franchise then please do it right. So everyone would get something out of it.

Can’t wait to finally experience the wild robot in Cinema!

But in my country it will earn on October the 3th, so I have to wait a bit longer. I am so excited because everyone says this is the best DreamWorks movie ever made and also the box office counting had begun. I‘ve heard it’s a tragic dark story but with friendliness and love to it, that warms everyone’s hearts.

At the same time it’s also very sad that this is the last in house DreamWorks movie that will be produced. The end of an Era, indeed. I am very sad because of this because DreamWorks was since I was a little girl my favorite studio. Hell they produced my favorite trilogies like httyd, KFP and Madagascar and many other phenomenal movies like puss in boots: the last wish, Rise of the Guardians, Spirit, Shrek, the prince of Egypt and many more. And really let me Love the medium of Animation.

The httyd3 debate

Just a respectful defense from someone who loves all the movies and thinks this is a good ending to the story.

I personally think we don’t have to criticize the crab out of everything. Yeah we can be sometimes critical but we don’t have to forget the fun, happiness and enjoyment these movies brought to our lives. For me personally it’s not just a bunch of movies, it’s a journey that wouldn’t be complete without httyd3 the hidden world. Also in my opinion the hidden world is a misunderstood masterpiece, that just brings everything to full circle in a beautiful bittersweet way, where Messages are hidden we should all take away something. As someone who loves to write stories and knows very well how all of this works, you have my word that this story has natural structure with a satisfying ending. For me this trilogy is not a place where I criticize the crab out of everything, no, it’s a safe place after a hard day or a sad time just like my stories are. Httyd means as much to me as my stories and I could never put one movie over another, because every movie shows us beautiful lessons about love, friendship and loss. They inspire me for greater things. Every installment in this franchise deserves its place, especially httyd3 for ending the story in such a realistic, beautiful way. There is something legendary to the final story of the franchise, that I can’t explain.

Don’t let this be ruined by the people who don’t like this movie, it’s their opinion not yours.

Astrid pressed herself against Hiccup as he began kissing down her neck until he was at her shoulder. She felt him smile lovingly as he looked into her eyes again and casually wrapped his arm around her bare waist. His thumb slowly stroked her soft skin. Relaxed, she snuggled up against his shoulder again and wrapped her arms around his neck. Suddenly she let herself fall back and pulled him back down into the soft down. His beautiful face was above hers and his thumb was stroking the base of her breasts. Astrid smiled contentedly at her fiancé. Yes, that really was the best Snoggeltog they had ever had together. It had been so long since she and Hiccup had made time for each other, as Hiccup's father had taken quite a bit of his time over the last few months; with meetings of various tribal chiefs, council meetings on Berk or other problems that had arisen on Berk. Astrid understood that as a future chief he still had to learn everything, but she would still have preferred to come with him more often and spend a little time with him afterwards. Ever since they returned from Dragons Edge, his father had claimed him almost every time. Even when Astrid was Hiccup's fiancée and the two weren't married yet, she mostly only made representative appearances or took care of training new dragon riders. That's why she was all the happier for her that he agreed to her idea that they would meet every other evening and spend time together. Hiccup was just about to lean down to kiss her again when suddenly a loud rumbling from downstairs startled her. Hiccup groaned in annoyance and pulled away from Astrid's face a little. “What was that?” she asked worriedly. Hiccup gently stroked her waist and stomach before lying down next to her. “I think my drunk father just came home.” Astrid looked at him, puzzled. She didn't even know that her future father-in-law drank. “Should we help him? Or should I go? It wouldn't be very beneficial if he saw us like that." Hiccup shook his head and drew circles over her flat stomach. “No, stay. He won't notice you when he's drunk anyway. I just hope Gobber is with him, otherwise he won't make it up the stairs." Astrid bit her lower lip and pulled the blanket tighter around her bare breasts. Maybe it really was better if she left when Hiccup's father was drunk and a perhaps sober Gobber was with him. Her job as future chieftess was to represent and not to produce a successor right before the wedding and disappoint her parents, who always expected the fullest responsibility and discipline from her. But sometimes she just needed a little distraction and relaxation, preferably with Hiccup. She looked at her lover skeptically, a question still burning on her tongue. "Why does your father drink, he's our leader?" Hiccup just smiled amused and continued to draw circles over Astrid's upper body. “That actually happens relatively rarely. It's just because it's Snoggeltog evening and the others on the council often drag him along a bit. Mostly Snotlout‘s father.” Now Astrid had to smile a little. “Why doesn’t this surprise me.” They both grinned at each other and Hiccup moved a little closer to her so he could wrap her in his arms better. Astrid laughed as he brushed her long hair off her shoulder and planted kiss after kiss on her. "You're pretty cocky today." Hiccup smiled flattered and kissed her cheek. “Only the best for my future wife.”

The Northern Lights passed over the village of Berk like pastel-colored veils and reflected in the freshly fallen snow like thousands of gemstones. The annual Snoggeltog was celebrated magnificently in the large hall with beer and yakcotlette and gifts were already being distributed and unpacked. The entire village was guests, except for two who had already retired to personally present their own gifts.

Hiccup stroked the silky blonde hair of his fiancée Astrid, who had snuggled up with him in his soft bed, until he ran his fingertips over the golden comb with the shiny blue scales that fanned out into a small flower. He felt her smile against his bare chest as his fingers slid over her cheek to her bare, round breasts whose nipples nestled against his skin. Hiccup grinned mischievously when he heard Astrid gasp next to him as he brushed his fingers over a nipple. When he wanted to try it again, this time with the other nipple, she sat up and wrapped the blanket over her naked torso. “No more breasts for you, Haddock, if you’re so greedy,” she smirked. But Hiccup just looked at her dreamily, the love of his life, fiery, strong in all her beauty in the same bed with him. He gently stroked her back, which had a large tattoo of her Nadder Stormfly, and directly above it was the tattoo with his name. He heard her exhale in a relaxed manner and watched as she flashed at him over her shoulder with her blue eyes that could awaken even the northern lights with their fiery glow that sometimes reminded him of blue fire. "Someone can't get enough of me." Hiccup smiled and sat up so he could wrap his arms around her, Astrid immediately pushed herself closer to him again. “I can never get enough of you, M’Lady,” he whispered to her as he kissed the top of her head, where the comb had already slipped a little. “You know, Hiccup, this is the best Snoggeltog I've ever had. You and me together," she took his hand in hers and laced their fingers together, "no battles to fight or the twins or Snotlout to stop them from blowing themselves up." Hiccup had to laugh a little at that remark, he knew that Astrid also had a sensitive, vulnerable side that she didn't want to reveal to everyone except those to whom she gave her heart, like him. Especially in the moments when the two of them were intimate with each other, it was particularly important to him that she felt particularly comfortable and loved. She had done so much for him in all the years they had worked together not only as lovers but also as best friends and equal leaders.
