Seeing as how my fanfic ‘We’re a Miracle’ has been out for over a year now, I decided it was about time to upload concept art and designs for characters and moments in the story! There will be spoilers for my fic so be aware of that.

1: Alphonse and the Blood Moon, I always planned for spiritual entities to be a thing in this story even before it was confirmed that Father Time is one in canon. Father Time originally had Alphonse’s role but I decided he probably wouldn’t know Morse code to communicate with Blood Moon. Can anyone translate what the Morse code says on this drawing? 2: The necklace Marco gave to Star. 3: A moment on the Ferris wheel (Ch.21), It should have more orange lighting and sunset-ness but coloring with colored pencil has its limits. 4: Corrupted Marco, Dark Seiji from Happiness Charge Precure was the main inspiration for the outfit. I always thought the show would have a Dark Marco story but it never happened. Writing my own plot line and causing Star to suffer made me think ‘is this how Daron felt?’ 5: Star’s design for the Ragnarok story arc. I just wanted to see her wear the hoodie, I actually cosplayed this design a while back at one of the Gallery Nucleus events. 6: Queen Galaxina (Ch.26), the sixth queen of Mewni from the distant past. I may have given her a jewel theme due to my love of gemstones. Her and her daughters names are shoutouts to Cosmo and her sister Galaxina from Sonic X, while the brief mention of Cosmo’s queen title being ‘Cosmo The Phantom Thief’ is a reference to Cure Cosmo of Star Twinkle Precure.

There will be spoilers for my fic so be aware of that.

1: The Burnble and The Love Dove (Ch.9). 2: Tom and his horrible snowman from chapter 11. Picture exists seconds before Star and Janna kill the snowman with their sled. 3: Ball Outfits Starco (Ch.14). I designed these originally right after Conquer aired and we didn’t know how season 4 would go. Glad I got to reuse them. The skirt of Star’s dress is based on one of her beta designs for her song day dress. The red cape on Marco’s suit was also reused from a design I made during season 1 for a knight outfit for him. 4: Old Man Seth. I added Seth even though he is dead in canon, instead he was assumed dead and was crystallized and left in a basement for ages. 5: Ragnarok’s Orb. The eyes move around in the smoke. 6: Marco’s corruption. The unicorn stab wound had to have some sort of significance, this is how I thought it would go. Ironically Ragnarok accidentally saved Marco by taking control of the corruption, if he hadn’t Marco would’ve ended up like Tom and the Dark Unicorns.

1: Ragnarok, the Spirit of Destruction. I wanted a villain that was neither Mewman or monster that connected with the corruption of the realm of magic and Eclipsa’s unnamed spell. His first design was more beastly but it made him look more like a monster so I went with a skeletal design (that sadly lost a lot of detail when I colored it). His body is rotting flesh on top and shadows on bottom. I imagine him with DarkKnightmons voice from Digimon Fusion.

2: Starco reunited once more after Star breaks Ragnarok’s hold on Marco (Ch.28)

3: Starco combining light and dark magic into a new form as they reformat Ragnarok (Ch.29)

4: The Blood Moon’s True Form as the Spirit of Souls. I actually designed the BM spirit all the way back during the hiatus between seasons 1 and 2, while her ‘Cure Scarlet’ inspired outfit remained the same over the years, her physical body changed overtime (strangely enough my first hairstyle for her was almost identical to Hekapoo’s). I never really read any other docs that treated the Blood Moon as an actual character and not a plot device, she and Ragnarok knew each other before he went crazy trying to destroy everything. Blood Moon is actually a nickname given by the demons, only a few spirits know her actual name. I imagine her voice sounding like Daphne from the Nick dub of Winx Club.

5: Hank, The genderless dragon-unicorn hybrid created by Star and Marco to make sure no one misuses magic again. I don’t even know where the name Hank came from, it’s just the first name I thought of.

1: Pony crashing Starco’s first date disguised as a waiter (Ch.3). Pony is really giving off some ‘Orlando Bloo’ vibes. Small detail but I differentiate between Star’s real hearts with the sticker ones like this by coloring them a brighter pink. 2: Globgor is wearing pants (Ch.7). That’s it. 3: Halloween costumes from Chapter 8. Godzilla Star was based on one of her scrapped designs from Hungry Larry. That is the greatest drawing of Pony Head that I will ever do. After seeing a sketch of Ludo as an anime nerd at the IRL Blood Moon Ball event, I immediately accepted it as canon.
