nightfall? more like nightFREAK 👅👅👅
Just a reminder that it was Nightfall who intentionally put Twilight in these ridiculously and unnecessarily short and tight minishorts.

If Twilight wears something even shorter on their next mission together, we'll pretend to be surprised
Yes, this is my great contribution to this fandom, sorry HAJAGDS.
wdym none of them are leading double lives or anything you sound crazy rn

the face of a child who knows that all three grown ups who just told her that lying is bad are huge liars
i am completely normal about them... i swear guys...
comic suggestion! Loid tries to teach Yor how to crack an egg. He wears safety goggles. A whole carton of eggs later, she succeeds without smashing the egg to smithereens. Heheh I am frying eggs right now
eggs

i took some creative liberties. always nice to see you in my inbox, cantarteincminor!
new artstyle who dis? jk im just doing this crazy thing where i spend more than twenty seconds on a panel. crazy, right?
Whatever you do don't think about how we don't know Loid's real name despite Anya being able to read minds.
Don't think about how every time he refers to himself on his head he calls himself Twilight.
Make sure you also don't think about Loid slipping one day while he's with Anya and Yor at home, when it's so easy to drop the Twilight persona, and refering to himself on his head by his birth name.
It will break your heart so don't think about Loid immediately correcting himself because he's not that man anymore. He's a spy, his name is Twilight, calling himself by his birth name on his head means dropping the spy persona for a second and he can't do that.
So yeah, don't think about Anya overhearing all those thoughts.
And don't think about Anya deciding to name one of her toys with Loid's real name, because she's not sure what else to do.
Also, don't think about Loid casually looking at the calendar one day and thinking that oh, today is his real birthday, and about Anya hearing that thought and spending the whole day making sure he has a wonderful day and gifting him a drawing she did because "papa you don't have any in your office", or about her using her allowance to invite him to a piece of cake "for no particular reason at all, papa is always paying for Anya's food so today Anya wants to pay for his"
Don't think about all of that, okay? But if you did, make sure to also think about a day when Twilight is finally able to reclaim his birth name, about how he'll smile when he hears Yor calling him by his real name for the first time, or how he'll cry when Anya tells him he'll always be papa to her.
I do really like the way the new chapter kind of showcases that Loid is really starting to settle into this whole parenting gig.
Like first 20 chapters Loid would have immediately gone into an anxiety induced fit about being a horrible fake father and how he's failing the mission and Anya, if Anya pulled the same crying fit trick on him (like she's done with success before) or he'd at least start to doubt his choices a little. But he just acts like a regular dad does and tells her to shut up, he doesn't give a fuck and she's staying her ass at home. And she would have too if Yor didn't convince him and if that isn't the most family shit ever I don't know what is
That's the growth we needed. Nature is healing.
Also he would have never out loud called her a brat before especially where Yor or someone else could hear and doubt their "father daughterly ness" but now he's yelling at her like a true father. Because yeah she really don't be listening but we love her for it.
I don't know I've always just felt like he's his truest self when it's just him and Anya. mostly because when he's not hyper focused on appearing like the greatest dad, Anya is just so ridiculous and left field that its hard to have anything less than a genuine reaction to her and the things she says. Also in regards to this operation stryx, she's the person he has the least to hide from, they both know he's not her dad and she's not his kid and that his marriage to Yor is fake. There's nobody to play pretend for, and that allows him to be just a little more real in their interactions because she's real with him.
Like I know he's a spy so we never really know his truest personality cause he's always putting on a mask, even with bond he puts on the mask of trainer no matter how badly he's not deceiving anyone, but honestly it doesn't feel like there's a mask with her. He's not Loid or Twilight with her but some secret third thing. Just a man with no real name but who is no less real and the strange kid he's trying to do right by no matter how many stress lines she cause him

the mortifying ordeal of being known

I think with Yor being so perceptive, she picks up on little things often (like we saw in ch 103). i believe this would impact loid more so than the usual person, because he is a spy and fakes every part of himself, so to be seen is simultaneously desirable and horrifying. like, it makes him torn between wanting to accept and reciprocate the love, or distancing himself so that it doesn't happen again.
thats mostly what the last panel is about, that dichotomy between 'omg this person noticed this about me, is this love' and 'oh shit this person noticed this about me, is this Doom'
just some thoughts i had🤪

That’s princess!! (I say about my favorite male fictional character)

uhhh *accidentally falls in love with wife* yea *does it again on purpose*🌹

so my big brained server friend Izzy (@icdisney19) had a big brained idea: spy x family avatar au (or as i like to call it, avatar x family), which is as follows:
loid: the last waterbender of the southern water tribe, uncovers Anya in ice and is tasked with protecting her
anya: the avatar, born to air nomads and hidden in southern water tribe when the fire nation attacked
yor: fire nation assassin sent after the avatar; believes loid is the avatar at first, but when she discovers it's actually anya, she refuses to harm a child
also other cool things like franky the genius earth kingdom inventor and bond the GIANT SKY DOGGY
as an average sxf and atla enjoyer, i am greatly intrigued by this au. thank you for your services Izzy 🙏

YES YOU’RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ANYA

I love the adaptation, but i agree, this scene left me wanting more 😭
I thought this scene looked more impressive in the manga but I suppose that’s a consequence of adaptation. An explosion in animation is just a few frames unless you slow-motion it but a full-page panel leaves a much larger impact. The different aspect ratio also means the explosion looks a lot smaller.

I find it funny how the moment Loid tries to seduce Yor insincerely the author punishes him for it wsedufhdjswkserfg

Thinking about how the reason Loid lost his cool in the interview was yes, because he is already emotionally attached to his fake family whether he wants to admit it or not, but also because it probably completely hit the biggest emotional trigger for him. He sees someone mocking Anya for crying about her (presumably) dead mother, which is something we see in his own backstory, and the reason why he became a spy in the first place (and why he hates when children cry): he never wants another child to go through what he did
I just realized spy x family is just about orphans, an orphan is using two orphans for his mission and the other orphan is using the two other orphans as cover and the other orphan is adopted so is no longer an orphan but was once an orphan
My favorite thing about Yor and Twilight is that both their jobs are designed for cut-throat perfection. There are no in-betweens, no excuses or second chances where assassination and espionage are concerned. Which is why seeing them both warm up to parenting is so wonderful.

They both make their fair share of mistakes, whether it’s running out of patience or simply being at a loss on how to deal with a child of Anya’s age and temperament.

But at the end of the day, they end up being the two most important people in Anya’s life without even realizing it because they keep trying.

They acknowledge their flaws but more importantly they try to fix them and grow from them - for both Anya’s sake and each other’s.

They know their circumstances are far from perfect. They know that they are far from perfect. But that doesn’t stop them from wanting a happy childhood for their daughter - and really, isn’t that the best any parent could ever want for their child?

If Spy X Family doesn't end with Loid retiring as a spy after peace between the East and West is settled to marry Yor for real and keep Anya as his daughter to live in married domestic bliss then what's the point

The way Loid set out to seduce Yor but ends up flustered himself by the end…hehehehehe….
