The smell of baked goodies slowly spread across the castle. You know this because the scent is what coaxed you out of the library this time. You set your book in its proper place and headed towards the kitchen. It was faint, but you were able to pick up a few scents from the rest. Cinnamon. Sugar. Peanut butter. Various berries. And definitely batter.
You perked up. Horror must be in one of his ‘dessert’ moods. The last time he did that was around the time you’d first joined. He’d made so many pastries that the gang almost had leftovers. You were surprised how much they could eat. Even if they were skeletons and it didn’t make sense how they could eat in the first place. You also quickly learned to guard your food. Killer was a thief. And Dust too, but he was insanely good at not getting caught. The rest didn’t really steal at all with the exception of Cross and chocolate.
Anyways, you entered the kitchen and were greeted by cinnamon rolls, various cookies(excluding any chocolate), and a few cobblers that Horror was still cooking. On the counter sat a muffin tin with raw batter still inside. Looked like cupcakes were next.
“Hey, Horror. Whatcha makin’?” You leaned against the doorframe.
The skeleton in question looked up at you as he pulled out one of the cobblers. He didn’t seem shocked to see you but, then again, he never did. “Makin’ peach cobbler.” He said, gently shaking the cobbler to show you before pointing inside the oven at the other two desserts. “Blueberry cobbler. Strawberry cobbler.” He spoke slowly as he set the peach version down on a coaster.
“Smells great.” You said. “I wish I could cook like you do. Your cooking is always amazing.”
Horror looked over his shoulder at you and smiled. “You don’t have to. . . Your cooking is good, too.”
“Pffft!” You laugh. “Horror, if you didn’t stand by me, helping me cook, I’d burn the food to a crisp!”
He shook his head. “No, you wouldn’t.”
“Horror.” You calmed yourself and looked Horror dead in the eye. “I’ve burnt pudding.”
His eye light went out.
. . .
“HOW?!?!”
You startled at the new voice and turned to see Cross behind you. He looked shocked, horrified, and fascinated all at once.
He lowered his volume. “How do you burn pudding???”
“That’s what I’m saying!” You laugh.
“How is that even possible?!?”
“I don’t know!!”
“How would you even…” Cross’s brows scrunched together. “What else have you burned?? Water???”
“No, I have not succeeded in burning water, yet.”
“Yet??”
Horror cleared his throat at you both. “You cook well here.”
“Thank you. I’m better at cooking if someone is there to help me. And you’ve been great at teaching me.” You smiled.
Cross looked like he was puzzling something out. “Are you telling me that this entire time, if Horror had left you alone in the kitchen, you would have burnt something??”
You mock scoffed. “It would take a few minutes! I’m not Killer.”
A grin grew across Horror’s face. “You are like Killer though.”
“Oh my stars, Horror, no!” You laughed.
“Someone call me?”
“Speak of the devil.” Cross grumbled as Killer leaned over his shoulder.
“You love me.” Killer peered past you at the food on the table. “Your cooking can be smelled from across the castle, Horror.”
“So can Y/N’s, too, apparently.” Cross mumbled.
“What??” Killer laughed, looking between you and Horror. “What does that mean?”
You rolled your eyes, smile still present on your face. “I was telling these guys about how I burn nearly everything without supervision.”
Killer shrugged. “There’s no way you burn every-”
“Pudding.”
Killer choked on air.
The room burst with laughter as Killer struggled to catch his breath.
“Pudding??” Killer sputtered, eye sockets wide. “How?!?”
You shrug. “Honestly, no idea.”
Killer’s eyes narrowed. “. . . Are you pulling my leg?”
“No, unfortunately. I was making vanilla wafer pudding, had to make the pudding myself, and somehow managed to burn it.”
Horror moved the cupcakes into the oven. “You eat it?”
“Hmm?” You looked over at him, confused.
He closed the oven and set the timer before turning to you. “Did you eat it?”
You thought back. “. . . Yeah. We did eat it. You couldn’t even taste the burnt parts despite seeing that there were little burnt flakes in it.”
“Was it good?”
You shot Cross a confused look and he just shrugged. “Yeah. It was pretty good. Why do you ask?”
A grin split Horror’s face. He pointed at you. “You’re a good cook.”
“I-” You stuttered. “Thanks. But I’m really not-”
“No.” Horror interrupted. He stepped forward and jabbed your chest with a finger. “You are a good cook. No buts.”
Rubbing your chest, you mumbled a more skeptical ‘thanks’. Cross’s eye lights flicked to you.
“You’ve been helping Horror in the kitchen, right?” Killer asked while leaning on Cross.
“Yeah. When I can. Why?” You eyed Killer suspiciously.
He shrugged. “I haven’t noticed any change in Horror’s cooking since you joined. Have you?” Killer poked at Cross.
Cross slapped him away. “No, if anything, it’s gotten better somehow.” Cross looked you in the eyes. “You’re doing great, Y/N.”
You smiled. “Thanks.” You looked at the table decorated in sweets. “Hey, Horror. Can we eat that yet or do you want us to wait?”
Horror grunted. “Soon. I’ll call when it’s ready.” He then shooed you three out of the kitchen to finish cooking.

“Ow!”
You pulled your hands away from the cutting board and the strawberries you were slicing. That stings!
Horror looked up from the cupcake batter at your exclamation. His eye focused on the hand you held to your chest.
You moved to the sink and started cleaning the small cut in your hand.
“Bleeding.” Came Horror’s gruff voice behind you.
“Yeah, but not much.” You responded, gently drying your hands. You turned around, intending to go get a bandage or something, when you jumped at Horror’s proximity to you. “Geez! Horror! You gotta stop that!”
“Human blood…” He growled.
Confused, you looked into his eye and stopped. This wasn’t the Horror you knew. Something was wrong with the way he was staring at you. As if he didn’t recognize you. “Uh… Horror? You there, bud?” You ask, suddenly noting the strawberry knife in his hand.
Horror towered over you, his smile void of sanity as he grabbed at your arm.
You pulled back, narrowly avoiding his grab, and bumped into the sink. “Horror. It’s me, Y/N. We’re in the castle.” No response. “Can you hear me?”
The knife rose above his head.
“Horror?? Listen! You’re okay! You aren’t there anymore!” You weren’t sure what you were saying but you had to do something. “Horror!”
Horror growled as his arm was grabbed by a black tentacle. He spun towards Nightmare, drooling and snarling like a wolf. Nightmare didn’t react as his tentacle slowly pulsed on Horror’s arm. Horror grabbed the appendage and chomped down on it. You flinched as Nightmare hissed but didn’t stop him.
“Leave, Y/N.” Nightmare said. “I’ll take care of this.”
You hesitated, watching how Horror tried to tear apart Nightmare’s tentacle, his blown eye light crazed, and drool pooling from his mouth. When you moved towards the door, he immediately noticed and tried to charge at you. He was yanked back.
“Now. Y/N.” Nightmare growled.
“Hold on! I have an idea!” You opened the fridge and reached in.
“Y/N!” He grunted at a particularly viscous bite. “I’ve done this before! LEAVE!”
“Just let me try something!” You yank out the sliced turkey, ignoring Nightmare’s protest. “Hey, Horror!” He looked back at you and his eye locked on the food in your hands. “Catch!”
You tossed it at him and he snatched it out of the air with his free hand. He ripped the bag open and devoured the turkey inside. His eye dilated as he looked up at you again, this time hopefully. You tossed him another bag, this time chicken. He did the same thing as before but slightly slower.
As he finish the last bit of chicken he slowed to a stop and went still. Nightmare let out a relieved sigh and loosened his grip on Horror’s arm. Horror looked at Nightmare’s damaged tentacle and shrank into himself.
“Sorrysorrysorrysorrysorry” He started mumbling, dropped the bag and held his head.
You stepped forward, earning a pointed glared from Nightmare as Horror noticed you. He looked at you through his fingers as if searching you. His eye settled on your finger that bled slightly during the commotion. “I . . . hurt you?”
“No.” You said, moving closer. He recoiled. “You didn’t hurt me, Horror. I didn’t realize how sharp the knife was while I was slicing the strawberries. It wasn’t your fault.” Despite Nightmare’s warning looks, you stepped even closer to Horror who seemed like he wanted to run from you.
“No. Y/N.” Horror stressed. “I can’t…” He stepped back. “You’re not… safe here.”
You stopped within arms reach and held out your hand, moving the cut hand behind your back. “How about this, I’ll wash that knife off and visit with Dust real quick, and then we finish making cupcakes for everyone? Sound good?”
Horror looked down at the knife in his hand as if he hadn’t noticed that it was there. He looked at the ingredients on the counter. “Cupcakes…” Nightmare and you shared a look over Horror’s shoulder. Nightmare was definitely going to talk to you after this. Horror looked back to you, setting the knife gently into your hand, trying not to touch you. “Deal.”
You nodded, smiling at him. “Cool. Now, would you mind working on the batter?” He nodded and went back to the counter, picking up where he left off. You quickly washed the knife before setting it to dry and leaving with Nightmare.
As soon as you were out of earshot from the kitchen, Nightmare broke the silence. “What happened.”
It wasn’t a question, it was a command for a report.
You sighed. “I cut my finger while slicing strawberries and went to wash my hands. When I turned around, Horror was in my face with the knife from the strawberries in hand. I tried to calm him down after noticing that something was wrong when he lifted his arm and you showed up.” You said, letting him fill the blanks from there.
“What were you thinking?”
You rolled your eyes. “That I had to get my friend back.”
“No.” Nightmare stopped you with a tentacle. “I told you to leave! Yet you stayed and even approached Horror, like an idiot!”
“I don’t see how helping was being ‘an idiot!’” You snapped. “It’s not like he would actually mean to hurt me!”
“But he would!” Nightmare snapped back. “You’re a human! He would have torn you apart and served you to the gang if I hadn’t stepped in! Do you not know the amount of real danger you were in just then? You are insanely lucky that I noticed your proximity to him in his fit! He. Would. Have. EATEN. YOU.” He jabbed a finger into your chest at the end of his rant.
You froze, searching Nightmare eye as if he would lie to you. “But… Horror wouldn’t…”
“Horror wouldn’t. But trauma makes people do insane things they would never do.” Nightmare rubbed the bridge of his nose. “And he’s not the only one. If any of the boys don’t look like themselves, get away or hide. I’ll need to react sooner than I used to since you live here now. But-” He glared at you. “You need to learn to obey in a situation like that. If I tell you to leave, you LEAVE.”
You held his glare. “It worked tho.”
“What?”
“Feeding him. He calmed down with food.” You hesitated, breaking eye contact for a second. “What happened to him?”
Nightmare sighed. “That is not my story to tell. But you’re avoiding the subject.” He waved the topic away. “Can I trust you to obey in the next crisis? Or will you continue to contradict me?”
You shrug, a smirk appearing on your face. “Depends on if I can keep you from hurting more or not.”
His eye narrowed. “That was stupid luck.”
“That was deductive reasoning.” You shot back.
You held each other’s glare until Nightmare pulled his injured tentacle away from you. You broke eye contact first, turning down the hall.
“It seems we both need to see Dust.”
Nightmare walked with you.
And once those amalgam universes form they cause a magnet effect and start pulling in other au’s, meshing both terrain and people until you can’t even tell what the creatures were before the collision. The world itself is covered in glitches as the codes fight for dominance. There are rarely survivors from events like collisions but Error does what he can.
Unfortunately, the amalgams can’t be saved after merging as they are deeply imbedded in the codes of the worlds. As soon as one person is anchored to two worlds, they can’t leave without dusting. The only place they could theoretically survive in would be the save screen but it’s harder to get there than it is to get the amalgams out of their universes. That doesn’t stop Error from trying though.
POV: You started thinking what if Error was almost the exact opposite. As in, he loves touch and is happy all the time. And all of a sudden there's a destroyer running around in your head giving people hugs and buttons. Like, he somehow has a collection of buttons that he just gives to people he thinks needs it! And if he gets too excited he crashes.
And now there are two gremlins in your head because if Error crashes when he's happy then Ink pukes when he's stressed.
Now there's an Ink with anger issues that hates how loud Error is. Ink is lazy and tired all the time but can still hold himself up in a fight if need be. He still creates but now he creates so much in one space that the au’s start running into each other and tearing each other apart. Error comes in, saves who he can and destroys the merging au’s before they form an amalgam universe.
Error and Core Frisk have their own secret alliance because everyone still sees him as the destroyer but Core knows why he has to.
Core has many gift buttons.
I woke up thinking this.
I had to give him a buddy

I don’t know what to name them yet.

I did it.
So as a lucid dreamer myself, I was wondering how Dream or Nightmare would react to me or any lucid dreamer.
Like, as soon as I know I’m dreaming, I will shapeshift into a hawk or dragon or whatever I need/want. And while lucid I can feel everything in the dreamscape. So, if something moved that shouldn’t, I’d know immediately. I’m also very aggressive in my dreams. I have been torn apart in my dreams so I will attack first without hesitation. I don’t know about y’all but I prefer not to die over and over again. My attack forms are either human or dragon. A very specific dragon that I will draw in the future.
Let’s say Nightmare entered my dream, because let’s be fair he has more of a reason to with the whole spreading negativity thing, I’d feel the second he entered and my dreamscape would seal off protectively, effectively trapping the intruder inside my dream. I’d confront and, seeing his size and extra appendages, I’d go dragon. I’d attack first. Whether or not I win, I don’t know, but I’d fight dirty. The ground would roll and buckle under my influence and I’d move fast as thought despite my size. As soon as he realized he was trapped, Nightmare would fight out of desperation, giving him a boost.
After the fight, I would start questioning him, which I really should have started with. Most likely, I would have him restrained by then or we’d be glaring at each other, both severely wounded but I can’t die and won’t kill him.
If for some reason I met Dream first, the dreamscape would close off same as before but I would approach in human form. His bright colours would make me curious but I would still attack first. He’d probably talk me down during the fight or just outright surrender to show that he means no harm. If for some reason the fight continued, I would definitely cheat and go dragon until I restrained Dream.
Either way, the dreamscape wouldn’t loosen until I trusted the intruder and dreams can last years in a single night. So they’re stuck with me until I relax. Which, again, could be years later. Ironically, I don’t need sleep in my dreams.
I might turn this into a series or something, who knows?
But their ability to manipulate emotions might change a few things.
My dreams are heavily influenced by my emotions in the moment, so if Nightmare made me fearful(cause I’m already mad) the dreamscape would turn on me and hit me with everything I’ve got. Nightmare wouldn’t even have to do anything but stare as I fought my own conscious.
And if Dream made me feel joy I might just end up trying to play with him instead of attacking.
I need to write this
This is going to be a story
