"don't you know too much already ?"
βͺ π«πΆπ΅'π» πΊπ΄π°π³π¬ π¨π» π΄π¬ . ( a collection of lyric starters from an assortment of billie eilish songs .
β β "I don't know anything!"
Comes the immediate shouted reply, his hands balling into fists at his side. He's frustrated. He's angry. ( though perhaps that isn't new. he's been angry for a long time, even before he stepped foot into the pizzaplex ). It's always like this β Michael, brushing him off when he asks about anything regarding that night, anything surrounding Fazbear Entertainment. And when Gregory decides to go seek the answers for himself, Michael is there to put a stop to it.
He says it's to keep him safe. All Gregory knows is he's being kept in the dark, and if he stays there any longer he's not going to be able to see what comes next. How can this be safer for him?
"I don't know shit! You won't fucking tell me!"
He's terrified. Nothing makes sense. He has so many questions regarding that night ( why him? what happened with the other missing children? why did vanny chose the pizzaplex? what was wrong with the other animatronics? what was that thing hiding beneath the floors? ) that keep him awake like a nightmarish mantra. Michael's hiding things from him ; that much had been obvious since he met the man, but it's only grown more apparent the longer they stay in proximity.
"Do you want me to pretend like that didn't happen? Because I can't! I'm already pulled into whatever the fuck this is, so I don't β why can't you just tell me?!"
fun reminder that after the events of SB gregory technically, to public knowledge, remains a missing child β and will likely be remembered as just another causality of the string of disappearances surrounding the pizzaplex. it is ultimately safer for him this way. there's no target on his back for knowing too much, for being unfinished business if no one is sure if he truly made it out of the fire. but it definitely bothers gregory to be thought of as another victim.
I will elaborate on this at some point and yes I am essentially yelling into the void because exactly two ( 2 ) people follow this blog but I don't think gregory had been on the streets for a long period of time prior to sneaking into the pizzaplex. at the most he had been on his own for a week.
that being said, it wasn't his first time being without shelter ; he's been in foster care for several years, and has built somewhat of a habit of running away for a night and ultimately coming back after either being found ( more common ) or seeking the only shelter he really knows is available ( mostly when he was first put in the system ). because of his tendency to run, he gets bounced around houses and guardians a lot.
by the time security breach begins, gregory has been reported as a missing person but there is truly no one bothering to look for him. there's other children, with families waiting for them, that are so much important to find. and that's what makes it so easy for him to walk away with a dead man.
aloe ( how does your muse handle grief? ) from the botanical headcanons?

messily. gregory tries to push aside most of his emotions ( to little success ), and grief is no different. more often than not, it manifests as anger β he lashes out at anyone trying to get close to him, insisting that he's fine when all he's doing is further isolating himself by destroying any support he might gain. it's not intentional ; he's ten, he obviously doesn't quite realize what he's doing. but he doesn't trust other people, and he certainly doesn't want to be vulnerable in front of them. he didn't grow up in a space where he was allowed to understand and feel his emotions.
grief only slips through the cracks when he's too exhausted to keep it entirely at bay, and when it does it's overwhelming. he's a mess, sobbing until it feels like he has no energy left. it's very rare that he'll let someone else see him in this state ( prone to pitching a fit and running away when he feels it coming on, better to be alone than to be seen as a burden ), though if someone does manage to find him gregory isn't exactly able to calm himself down. these moments always make him feel incredibly weak ( emotionally, and just literally from the overflow of it all ), and he'll be subdued for a small period of time afterwards.
