And maybe what growing up really means is knowing that you don’t have to be just a character, going whichever way the story says. It’s knowing you could be the author instead.
Ava Dellaira, Love Letters to the Dead (via thebooker)

women of greek mythology - persephone (Περσεφόνη)
In Greek mythology, Persephone, also called Kore, is the daughter of Zeus and the harvest-goddess Demeter, and queen of the underworld. Homer describes her as the formidable, venerable majestic queen of the underworld, who carries into effect the curses of men upon the souls of the dead. Persephone was abducted by Hades, the god-king of the underworld. The myth of her abduction represents her function as the personification of vegetation which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest; hence she is also associated with spring and with the seeds of the fruits of the fields. I think it is a really great advice for writers looking for the type of story they wish to write. I sooooooo need this for future reference :D

Literature meme Genres (1/3) - Crime
Crime fiction is the literary genre that fictionalises crimes, their detection, criminals and their motives. It is usually distinguished from mainstream fiction and other genres such as science fiction or historical fiction, but boundaries can be, and indeed are, blurred. It has several sub-genres, including detective fiction (such as the whodunit), legal thriller, courtroom drama and hard-boiled fiction.
Famous crime writers: Agatha Christie, Raymond Chandler, Arthur Conan Doyle, Dorothy L. Sayers, Ian Fleming
( wiki ) ( the top 100 crime novels of all time ) (goodreads)
To me, a major milestone for writers of the modern era to appreciate.
