House Of Leaves

house of leaves

House of leaves is the book you point to when talking of ergodic books as it does in a very easy way to see. It is very hard to read if it is the first ergodic book you read as I did, certain times are so out of left field that I just started skipping johnny's writings and focused mainly on the Navidson record. But all the things that made this book difficult to read was what made me want to read this book more, words climbing up the page both literally and figuratively, the way colored text is used. Some of the best parts of the book are when the Navidson record took more of a back seat. That part is when Karen Green takes the stage as the main character, before this she is left to the wayside as Will Navidson (navy) is the eyes we see through for most of the book. It is a good change of pace to see what she sees after he is eatan my the house. Showing the world around the house by showing what the folks that navy knows think about what he has recorded. Parts of this book feel like I am watching a movie, maybe it is because of my love for the background of movies but it just spoke to me.

At the end of the day it is a good book but it should not be the first ergodic book you read.

Me and au

At the time of my first listen I was on a huge LGBT+ romance kick. But as this podcast has a far bit to do with fanfics I thought that folks on here would love it. When I first listened to this podcast it was not finished but it is now long finished so it's great and I like it. I love the idea of your dad dying and to keep his house you have to send letters (which is so gay) and you fall in love with a lady that grows flowers in her greenhouse (i do that) and she does not know anything about tv or movies. It gets an A for its grade, it does all the things I love in a podcast.

Vigil

I love super heroes with seemingly useless powers that they can use to save the day like crawlers power in my hero vigilante and there are some great things that come from this. I just thought his power was something to the effect of super cognition and not that he never has to sleep, which I love how he uses it. There are some straight up overpowered superheroes in this like they guy that can edit data on inanimate objects. I think it is coming back for another season but i would  not hold your breath for it i tend not to as it is not crazy popular

I give it a Satisfied out of Very Satisfied

Ovule

I used to use this podcast to fall asleep till I started to use the magnus archives and knifepoint horror. I would not recommend this if covid wrecked your life as this has a lot to do with spreadable disease. The main character is a scientist which i love to see just like the archive boom (what i mean by archive boom is after the magnus archives came out and got popular i saw a uptick in archive based shows like the underwood collection, the scarab archives, and out of place. I may go more in depth on this in the future) it gives you a way to go in depth in to a topic of your story but it also limits you to look at it in a context of science. But you can add your characters personal thoughts or experans if they have notes or ideas in or around the meat of your podcast, something to the effect of the supplementary notes in the magnus archives

Illuminae

This book rocks. I love the way this book plays with technology and files, instead of a mouth of god telling us what is going on we are told by a person writing a report about a video and direct instant-messages logs. It gives the feeling of life and feeling from this book. Aidan is one of the best parts of this book, the way that Aidan thinks in a complex and sometimes literally roundabout (funny brit word) way. The best way it shows this is when Aidan is turned back on in the middle of a space war and watches one of the main characters fight the pursuing megacorp ship and Aidan describes this as ‘’like roses in his hands death blooms’’. The way that Aidan speaks moves from extremely like a robot to like a human. Later on in the book Aidan and one of the main characters work together to defeat the pursuing megacorp, Aidan and their dialogue is the best in the book. It shows how little it takes to be human and I do think Aidan cares and wants what is best for the crew of both ships. I have a deep love for AIs in media, and I think Aidan is the best I have seen so far, especially with the way we see Aidans thoughts, the glitches and programs launching to keep the crew safe and his obsession with being merciful really brings him to life.

the leaving

this is a tame book. nun of the formatting is something you have not seen before if you are into strangely formatted books but what it does do well is its use of its formatting. the basic plot of the book is that 6 kids go missing and 5 come back 11 years latter with no memory of the past but with knowledge and skill. we only follow 2 of the 5 kids that come back and the sister of the boy that did not come back. at first i was not a fan of not following all 5 but it makes sense not to as that much wound be to much to track. their is a part when Lucas shakes the hand of a brain scientist and does not what to let go and the first thing that hit me was oh this is going to have a gay sub plot but i was wrong he is just so lonely. the only parts of the book that use strange formatting is when we follow the the kids that came back their names are Lucas and Scarlett. lucas formatting has what reminds me of the life eqashon in the mister mirical comic whare it fills the pannel with darkside is, like a intrusive thoute. scarletts formatting is more like house of leaves ware the words shape to what is going on. i relly liked it. thare are certen parts that i do not like, i am not a big fan of romance but this does it pretty well.

over all i think it is a solid 8/10 its worth your time if you like the idea of exploreing the idea of memory and human canexons

i have typed the word book so much it does not look like a real word
