An Order heiress, because I thought it would be funny for Sanctus to depend on someone financially for his big bad evil plan oh no

To make her very much still in progress backstory simple, she's a childhood friend of Nero's and Kyrie's, she fell for Kyrie first and then bc her and Nero butted heads.. well. Shithead managed to catch feelings x2 electric boogalo.

Her family is kinda loaded on her dads side, because he is a descendant of one of the De Medici branches, big failboy that managed to snag Odessa (Dahlia's mom) and had Dahlia in Florence, before moving to Fortuna per Odessa's request as she was born there. Him and Sanctus are rat bastards and Federico (Dahlia dad) decided that he will indeed try to sneakily worm his way into the order (spoiler he was obnoxious about it) and try to take over as his last hurrah at having done literally anything in life.

Dahlia has to fight her parents in 4, aswell as she also makes a pact with a demon out of desperation. Her patron is demon Razikel, a Kar'niss bg3 looking ass, that asks her to be a vessel for him and to give her soul to him as pact terms, in exchange she gains knowledge and hybrid level stats.. and stronger magic. Why did she do it, I hear you ask, Nox why was she such a dumbass, well, it's because she is whipped for the KYYYYRIEEEE guy and Kyrie; she didn't want to feel useless and get Kyrie back, aswell as protecting Nero.

After the entire order shit goes down, Nero has to exterminate the spider but then all 3 realise oh shit, Dahlia nearly died fuck okay you know what, fuck it we a throuple now. So yeah, Nero and Kyrie have a goth gf witch, package deal babey, don't separate them.

Oh also snek familiar she summoned at a really low point in her life when she discovered witchcraft, that actually became her passion and genuine interest.

i want to yap about Lae'zel, because she's seriously grown on me through my 500+ hours playing BG3 and i just... hsjaksh i love her so much man.

First i wanna go into her personality because man, it hurts me. She is an agressive and blunt character, violent in some scenarios and not at all afraid to use force to get what she wants. It is all too easy to call her a "mean person", to put it simply, but i also want to point something out that is also true at the same time as everything i just said:

She is never the one to start shit.

The only time she ever is rude to the other companions, is when they go at her first. Shadowheart is a prime example of this, she's constantly being snarky or even downright rude to Lae'zel, so of course Lae'zel will respond in kind. When

But compare that to her interractions with Gale for example. He's just genuinely curious about her and githyanki stuff in general, and Lae'zel is happy to share what she knows with him. She even sounds quite proud of her heritage.

I find it quite significant, and it also says a lot about her character. Its all defensive, not offensive. And when you consider how she was raised, what a dangerous and violent environment it was, it makes perfect sense.

Growing up she could've been murdered by her brothers/sisters and other such kin in her crèche at any moment, should they have deemed her weak. In order to survive, she had to learn violence as her first reaction to a threat: if she hesitated to kill her classmates, they would not. Her whole life has been built around that, so its no surprise that when she's thrown into an unfamiliar situation, in an unfamiliar environment crowded by unfamiliar people, thats the first way she will react.

I also like how much of a culture shock it seems to her being in the mountain pass crèche (i forget the name apologies), she comments on how non-violent it is and how lax the rules and security seems to be. We dont know much about her crèche aside from what she tells tav, but we can gather it was a MUCH more hostile environment than this. It makes me think, is Lae'zel's crèche the odd one out here or is the mountain pass crèche the strange one? Is overwhelming violence the norm for a githyanki crèche or is that something that was unique to her's.

But she's not needlessly cruel, oh no. I want to point out another moment between her and Shadowheart as an example: when Shadowheart is trapped on the nautiloid. She says in that moment, "It cannot be helped." Lae'zel isnt trying to get Tav to leave Shart because she wants Shart to die, or because she doesnt care what happens to Shart. She's trying to get Tav to leave, because she knows that they cant waste precious time faffing around trying to get the pod unlocked. She's putting her and Tav's survival first before someone who is trapped and helpless.

Also the way she tries to get everyone - not just herself and Tav, all the companions - to the mountain pass crèche to try and purify them and get rid of the tadpoles. She easily could just go off on her own, without having to worry about everyone else - she does actually if you choose to leave her at the start of the game - but she doesn't.

The tadpoles must also be scaring the shit out of her, way more than she ever lets on. Acting scared is weakness after all, its useless - she says as much if Tav reacts that way to her describing ceremorphosis - and it makes you vulnerable, which makes you weak which makes you a bigger target for your enemies. In her mind at least.

The moment when she tries to kill Tav is a brief moment when that mask of toughness slips, and her true fears peek through. She wasn't waiting for a perfect moment to strike since she met Tav and the others, she was acting out of fear and maybe instinct to stop their transformations before the worst of it happened, a mercy kill if you will. The fact that you can convince her not to do it is also proof that it wasnt pre-meditated, it was a reaction to her fears.

I also wanna talk about the way she speaks to Tav over time. She starts out snappy and rude, with a harsh tone but as she gets to know them more, and as her approval of them increases too, her tone grows noticably softer and she even begins to greet them normally instead of just saying "Speak." You dont even have to romance her for that.

On the topic of her romance, i just... the scene where she asks to cuddle Tav makes my heart feel so full. Lae'zel, the violent and bloodthirsty githyanki, is letting herself be vulnerable for likely the first time in her life, to ask for cuddles.

Her character like i said just.... hshdhsjskhwdhakaidj. Her progression from this rude and mean person to someone you realize is just trying to keep everyone safe through the methods she knows. I love that funky little green alien woman so much.

DMC Questions Anon here!

What sort of things would the DMC characters be into? What would their favorite medias be, who would their favorite characters be, their favorite dynamics, their favorite ships? Favorite things about it? Would they try and have any involvement in the fandom space online? If so, what sort of involvement?

Ill do them in order:

Dante: Well we know he's into smutty magazines and maybe even a bit of collecting, seeing how cluttered the office appears to be. This makes me thing he'd be into more retro things like old arcade machines, specifically those 1v1 combat games, and i can also see him reading old superhero comic books. (For anybody that knows the game, i can see him enjoying Dead or Alive too lmao)

He doesnt strike me as the sort to enter a fandom space and be an active participant, but i can imagine him enjoying discussing it with close friends like Lady/Nero or maybe even Trish. A casual enjoyer, i imagine he is.

Shipping too i feel like he'd try and be casual about... but we all know he secretly has an OTP that if they do not get together by the end of the series he will Lose It.

Vergil: Novels, poetry, theatre too. Also a secret Y/A novel enjoyer. By virtue of spending a good chunk of his life in the underworld and/or a bit disconnected from society while on the run as a kid, i imagine he isn't too well versed in fandom culture (does he even know what a fandom is?) But if prompted, would gladly yap to you for hours about his favourite literatures, the characters, the stories, etc. Enjoys all genres, but has a preference for darker themes and dark fantasy.

I dont think he'd be too into shipping, he strikes me as someone who'd rather analyse and break down his favourite media untill its shreds on the floor rather than pairing his favourites together. Dante despises when Vergil tries to get all analytical and point out broken physics on his favourite series when he's just trying to be a casual enjoyer lol (he secretly enjoys hearing his twin actually happy enjoying something for once, but would never admit that even over Eva's grave)

Nero: A total fandom nerd in his free time, mainly whatever TV shows were able to air in Fortuna and his favourite bands too. Can talk for hours about the intricate lore, the characters and the stories of his favourite media much like his father, however when it comes to analyzing stuff and deriving a deeper meaning from context clues, Nero would rather just enjoy things as they're presented to him. Strikes me as the type to mostly enjoy classic hero vs villian stories, and is a bit of a wimp with horror though he swears up and down he can handle it no problem.

Since Fortuna is pretty cut off from the outside world, and internet doesnt seem to be a very prominent thing in the DMC universe (if it even exists at all), i dont imagine he'd be too aware of larger fandom spaces. But i can see him having his own group of friends in Fortuna who share common interests with him, and they discuss the media together (possibly even friends from the Order or maybe even his time in the orphanage.)

Shipping, absolutely. Has multiple pairings and a few he depises for whatever reason, isnt too concerned about whats canon and whats not canon, and will gladly re-imagine the lore to suit his needs.

When it comes to his music, he will 100% make you a playlist or 5 of his favorite bands, what he things you'd like, what he recommends to try, and maybe even some he doesnt like just for fun. Much like me, Nero cannot live without his music.

For the others, ill do them kinda brief but i can expand on them if people wanna hear more:

Lady: Casual enjoyer of various media, mainly TV shows, but very much likes shipping and will happily debate over her pairings. Has a secret love for horror.

Trish: A bit like Vergil in the sense that she likes analyzing media and diving into the deeper meaning of everything. Likes shipping but less to pair cute couples, and more to explore various relationship dynamics and whatnot. Likes romance and cheesy stuff, but also really enjoys some darker genres sometimes too.

Nico: The kind of person who has to get into the physics and realism of everything in her favorite media, pointing out what does and doesnt make sense both within the fictional world and their "real world", and loves pointing out references to things whenever she can. Also takes inspiration from various media for her creations. Most of her favorite genres might be considered childish, but that just makes them even cooler to her.

Kyrie: A sucker for a good romance novel, she says she's just a casual enjoyer and not that deep into the fandom, but she has cried when her OTP didnt get together by the end of the book.

Lucia: Dumary seems pretty dead so i dont think theres much going on there to get into fandom-wise, but if Lucia were to get into something i imagine she'd enjoy watching rom-coms with Kyrie and Trish, the three of them debating their favourite pairs and laughing at all the cheesy moments. Much like Kyrie, she's a sucker for a good romance plot.

I actually do think that Vergil's devil form in Devil May Cry 5 being an inferior imitation of Dante's Sin Devil Trigger makes sense.

While Vergil doesn't have a self-named devil sword like Dante does, it can be assumed that consuming the Qliphoth fruit gave him a comparable (but still inferior) power boost. And as a friend reminded me, demons are speculated to evolve based on what they desire, and one of the things Vergil wants most is to compete with Dante.

I just wish it actually looked like an inferior imitation of Dante's devil trigger. Because Vergil having what is, by all appearances, a canonical Sin Devil Trigger that doesn't play like a Sin Devil Trigger really bothers me. I think it should have looked more unique, like a standard Devil Trigger trying to disguise itself as something more.

Maybe he has a humanoid face, like Dante's standard devil trigger, but he's missing his eyelids, nose, and lips to give a somewhat skull-like appearance.

Since this "Psuedo-Trigger" is likely the result of the Qliphoth fruit, perhaps his body is covered in roots much like Urizen's was, to imitate the scales on Dante's Sin Devil Trigger. If not roots, maybe something with a more ghostly aesthetic, suggesting that his apparently equivalent power to Dante is an illusion. I'm reminded of the armor on Dante's Dreadnought form from Devil May Cry 4.

In more recent time I’ve been rewatching the dmc anime with my friend(s) [one of them shows up once in a while to watch an episode or two]

Honestly I’ve had trouble navigating procreate and using the brushes and stuff opposed to my all knowing knowledge of Ibis but I wanted to give procreate a try again since that’s where my magnum opus in sketching shines, coloring though god for me it’s hard and I feel like my skills just wane.

I had a lot of fun with the different brushes even though the coloring didn’t come out the way I wanted it.

Anyways the drinking thing, well in the anime ending Dante has some bottles around him so I just made this with that thought in mind since he is clearly grieving during that whole season.

I love Lady Devil May Cry sm. She's so bitter when we first meet her. She was so full of bitterness that she'd shoot anything in her way regardless whether human or not. Literally the first thing she done upon seeing Dante was to shoot at him without even knowing whether he's human or what was his deal.
