We know that Elsa has had a tough life, and as you can imagine, the trauma and abuse she's suffered at the hands of her power-hungry family—and then later in their attempt to please her new conscience (after accidentally killing her own sister) and becoming the new Supreme Witch of Arendelle—has left her with a very real and understandable reason for being a very scary dude.
