"What a silly way to die. Death by flowers,” is what you thought to yourself when you first heard of the illness. “there’s no way such a thing could exist."

~ Hi anon! Thank you so much for your request! Im not very familiar with the hanahaki trope but i wanted to give it a shot - i hope it’s okay! Hopefully none of the characters are too ooc </3

P.s., yellow tulips represent one-sided love in japanese :)

warnings: death, vomiting (flowers), talk of sickness, blood, some swearing. there are no manga spoilers :)

words: over 4k holy this is long

Constructive feedback is always welcome! I’m always looking to improve!

Requests are open! (check my pinned post!)

The Hanahaki disease was vaguely mentioned in one of Ishigami Village’s 100 tales. A woman, in love with a man who didn’t love her back, had suffocated on yellow tulips that she could not stop throwing up. Nobody knew much else about the mysterious illness- no origins were stated, no cure, and there was no record of anyone in the village ever experiencing such an ailment. Maybe it was a metaphor of some kind?

‘What a silly way to die. Death by flowers,” is what you thought to yourself when you first heard of the illness. “there’s no way such a thing could exist.

But if Chrome has his sorcery, then maybe it wasn’t so improbable. Who knows how much Ishigami Village has yet to discover? Besides, the 100 tales are the reason we know so much already.’

When Ruri first fell ill, some speculated she had the mysterious disease. Since they were young, people had always known that Chrome and Ruri shared a strong bond- perhaps Ruri’s feelings were strong enough to make her sick. However, as time went on, Ruri never once coughed up flowers or flower petals, so the idea was eliminated.

But Ruri was still ill, and nobody knew how to cure her for good. No one was certain that the hot spring water Kohaku brought for baths had healing properties, and nobody even knew what it was that was ailing her.

That was until one day, Kohaku told you about a stranger she had brought to the village with the hot spring water for her older sister. Her ponytail was tied differently, and she was late to retrieve the hot spring water, which was very unlike her. Just who exactly was this stranger, and what were their intentions? If Kohaku trusts them enough to bring them back to the village, however, you had reasoned with yourself, maybe they weren’t all that dangerous.

The stranger was a boy your age who introduced himself as Senku, and you had eyed him with a raised brow. Chrome stood not too far behind him, running his mouth about some minerals he had in his shed, but not in the arrogant way he usually did. It was a surprise to see how outgoing your friend was with a foreigner. Chrome and Kohaku explained to you that Senku was a sorcerer- sorry, scientist- able to cure Ruri of her sickness, and upon hearing this, you were excited but reluctant to trust him.

You wanted to be cold at first. Unattached, uneasy to sway, but my god did Senku make it difficult. Even when he was an asshole, you couldn’t help but hook on to his every word, enthralled with everything he had to say and offer. You’d observe him in the midst of an experiment with curiosity and stare in amazement over the incredible results he was able to produce. It seemed supernatural to you.

It didn’t take long for you to become a citizen of the Kingdom of Science, aiding your friends in creating the panacea that would help Ruri beat her sickness. After obtaining magnets with iron and gaining some help from the villagers and outsider, Gen Asagiri, it was time for the final test, with Kinro and Ginro helping to generate the electricity you worked so hard to create. You were on the roof of the shed with Senku and Chrome, waiting in anticipation.

“Y/N, does the night scare you?” Senku asked you suddenly as he concentrated his eyes on the bamboo fiber in front of him with a small frown.

“Huh? Well…sure. Everything gets all dark.” You replied, studying his face. “Why do you ask?”

“Back in my day, there was no darkness. With old man Edison’s incandescent light bulb, humanity beat back the night, conquering all twenty four hours of the day. Through the power of science, mankind defeated the darkness, and now we’re gonna do it again.” Your eyes trailed down to watch Senku bring the wires closer to the ends of the fiber. “For the first time in 3700 years, the flame of science will burn.”

The ends met, and a brilliant white light brightly illuminated your faces. You stared in awe of the artificial light, amazed by how Senku was able to make such a thing happen. You realized how loud your heart was pounding, partly because of the incredible power of science and the excitement you felt over this invention and the progress you were making with the Kingdom of Science, but mostly because of the slow smile that spread across Senku’s face, a determined glint in his eye dancing in the warm light. His smile widened when the light fizzed out and he met your eyes, and the world around you seemed to grow quiet.

Multiple windows of opportunity opened as you continued to gather materials and gain allies. It was only after Senku won the grand bout that your feelings began nagging at you.

Sitting around a fire with your friends at Senku’s celebration party, you tuned out the conversation and let your mind drift to the scientist.

You felt a strong sense of pride knowing Senku and how far he’s come in such a short amount of time, starting off as merely a stranger you and many others were weary of to becoming a leader. Your heart raced every time you watched him fall again in love with his passion, and you found yourself wanting to be near him always; to indulge in what he does, to know of every crazy concept he lived out 3700 years ago. And then you realized what was happening and started thinking very fast.

Without realizing it, you had slowly been falling in love with Senku. With his mind, his passion and persistence, his wit and cunningness. With him. And with every new hurdle you cleared with the Kingdom of Science, with every thrilling experiment and development, you fell further.

But you knew how Senku was. Romance didn’t interest him in the slightest- in fact, he was actually disgusted by the idea of being romantically involved with someone. So how the hell were you to go about this?

He was never going to return your feelings, and you had no idea if your own feelings would fade. You would never be involved with Senku in the way that you wanted to be and were horrified at the idea of him finding out about your feelings and being repulsed by you, terrified of losing the friendship you had with him. Right in the midst of your panic, you felt your chest tighten and you started coughing uncontrollably, covering your mouth with your hand. You and the others were taken aback, and you did everything you could to seize your fit.

“Y/N! Are you okay?!” Kohaku cried out and put a hand on your shoulder, while the others around you stared in concern.

“I’m…fine…” you coughed out, taking sharp inhales and moving your hands away from your face, balling them into fists. “Something just got caught…in my throat…”

“You sure you're okay?”

“Yup…! No worries!” You straightened up and gave your friend a tight-lipped smile as she reluctantly brought her hand away from you. I need to pull myself together. Senku is outrageously observant. You were grateful that he hadn’t yet joined the party and noticed the yellow flower petal you tucked away into your pocket.

After Ruri was healed and Senku became chief, the Kingdom of Science’s top priority was defeating the Tsukasa Empire, and there was no time to waste.

Only ten minutes after your incident, Senku had returned to the village, and Gen revealed that Tsukasa was planning to strike. Everything moved quickly from there.

After Hyoga and Homura’s attack on the village, the citizens were working to rebuild what was lost as well as create an invention that would give the Kingdom of Science the upper hand against the Tsukasa Empire. Senku revealed that the next painstaking project the Kingdom of Science would undergo would be to create something called a cellphone, a device that allowed one to communicate with others over long distances. You and everyone else could hardly wrap your minds around such a thing (including the modern-timer, Gen, but for different reasons). This is the kind of technology Senku’s people possessed? Was such a thing really possible?

And Senku smiled his signature smile with that determined glint in his eye, and you were reminded that this was Senku we were talking about. With his brilliance and resilience and the help of the villagers, he could absolutely pull something like that off. Your heart skipped a beat as his eyes met yours, and he nodded in sincerity upon seeing the skeptic look on your face. A cell phone, huh?

During the project, your condition didn’t get any better. You had started developing frequent pains in your chest and you couldn’t stop coughing up flower petals. It started with one or two once or twice a day, and over time increased to four or five petals up to three times a day. Luckily, you were able to sense the petals rise painfully up your throat, and it gave you enough time to make a hurried excuse to get away from the others before being thrown into a coughing fit.

Even with the pain, there was no chance in hell you were going to tell anyone about the disease. It was your fault for being so emotional, especially during such a busy period. Nobody had the time to look out for you and worry, you could make it through this on your own.

But you found that the heartache you felt over Senku only grew with time. Unfortunately, your feelings didn’t fade in the slightest, but only grew stronger and stronger. I mean how could they not? Watching him sprawled over blueprints with a slight pout, listening to him ramble about the science behind this and that- it was all so endearing. You wanted desperately to tell him how you felt and to have your feelings reciprocated, but that wasn’t an option. You could never be intimate in the way you wanted to be with Senku.

You were painfully reminded of this on days where Senku was a bit more reserved than usual. When he would retreat into the observatory or the lab for hours, or when he seemed particularly serious about the mission, avoiding  jokes and keeping conversation outside of the cell phone to a minimum. You felt like you were straying away from him, and on these days, your condition worsened and was became increasingly more difficult to hide.

Soft touches you initiated had him feigning ignorance, moving away from you and continuing his work. Questions you asked about himself were quickly shut down and maneuvered to more science talk, and you'd retreat from him after failing to be further let into his heart throwing up more and more pretty yellow petals.

-

After months of hard work, the cell phones (yes, phone(s). Can you believe Senku didn’t tell anyone that TWO were needed?) were complete. A plan was formed to send Gen, Chrome and Magma to hand off one of the phones to Taiju and Yuzuriha, Senku’s modern day friends who were spies within the Tsukasa Empire, and get them to convince other members to join the Kingdom of Science by telling an elaborate lie.

It was the evening prior to Gen, Chrome and Magma’s departure. Everyone was asleep except for you, who sat under a tree staring at the stars, coughing up more petals here and there. The hanahaki disease didn’t make it easy to sleep and on a good night, you’d only wake up once. You collected every flower petal you threw up and kept them all in small, secret pouches you had sewn into your clothing. You were miserable. Nothing you tried was helping cure this illness that, only a year ago, you were certain was fictional. You knew nothing about the sickness either, working with barely any information on how to rid yourself of this wretched sickness.

The only cure you could think of was the most straightforward one- your romantic feelings needed to be returned. The illness seemed to be connected to one-sided love, so surely if Senku returned your feelings, you would be cured, right?

But that was never going to happen. Senku hadn’t once expressed any romantic interest in you or anyone else. And if you were to tell him that the only way you could avoid death was by having your feelings returned, that’d put a massive weight on him. You couldn’t do that. You couldn’t let Senku feel like he had killed you.

You coughed again, this time a little more violently, and covered your mouth. God, you hated this.

“You sure do have quite the asty-nay cough there.” A voice sang and cut through the still air.

You quickly put your hands down and turned your head toward the owner. Only a distance away was the mentalist, a small smile dancing on his face as he approached you and took a seat at the foot of the tree beside you.

“It’s quite chilly. Wish spring would come already.”

“What are you doing out here?”

Gen chuckled and craned his neck to look at you. “Couldn’t sleep and decided to come out to get some fresh air. I have quite the role in this scheme, it’s stressful, you know?”

You rolled your eyes at his whining, continuing to gaze up at the stars.

“It must also be stressful covering up that dreadful hanahaki disease.”

Your eyes widened and you quickly whipped your head to look at him, but his gaze had left your face, now staring off into the same sky. Shit, I’m figured out. Do I play dumb?

“No point in trying to hide it from me, dear Y/N. I’ve been observing you. Your symptoms are all too familiar.” Gen sang again. Damn. It’s like he read my mind. And in a way he did. He is a mentalist after all. But how would he know of the hanahaki disease? It must’ve existed in his time.

“Yes, us modern-timers also dealt with hanahaki. Lots of lives were lost over it. It’s quite poetic, honestly. Death by flowers.” Gen commented in an airy tone. “The more pressing question is, how do you know of it? You didn’t recognize pneumonia but know of this?”

“It was briefly mentioned in one of the 100 tales. Nobody in the village had ever borne the sickness, so I assumed it wasn’t real. Well, that was until…”

The light-heartedness of the conversation quickly faded away. Gen’s face was now hard, mouth formed into a frown, and you sighed.

“Of course you would’ve been the first to get suspicious.”

“You mean dear Senku hasn’t figured you out yet? That’s surprising, but you know better than anyone that our Senku is no idiot. He’ll find out soon enough. And what do you plan to do when he confronts you?”

“He won’t. I’ll cover it up so he has no need to get suspicious and investigate me.”

Gen shrugged his shoulders and an airy smile formed on his face yet again. “I’m sure you already figured out that to cure the hanahaki disease, your beloved needs to return your feelings. But this is Senku we’re talking about, so that seems highly unlikely.”

He even knew that Senku was the person you fell for. How obvious were you? Then again, Gen is a mentalist.

“There is…another way, but it’s impossible in this stone world. You could get surgery to remove the flowers from your lungs, but that’d mean losing the feelings you have for Senku. Even if you were willing to give that up, nobody could help with the operation, certainly not me.”

“So that’s it? I’m out of options?”

Gen’s smile was sour now, and he seemed to be reflecting on something, but his train of thought was interrupted when you started coughing again, not being quick enough to cover your mouth and doubling over to throw up more yellow tulip flower petals onto the grass. Gen stared in horror. You stared in horror.

“I don’t want you to worry about me, Gen. I’ll…I’ll figure something out. I refuse to die. I can’t die. I just can’t leave my friends with that grief and guilt. Plus, they’re busy preparing for the battle against the Tsukasa Empire. I can’t distract them from our goal. I feel horrible putting this on you but please don’t tell anyone.”

Gen stared at you, very obviously having some internal conflict in his head. Eventually he sighed again and his shoulders sagged. “Don’t die, dear Y/N, or else I’ll feel partly responsible.”

-

Nothing was working.

You were convinced you had tried every healing method you could possibly think of. In the summer, you would take hot spring baths. In the winter, you wore layers. You forced yourself to eat and drink plenty (even though the disease gave you a lack of appetite), you trained on the daily (despite being tired), and you kept yourself busy. The coughing would seize for a little while though, and you found that better than being hunched over 24/7.

It had become increasingly more difficult to randomly leave and throw up flower petals though. Someone else will soon figure it out, but you couldn’t predict if that would be before or after the disease had claimed your life.

Gen helped cover for you and you appreciated it beyond belief, but soon enough, it was time for him to take on his task of delivering the cellphone to Taiju and Yuzuriha.

“Don’t start throwing up flowers while I’m gone, dear Y/N.” You also appreciated his lightheartedness throughout the whole thing. It was a bit easier to manage with the mentalist being able to cheer you up just a slight bit.

You were thankful that you and the others had Homura to focus on instead of just sitting and waiting around for the phone to be delivered the entire time, but you were also getting increasingly weaker. You definitely weren’t a prominent fighter however, so nobody was really looking to you for much assistance in the strength department. In lots of ways, things could've been worse.

Senku could’ve found out a lot faster, for example. But he didn’t, and you’ve been able to remain by his side.

In all honesty, you were scared when you first found out you had Hanahaki disease. When you coughed up that first flower petal, a million thoughts rushed into your head and you felt faint, both possibly from your coughing fit and your stress.

You were the only one to have ever endured the Hanahaki disease. Nobody else had ever experienced it, and you didn’t even believe it was real! So when you continued throwing up petals, you were sent spiralling. You were overthinking everything you knew, and while it may have been dramatic, you felt lost and scared. It made you think about your relationship with Senku as well. You feel guilty for accidentally putting this weight on him without his knowledge, for putting this weight on the entirety of Ishigami Village.

The sickness seemed to subside while working alongside Senku and Gen in convincing members of the Tsukasa Empire to join over to the Kingdom of Science, at least for a little while. You were close with Senku, and you didn’t need to grieve over anything for a little while. You could just focus on the present. You could simply be content with the little nods of affirmation he'd give you accompanied with a small smile.

If this was how you were to meet your end, you’ll be happy just to have known this incredible man.

The rest seemed like a blur after getting Ukyo to join Senku. The Kingdom of Science was starting to prepare its infiltration of the miracle cave after Chrome had returned safe from his capture, and the battle was a haze. There were many close calls, many times you thought you wouldn’t be able to uphold the agreement that no blood would be shed. You were scared you were going to lose the people you love.

But in the end, you reigned victorious. Tsukasa had teamed with Senku to take down Hyoga, and the rest of you had worked to capture Homura. As you were all making your way back to your base, you stopped to stare at the sun approaching the horizon.

“It’s hard to believe but finally...it’s over.”

A laugh you were all too familiar with. You turned around to see Senku climbing up to join you at your side. “Are you making a joke or what? That’s backwards. Right now, we’re finally getting started. We got all these people to work together with us, to build a real kingdom of science.”

You looked over at him in all his glory as the rising sun basked you both in its glow. Another chapter was beginning, another with Senku in it, another promised to be just as exciting and eventful as the last. Your heart soared.

-

Senku is upset. Obviously he’s upset, he has to kill his dying friend. You had seen the more colder and distant parts of Senku before, but you had never imagined him being so emotional, so delicate. Your heart had wings just a while ago, and now it was as if you had flown too close to the sun, getting your hopes up that everything would work itself out.

It was around this time that everyone was coming together that you were entering the final stages of your sickness. Flowers were blooming in your lungs, and it was now permanently difficult to breathe. It became near impossible to disguise your wheeze and sharp inhales, not being able to explain to the people who love and care for you that you were slowly dying.

You knew you didn’t have much time left, and you were getting panicked. You didn’t have any time to think of other possible cures, and you didn’t have the strength to pursue any projects. Were you seriously doomed?

“Maybe not, dear Y/N.” Gen. What did he mean by that? “I just so happened to find some leftover panacea while clearing out the lab,” and at that, your eyes widened as Gen held up a leaf with the drug. Of course. The cure all sulfa drug. How did you not think of this sooner?

“The thing is, I have no idea if this’ll work. I’ve never heard of a drug being able to cure hanahaki. Hell, it may even kill you immediately! But, if it’s meant to be a cure-all drug, why not give it a try?”

There was no time to waste. Gen immediately gave you the medicine to take, and you two waited anxiously to see what happened. A minute passed. Two. Five. Okay, so you weren’t dead, that was a good sign.

Hours passed, and you didnt cough up a single flower or petal. By the end of the day, you had nothing to stuff your pockets with. You had never hugged anyone harder in your life.

By morning the next day however, Gen found you in your tent limp and unmoving. His eyes widened at the scene in front of him and tears formed, rushing off to call for help and being forced to tell everyone about your condition. Tulips. Yellow tulips drenched in blood, some sticking to your face and arm, some on the ground.

The drug had gotten rid of your symptoms for a little while, but didn’t actually cure you. Neither you nor Gen were medical professionals in the slightest and had no idea how to go about using the antibiotic on the hanahaki disease. Maybe if you took it regularly, you would've lived. Maybe if you had taken it earlier. Maybe.

The feeling was bittersweet. In your last moments, you could see your life flash before your eyes, and you internally laughed at the clichĂŠ. You saw yourself grow up in the village, befriending Kohaku, Chrome, Ruri, Kaseki and Suika. You saw yourself hunched over Senku to watch him experiment with something, a smile on his face and your eyes wide with awe. You saw many memories with Senku, some of them being times where you felt like you had a chance. Times when you caught Senku staring at you, rare times where Senku showed a bit more vulnerability and talked more openly about his past. He grew just like you did, and you did it together.

You hoped he would forgive you. You hoped everyone would, because in the end, you didn’t regret loving Senku Ishigami. Hopefully in the next life, you were able to start that next chapter with him.

so cute. So Cute. SO CUTE ♡ *-*

messenger [tsukishima kei]

Messenger [tsukishima Kei]

synopsis: you and yamaguchi are best friends with tsukishima. nearly everyday girls come up to the two of you to ask about the blonde and you both have had just enough. little do you know that yamaguchi has a plan of his own to get the chatting to stop...

notes: based off the sole fact that it's canon that girls only go up to yamaguchi to ask him about tsukki, which obviously means he's popular with girls. this was originally written as a stand-alone but i decided to submit it for lexi's @suckerforsugawara first time for everything collab! i apologize for how late this is, writer’s block got the best of me.

warnings: reader is very much in their head, angst at first but eventual fluff with good ending

word count: 4kei

for as smart as tsukishima kei is, he sure is oblivious to how girls flirt with him.

everyday a good number of girls around campus whisper and talk about how they find the blonde middle blocker attractive. about how much a good boyfriend he would make. it amazes you to no end how much the tall and silent type attract people. you could probably end up rich with how much you hear about him, because there's seriously not one day where you don't hear his name.

at first, most of the comments make you laugh. over time though, you begin to roll your eyes and scoff. you don't understand why so many people like him. half the time you see how tsukishima interacts with hinata and kageyama and it isn't in the nicest or most pleasant way. it just looks like a complete circus act. you truly feel sorry for daichi and suga.

tsukishima is just...mean. if you had a boyfriend who treated you like that, you'd dump him on the spot.

but maybe you are a hypocrite because while you think of all these things, you're still friends with him.

...if you can even call it that—you're sure tsukishima just 'tolerates' you. but the fact that you and yamaguchi are the two he spends the most time with obviously means something. he also begrudgingly helps you with your homework and walks you home from class all the time.

it means something...right?

today is no different from many other days as you watch hinata and kageyama get into a heated screaming match about god knows what. tsukishima is on the side snickering to yamaguchi. everyone else is helplessly by standing.

but you, on the other hand, are in your own little world. you're one of the managers for karasuno university's volleyball team. currently, you're filling up water bottles for the team. being in the role as manager, you've become a master at zoning out hinata and kageyama's bickering.

but you did not expect that this skill would one day work against you.

"hinata, kageyama! watch out!" ennoshita shouts, but it's already too late. you feel the unruly force of a volleyball hit you, making you drop the bottles you're filling up and spill water on the ground.

"are you okay?" yamaguchi rushes to help you to your feet, shooting the offending people a small glare. kageyama and hinata shiver at tadashi's gaze and begin to profusely apologize.

"i'm okay, yams. thank you." you dust off your clothes and laugh, "it's nothing i can't help when those two get carried away."

"we are so sorry!" hinata cries, nearly tripping over himself to get to you. kageyama sheepishly let's out a 'sorry' before his face flushes a bright red.

you open your mouth to assure them you're fine, but a certain voice beats you to it.

"are you two that incompetent that you'll take out our manager in the middle of one of your childish games?" the voice hisses. "i knew the two of you were stupid, but you both surprise me every day. i have to start lowering my bar more."

you don't have to turn to know who it is.

tsukishima turns to you, a displeased look on his face. if you squint, you can see his concern. "and you really need to work on watching your surroundings. i'd rather not have to take you to the hospital." he scolds, picking up the bottles from the ground. he swats your hand away when you reach out for them and you puff out your cheeks, frustrated.

he always does this, where you can't tell if he cares for you, or if he's just being mean. maybe you’re reading into things too closely.

you watch his eyes scan your figure intently and you flinch when you feel him touch you. your breath hitches at how close he is, close enough to see the specks of gold in his eyes from behind the lenses of his sports googles.

his hand gently turns your face to either side, "are you hurt anywhere?"

at the feeling of his hand on your arm, you feel it burn at the source of his touch.  you quickly recover and answer that you're fine. he studies your face for a moment longer to detect if you're lying but doesn't prod for any more answers.

not too far away does yamaguchi note the gesture between you two, but doesn't say anything.

the rest of practice runs by smoothly and you have practically forgotten that you were hit with a volleyball. before you know it, it's over and everyone calls it a day before filing out to the lock room.

tsukishima announces that he has to go somewhere after practice and for you and yamaguchi to not wait up for him. neither of you question him on his whereabouts because chances are he won't even tell you anyways.

as punishment for hitting you with the volleyball, kageyama and hinata are responsible for cleaning up the gym and locking up, which gives you the advantage of getting home early. down to two, you and yamaguchi start your trek home, the convo floating between school, volleyball, and other interests.

"yamaguchi-san?"

the two of you turn at the sound of a girl. she looks anxious and nervous and holds a pink envelope in her hands.

"hi! what can i do for you?" he smiles, green eyes bright and inviting.

the girl seems to gain confidence at yamaguchi's smile. "i have this confession for tsukishima-kun...but i don't know how to give it to him, so i was wondering if you would give it to him for me?" the girl explains shyly. her eyes shift to you and widen. "you're not dating tsukishima-san are you?"

your eyes widen at the accusation and you bust out a laugh, hard. maybe too hard.

"me? date him? i could never!"

after your embarrassing and short-lived laughing party, yamaguchi reluctantly agrees to take the letter to give to tsukishima. a strange feeling wells up in your chest at the sight, and you don't know why you felt disappointed in him doing so.

as soon as the girl leaves, you see yamaguchi's shoulders sag and his smile fades.

"what's wrong, yams?" you nudge your best friend in the side, noting the way he picks at the skin on his hand anxiously.

"nothing," he answers, "we need to get going now."

you pull him back. "it's not 'nothing'. come on, what is it?"

you watch as he takes a moment to gather his thoughts before he replies, "i appreciate and care about tsukki and all, but it really sucks that girls only talk to me about him." he pouts, puffing out his cheeks.

"it's probably because you're much more approachable than mr. blonde beanpole." you suggest, shrugging your shoulders. "frankly, I don't know why or what people see in him. he's not very people-friendly. plus he always walks around with a scowl on his face. but i too wish they would stop asking us about him. what did suckyshima do to get so many confessions all the time..."

your freckled faced friend raises his brows, amused by your passionate rambling. "are you jealous?" he asks, head tilting in inquiry.

"w-what? no! why would i be?" you scoff, feeling your heart race in your chest. "the only thing i'm jealous of is that beanpole blonde's attention." you say. "i would very much like to be confessed to as often as he gets!"

"you would hate it," yamaguchi chuckles, "you don't even like getting attention. especially from guys."

you click your tongue, not knowing how to disagree with him. "maybe, but it wouldn't hurt to have it happen once in a while, you know?" you sigh, "i can't go my entire life without experiencing a confession!"

you must've had a terrible past life to have such an unlucky dating experience. you've never had a guy ask you out. and while you don't like to be arrogant you consider yourself cute and a decent person—more so decent than glasses-kun.

"well, more guys would approach you if it wasn't for tsukki." yamaguchi says, and immediately upon speaking covers his mouth.

you raise a brow at your friend, "eh? what do you mean by that?"

before he can answer, you huff, "you're telling me blondie is messing up my love life? what does he gain from doing that?" you huff, feeling irritated that the number of cute boys you could've encountered is very little due to the fact that they were being cockblocked by the most annoying person on the planet.

yamaguchi would never tell you, and god bless your soul, but he's forever thankful for how oblivious you are at times. his skin is saved from having to explain to tsukishima why his crush on you has been outed.

but on the other hand, he desperately wants these confession shenanigans to be over with and for the two of you to confess to each other. to him, it's painfully obvious that there are shared feelings but neither one of you want to acknowledge the fact that there's something going on. he'd rather take the risk of tsukishima biting his head off if it means you two will end up together.

"let's just say that the two of you complain about each other too much for there not to be something going on between you two." yamaguchi says. "i just wish you'd both make out with each other or something."

panic swarms you, at the meer thought of locking lips with blondie. "tadashi, i would never be caught kissing him. i'd rather be dead." you say sternly, although an itch in your throat tells you otherwise.

"yeah, i totally got the vibe of that earlier when he came over to see if you were okay." he laughs, rolling his eyes.

"it didn't mean anything, he was just oddly nice..." you argue, the rapid beating of your heart mocking you.

the sudden silence could be cut through with a knife as you two walk. your knuckles grip your bag tightly as you focus on your feet in front of you.

"your crush never went away, right?" yamaguchi stops walking and looks at you intently.

when you don't respond, he knows his answer.

"that's another reason why i don't like getting these confessions. i don't want to see you get hurt by all of this." he reveals, his hand gripping the pink envelope he was given earlier.

"it doesn't matter, though. what i feel is irrelevant.” you shrug.

yamaguchi perks up, a light bulb going off. he presses the envelope to your hands. "you give this to him. you can find out what he says about the letter and how it makes him feel. he might act differently. that way, you can also decide if those feelings for him are still there, or if you've moved on. if you haven’t, then confess."

you turn away, not taking the envelope. your feet then move briskly. "what makes you think that he would accept my confession? there's no way he would."

"what's stopping you?" he presses, following you. "you don't know that unless you try."

a sharp exhale of air escapes you, your nerves taking your own words out of your mouth. "because i don't want to make a relationship awkward possibly. besides, he'll just make fun of me for having a crush on him and then reject me. so no way is tsukki going to accept it."

"he wouldn't do that. and you know he wouldn't. look, we both know tsukki better than anyone else does. i'm surprised at how blind you are to how he feels about you. or maybe you're denying it?"

before you can reply, you realize you've reached your apartment.

"just think about telling him? it'll ease your mind somehow, won't it? at least you'll have your answer and you can stop letting this eat at you the way it has for years." yamaguchi says, concern written on his face.

you sigh. "sure, tadashi. i'll think about it."

Messenger [tsukishima Kei]

you don't get a wink of sleep that night. and despite you wanting more time to think, you are meeting up with tsukishima and yamaguchi to hangout the next day. so even if you want to put off your thoughts about the situation, you can't.

"you look like shit," tsukishima says once you sit down at the cafe the three of you always meet up at. "like a zombie with the life is sucked out of them.”

“wow, how did you guess?” you say, response dripping with sarcasm.

a guilty look appears on his face before he changes it to a softer expression. "here, i already ordered for you." he says, pushing your favorite order across the counter.

"oh, thank you. you didn't have to." you reach into your bag to pay him back, but he pushes your hand away, a grimace on his face.

"yeah, well i did anyways." he says, turning away. a faint hue of pink can be seen across his cheeks. “you should really try not to over exert yourself. we can’t afford to have our manager collapsing.”

you stare at the drink, mind rambling. “right…”

tsukishima distracts himself with the time, noticing how late yamaguchi is. it isn’t like him to be late. once the male checks his phone, everything clicks into place.

"tadashi says he won't be able to make it to the movies." tsukishima tells you, slipping his phone back in his pocket.

"really?" you go to pull your own phone out of your bag to check, but something else catches your eyes first.

the pink envelope.

you gasp, gritting your teeth. "tadashi, you bastard..." you hiss, wondering when he slipped it into your bag.

"yeah, something about feeling sick..." the tall man's eyes slide down to look at you, and as attentive as he is he asks, "what are you grumbling about?"

you eyes glance between him and the letter, panic washes over you as you try to improvise a lie.

tsukishima leans over, peering into your bag. “what is that?” he asks.

solemnly, you hand him the pink envelope. cotton has lodged itself in your throat but you manage. "this...this is for you."

“from?” he questions, but he already knows it’s not you. you don’t dot your i’s like that.

“the usual. some girl with a crush on you.” you answer, “she didn’t know how to give it you directly.”

opening the letter, his brown eyes scan the contents carefully, silence overcoming him as he drinks in each word.

meanwhile, your heart races rapidly. you can feel yourself beginning to spiral in your mind, thinking of all the possibilities of what could happen next after he finishes reading the letter. instead of hearing anything, the blonde simply puts the letter back in the envelope.

“let’s go.” he says, standing up to leave.

wait...that's it? you watch him leave the cafe and scramble after him, confusion trailing you.

when you catch up to tsukishima, your eyes glance at him, trying to gauge anything. something.

"well?" you ask, brow arching up.

"'well' what?" he replies, staring at you expressionless.

"are you...going to accept?" you prod, leg bouncing.

the man seems to contemplate your question, not answering for a moment. the anticipation is killing you. swallowing you whole. you have to say something before you’re buried alive.

"don't accept that confession." you blurt.

"huh?" the blonde slips the envelope in his pocket. "and why not?"

you shift uncomfortably in your spot. "b-because."

"'b-because', isn't an answer. i hope you're aware." he mocks before stepping closing to you, a sly smirk on his face. "why do you look like you're about to throw up? is the thought of me getting a confession that repulsive to you?"

"shut up!" you hiss, the burning in your cheeks spreading like wildfire now. "i never said that."

"you didn't have to. your face said everything that i needed to know." he replies, "why are you so eager to know anyways?"

you shrug, "i mean, we're friends right? why wouldn't i be curious?"

a soft chuckle leaves him. it's pretty, and pretty looks very good on him. how annoying for your nerves. "right, and let's say i do accept the confession. what would you do then?"

you blink, your hands clammy, body scorching at this point. "dunno, maybe throw a party with a sign that says 'congrats kei, you're lovable after all'."

"you're a horrible liar, you know. it's very annoying." tsukishima scowls, grabbing your wrist and turning you to look at him.

"who said i was going to accept the confession?" he tilts his head to the side, leaning in slightly. "hmm? i think you put that idea in that pretty head of yours all by yourself."

you huff, irritated by his teasing manner."it's not funny to joke like that."

he blinks. "when did i make a joke?"

"you always do...i don't understand you, tsukishima." at this point you can feel your face burning up. you look away from the blonde, frustrated and also internally panicking. when you go to walk away, his large hand catches your wrist, pulling you back.

"so now we're back to tsukishima?" he asks, distaste in his tone.

you bite your lip, too scared to say anything.

he clicks his tongue. "listen, i didn't have to read the letter to know my answer. i didn't even need to receive one. i've already had my mind made up."

a soft 'oh' leaves your mouth. "is that right?"

"yes, because i already have feelings for someone." he confesses, and your heart nearly stops.

you weren't expecting this at all. you bargained for more than you wanted, but it’s your fault and your fault alone. you start to yell in your head about how wrong yamaguchi is, about how you're too late to confess now, because someone else has already stolen—

"this is for you." tsukishima hands a eerily similar pink envelope to you with a small plushie. your eyes widen as you look at the plush, recognizing that it's your favorite animal. you remember talking about how you still sleep with stuffed animals and made the mistake of having tsukishima overhear you. the teasing that day never ended.

when squeezing the plush to you, you're surprised to hear it play your favorite song. reading the letter, you recognize the handwriting as his immediately. you're familiar with how he loops his y's and g's. you recognize the eloquence in his words. but you feel alien reading how he pours his emotions—about you—into words. words that are a lot kinder and sweeter than his usual moments.

"why would i joke about my feelings?" he answers, pulling at his hands, fingers fidgeting. "if you don't reciprocate them—"

"no! i-i mean, yes! yes, i do!" your face is on fire at this point. "i'm just shocked, i-i wasn't expecting—"

"for someone to be into someone like you?" he finishes.

you blink, stunned by his response. "well, yeah."

and tsukishima kei does what tsukishima kei does best.

he flicks your forehead.

he rubs the spot where he flicked your forehead and his gaze becomes soft as he stares at you, his large hands not pulling back from how it gently cradles your face.

"i've been into your annoying ass since you yelled at those bullies for picking on tadashi." he mumbles, a fond look in his eyes.

your eyes look over him rapidly. "i don't get it. how? why?"

he pinches your cheek, rolling his eyes. "you keep saying that and it's really annoying." he continues, "it's simple. you're...you're a much better person than i am. you're smart...and funny. and you understand me even when my words don't always say what i mean. you've pushed me to be a better person." he tries to make himself smaller, wanting to escape his vulnerability, but it's hard when you're a walking lamppost.

"i can't stand the sight of other guys looking at you. at thinking they have a chance with you. call me a hypocrite because i know i'm the last person who deserves a chance with you, but—" he cuts himself off, fiddling his his hands.

"but what, kei?" you push, heart pounding.

"but i want one anyways. i've never felt like this with anyone before and i don't want to stop now. i...i'm willing to take the chance to ask to go out with you...even if i know you deserve better than me." he explains, head bowing low.

this time, you reach up and flick his forehead.

"ow? what the hell, dumbass?" he scowls.

"it's annoying when you do that, too," you say, teasing, "you always undermine how brilliant you are and it has to stop. you may be an asshole, but you're also perceptive, and caring, even if you don't really know how to show it in conventional ways."

he doesn't say anything because he knows you're right.

you speak again. "for the record, i think that you're pretty amazing. and a lot of other people think so too. learn to give yourself more credit, kei."

"i can say the same about you." he says, brushing hair back from your face. his eyes shift down to your lips before looking away just as quickly. his single strand of vulnerability left snaps.

"c-can i kiss you?" he stutters, and you're shocked to see the snarky blonde asshole you know in such a shy state.

"yes," you breathe, "please."

he can’t resist when you ask so nicely and look so pretty right in front of him.

and what you learn is that kei's kisses are sweeter than any words that can come out of his smart mouth. how that is possible, you don't know. but you surely don't mind at all.

he tugs you close to his body, his scent overtaking your senses. he smells like mint and whatever cologne he put on today and it's easily your new favorite aroma.

you pull away and can't help but note how pretty kei looks after kissing. hair disheveled, swollen lips, glossy eyes, and glasses nearly falling off his face. you quietly laugh and push the frames back up his face.

"i love you, you know." you say, holding his face.

he leans into you, kissing your palm as he reciprocates the words in a quiet voice. a quirk in his lips and he adds, "i would hope you do. i don't want to be seen having to return to build-a-bear for a second time to return a bear."

you grin, holding up the bear teasingly. "this plush?"

"oni-chan said i should give you something...that you'd appreciate. it's yours as long as you don't replace me with it." he answers, red creeping up his neck. "if you do, i'll return it."

"don't worry, kei. i promise not to replace you with a stuffed animal when i need cuddles." you latch onto his arm, clinging to him easily. he tugs you impossibly closer.

sending yamaguchi a text thank you and a picture of you with your new bear—now named tadashi—with an annoyed tsukishima holding you tight in the photo. 'new family photo! you were right!'.

yamaguchi only grins at the message, laying back on his bed as he smiles. his work as cupid is over. he'd figure out the third wheeling issue later.

for now, mission accomplished.

37.  "See what happens if you rub your ass on me like that again."

47.  "I know we're just friends but you're sitting on my lap and I'm so sorry if I get hard."

I'm an idiot and forgot to put the full prompt so here! For donnie with a gn reader :3

Sjakdkfwlend of this is gonna be FUN!

Rated Steamy?

37. "See What Happens If You Rub Your Ass On Me Like That Again."

Torturing Donatello should be a professional hobby and if it was you were the president and CEO of it.

Honestly at this point it was more so about seeing how quickly you could get him to squirm. It would all be easier if he just confessed to the piece of information you had found out about a few months back.

A little birdie turtle had snitched to you that Donnie was basically head over heals for you. Raph could be quite the gossip if you caught him in the right mood. Truth be told it was kinda obvious but it never hurt to make sure.

And thus your torture games had taken some fun twisty turns. Currently speaking of said torture you had waltzed into his lab and found the nerd playing some computer game. A nice change of pace for his usual workaholic tendencies. You were intrigued and asked him to let you play a round, naturally he’d said yes.

So you scooted into the space between him and the desk and sat on his lap. Donnie went rigid, immediately into ‘where the fuck do I put my hands’ mode. Grabbing the controller you set out to play the game, every so often re-accommodating in your ‘seat’.

This was hell and yet it was heaven for him.

Ok maybe somewhere in the middle of Purgatory because yes, you were sitting on his lap and wow you were just so pretty and warm and where the fuck does he put his hands??

“Anyway you can illegally send me this game? It’s a lot of fun” You smiled, fingers gliding over the controls. All Donnie could do was make a choking sound that sort of sounded like a ‘yeah yeah’. During an unexpected moment there was a jump scare in the game, startling you enough to bounce just so on his lap.

It was the first moment in his twenty plus years on this earth that he started praying.

Distractions, he needed distractions.

“If you head down the corridor there’s a secret level” He sounded somewhat strained, which only served to make you smirk to yourself.

Each jump scare, each second you adjusted in your seat, it was a second closer to Donnie feeling like he was going to combust. The embarrassment alone not to mention that you would probably think him to be a pervert.

Also why did you have to smell so good? That shampoo really did wonders. Trying to make the best of this odd but nice situation, he took the moment to admire bits of you he couldn’t really get to do so. The back of your neck, the width of your shoulders, that adorable birthmark. The little huff and puffs of frustration when you lost. Something so minuscule as how pretty your ears were.

Donnie often thought about kissing little odd sections of your body. Like the middle of your back, the inside of your arm.

Your thighs, all of your thighs.

Your rear.

He swallowed, face heating up. Your brows shot up.

Donnie blabbed out before you could maybe just ignore it. “I know we’re just friends but you’re sitting on my lap and I’m so sorry if I get hard” He slapped a hand over his face, lifting his glasses up along the process.

Then you had the actual audacity to start laughing which only made you move more on his lap. He reached out and gripped your waist firmly. “Oh my god, this is too much!” You leaned back, still in a fit of laughter and rested against his plastron, from your side view you could see him honest to god pouting.

“Hey it’s a natural biological response, right? I’m not upset by it” If anything you mentally were sweating, the size of it was...

Blinking out those thoughts you tapped his chin with the controller. Donnie turned enough to be able to look at you, brow ridges still knitted in the middle with frustration. “I’m sure I’d be going through something similar if I had you on my lap” You smirked triumphantly when he raised his brows.

“Y/n im not exactly thrilled to be telling you that I’m... that I’m into you while I have a freaking boner” He closed his eyes, groaning that this his actual life right now.

“Don boy, I’ve been subtle about it for a while now, had to break the big guns for this” You shrugged, trying not to laugh at his expression of despair.

Big guns, eh?

Donnie through caution out the window for this, a means to at least get the upper hand for all this time of torture you caused him. Placing a hand on your cheek he pulled you in and kissed you. Your eyes went wide, surely not expecting him to have it in him to do this.

So you kissed him back, even at the slightly odd angle, you kissed him and tried to hold back the excitement of it all. Donnie’s lips felt absolutely perfect against your own, and for his lack of experience in the department he seemed to be doing a really good job at this whole kissing business. Those large hands of his fanned out across your stomach, making your skin feel nice and prickly with desire. Your hand found the back of his neck, fingers playing with the tails of his mask. When you felt his tongue against your own, you were sure your brain exited the premises. A soft kiss soon turned into a hungrier one. The hard ridge of his length against your rear, his hands gripping the skin of your stomach and his tongue all served to turn you on.

Donnie pulled away with a wet pop, lips parted and a little breathless. Now it was your turn to blush and be at a loss for words. He bucked his hips just a tad, a not so attractive whine escaping your mouth.

Slowly he pushed back onto your feet and got up. The towering terrapin looked down at you.

“See what happens if you rub your ass on me like that again” He spoke with a harsh little swallow. You stood there, speechless.

Donnie turned feeling his pride swell at getting the upper hand this time.

Even he left with a funny walk and made a be line to the bathroom.

Stealing Killua’s turtlenecks

-I have risen from the dead to make this post specifically -i can’t get over how adorable this boy is (in his own right lmao) -bullet points because I am too tired to write an actual one-shot (it’s 2:45 in the morn lmaooooo) -established relationship + aged up

Stealing Killuas Turtlenecks

-killua’s shirts look very comfy, be honest here lmao -he wears them all the time except when it’s sweltering hot (like on Whale Island–it’s way too hot there) -just seeing Killua bask in sunlight by the windowsill on a stormy night makes you wonder how comfy his shirts are -when Killua is off to have lunch and train with Gon, you decline -’I’m taking an active rest day today, you guys have fun’ -pfft, the heck is an active rest day? Killua has no clue. He brushes it off in favour of shrugging and bidding you a good day -that’s when you rummage through Killua’s room and find his shirts -they smell nice, like candy and chocolates (but not in a sense to overpower your nose) -it’s a soft smell and reminds you of childhood -killua’s shirts are very soft, you can’t help but flop on his bed and pull up the turtleneck -it’s sooooo soft -no wonder he wears them so often! -if it weren’t for the cool autumn air though, you would be sweating like crazy -it starts to rain outside as you lazily lay in bed -you wonder if Killua and Gon will stay out to train or come back home early -eventually you begin to fall asleep -it’s very cold in Killua’s room since he left the window open, and with the rain pelting outside, a draft causes it to feel like Siberia -but Killua’s turtleneck is warm and soft against your skin, like a warm hug that refuses to let you go -and his scent? Well, it feels like Killua is there with you, even though you know he’s out and about training/having lunch -eventually you fall asleep cuddled in the sheets -it’s too late when you realise the door has opened. Your eyes snap open and the familiar voice of your boyfriend fills your ears -”(Y/n)?” he calls. “I brought you something back for lunch. You’re always hungry, so I thought you’d want some. It’s your favourite.” -usually, you’d burst from your room and race through the halls to tackle Killua in a thank-you hug (just to see him get all blushy and flustered) -today? Well, you’re panicking -if Killua so much as sees you in his shirt, you’ll never hear the end of it -he’ll bully you to death with that stupidly handsome face of his, then make you all embarrassed and -the door opened before you could finish that thought -uh oh, it seems Killua is much too sharp for your groggy mind -he stares at you for a good moment before letting out something between a laugh and a snort -you see the look in his eyes. He’s ready to tease you to death -”Killua, if you’re gonna say anything mean–” -instead, he rips off the sheets and hauls you into his arms -he’s very strong (but so are you) -suddenly he’s burying his face into your shoulder, a cat-like smile on his lips -”You missed me that much? I was only gone for like, five hours.” -his lips are on yours and you swallow back a snarky retort to savour the gentle way he looks into your eyes -gosh, when he looks at you like that, it makes your heart melt

It just makes my heart beat ^-^ so cute

sakusa kiyoomi doesn’t believe that you’re his ‘first love’. he’s never dated anyone before you, never even gotten close to holding hands with another, but still, he would never consider you his ‘first love’.

it nearly broke your heart when he mentioned it, casually bringing it up while making dinner together after announcing your engagement to his teammates. you had genuinely thought he was about to break up with you.

“they were all talking about how great it is that i’m marrying my first love,” he said, “but i think they’re wrong; you’re not my first love.”

you didn’t know how to react, all words had gotten stuck in your throat. hands freezing midair, nearly dropping the wooden spoon you were holding, your eyes shot to him in worry.

“not because you’re not the first person i have ever loved,” he continued, cupping your face with his right hand after letting a fond chuckle leave his lips, “but because you’re the only person i’ll ever love. saying you’re my first love implies someone will come after — but that will never happen.”

his free hand took the spoon that had almost slipped as he brought his lips to yours. the soft, loving smile that graced his lips as you parted reminded you that he’s yours and will always and forever be.

“my only love,” kiyoomi whispered, making you fall in love with him all over again.

Conversations Under Constellations

it wasn’t often that senku would ask to meet you alone, especially when he was busy working on a new contraption. along with the chilly weather, there were clear skies making the stars in the night sky more visible than usual.

you were sitting alone a top of a hill silently watching the stars while waiting for senku to join you. senku knew how much you loved stars but with so much to do around ishigami village, you and senku rarely get any alone time to talk about it. he was not going to miss the chance to spend time with you and tell you all about what he knew about constellations.

“the constellation you’re looking at right now is called cassiopeia.” a voice from behind said, interrupting you from your thoughts. you turned around to meet senku’s eyes, relieved that he was finally here. “it’s brightest star is called schedar.”

“is there a certain family it belongs to?” you asked, wanting him to continue. senku sat down next to you which was followed by a cold breeze. hoping you wouldn’t noticed, he moved closer towards you. but you did, and decided to lean your head on his shoulder. much to your surprise, senku didn’t budge yet he could feel his heart racing.

“the perseus family. it has quite a few constellations, like cetus, auriga, and lacerta just to name a couple.” you never failed to notice how much senku loved to talk about astronomy or science in general, but he always had a certain look in his eye when he was talking to you specifically about science.

senku was still a mystery to you. you may have known him for awhile, but he didn’t like revealing much about himself. you knew he cared deeply for his friends and about most of his past, but he rarely shows his emotions.

“i want you to tell me about your favorite constellation or star. and make sure you tell me why.” asking him this did really have any significance, expect for the fact that you genuinely wanted to know.

“i’ve never really thought about it, but if i had to sa…” It was dark out, but the moon light up your surroundings. you looked back up at senku waiting for him to continue, but it had looked like he’d lost his train of thought.

ah, is this what taiju is always on about? he thought to himself. senku could see your face perfectly under the moonlight and god, you were gorgeous. just the way your eyes gleamed with genuine curiosity never failed to make him happy.

“the moon, it’s beautiful tonight.”

Conversations Under Constellations

a/n: ngl, i didn’t know how to make senku confess until literally 5 minutes ago when i discovered the phrase “the moon is beautiful tonight, isn’t it” is an actual way people confess their feelings then i was like 🤨😌
