People hold Mitt Romney in a high regard he doesn’t deserve, and a lot of the “tell-all” memoirs/biographies of politicians that come out are a waste of time, but that excerpt from the new Romney biography going around really grabbed my attention. There’s a lot of interesting things going on in there, not the least of which is that Romney has now become personally obsessed with the potential downfall of US civilization at the hands of the political party he’s spent his entire life supporting

Very easy to mock someone for only realizing this recently, but for a guy like Romney I really do believe that the full scale of this fact has hit him only in the last few years

the trump years kind of have nothing on the bush era … kids today just don’t understand … like. not only did we have a supremely moronic leader. who came to power without actually being voted into the office. who surrounded himself with the most craven people imaginable. but. bush’s lackeys were actually smart. they were lifetime government officials and insiders who knew how the system worked. so they knew how to use the tragedy of 9/11 to whip up the country into a jingoist fervor to carry out their evil plans. and, as if that wasn’t enough, the fashion was bad.

Yeah and their criticisms of the US are stuff like “they overthrew a democratically elected government” as opposed to “I think 9/11 was good” or whatever, unless they’re some wacko fascist fake anti-imperialist who thinks America is too woke.

it's funny how when you actually start to engage with people who are ACTUAL anti imperialists, they rarely talk about the US if they're not from there, because like shockingly there is more stuff going on in the world
