And maybe what growing up really means is knowing that you don’t have to be just a character, going whichever way the story says. It’s knowing you could be the author instead.

Ava Dellaira, Love Letters to the Dead (via thebooker)

I think every one should remember this. We own the story, not the story owns us.

women of greek mythology - persephone (Περσεφόνη)

In Greek mythology, Persephone, also called Kore, is the daughter of Zeus and the harvest-goddess Demeter, and queen of the underworld. Homer describes her as the formidable, venerable majestic queen of the underworld, who carries into effect the curses of men upon the souls of the dead. Persephone was abducted by Hades, the god-king of the underworld. The myth of her abduction represents her function as the personification of vegetation which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest; hence she is also associated with spring and with the seeds of the fruits of the fields. (+ more)

This is a really good poem.

It has several sub-genres, including detective fiction (such as the whodunit), legal thriller, courtroom drama and hard-boiled fiction.

Famous crime writers: Agatha Christie, Raymond Chandler, Arthur Conan Doyle, Dorothy L. Sayers, Ian Fleming
