One Last Goodbye

After the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry eventually gets around to telling the Weasley’s all that happened in the last year (and longer, let’s be real) and what led him to facing Voldemort alone. When he gets to the part about the Stone, George freezes. When Harry mentions oh so casually that he dropped it somewhere in the woods and left it there, George can’t breathe. When they all go their separate ways that night, George sneaks off enough ways to Disapparate and ends up on the borders of Hogsmeade. He’s trying to be quiet but he’s breathing too loud and his heart is echoing in his head, and he’s sure the sound is leaking from the hole where his ear used to be. And then he’s in the woods and Lumos just isn’t bright enough and he doesn’t know where he’s going but he’s got to try - and suddenly he sees this perfectly sculpted pebble, obsidian black, and he just knows and he picks it up, turns it over -

“Hey Georgie.”

“Fred.”

Just because someone has made a lot of mistakes in their life does not mean they will always be the one making them. Their hero could become the villain, and it isn’t right to assume that the seemingly broken are the ones that keep breaking things. Sometimes...we’re only broken because other people like to watch the pieces break.

But imagine Tony: who’s own parents were distant and cold, who was raised by his aging butler, who barely ever experienced comforting contact and adoration and love in his life, who suddenly has these four people who are all his AND WHO WANT TO BE and while he’s thinking this he forgets to run so instead he’s completely tackled by a 200lb super soldier and his three kids
