watching martin eden for luca why did no one tell me this movie was fucking fantastic ?? martin is trying to desperately hard to assimilate into the upper class and he charms them just enough to be allowed into their spaces but is not (and never will be) truly accepted; his toxic trait of denying anyone who tries to help him is so fascinating to watch, even when it comes from a place of genuine care he just can’t handle it; the tragedy of thinking (of knowing) you were meant for great things but not having the privilege to make it happen AND EVEN WHEN HE IS FAMOUS THE ONLY TIMES HE IS HAPPY IS WHEN HE’S WITH MARIA AND HIS SISTER, he found happiness living with maria and her family but gave it up in one way or another to strive for something he thought would make him happy WHEN IT NEVER DID he starts hating his own books for the false promise of happiness he thought they’d bring; he’s become someone so far removed from who he was that he watches himself walk by and can’t stop it, can’t turn back time to find that person again

the fact that kendall had the audacity to say to roman’s face that he’s not a real person when NO ONE in that family has ever treated roman like he’s a person,,,, WHAT DID U EXPECT KENDALL ??? once again succession is about how far we can push our family and still expect them to b our family and refusing to take responsibility for actions that cause them harm

screaming into my handsssss AHHHHHH it isn’t about whether it was cake or actual dog food in the dog bowl…..it doesn’t matter whether or not the dog pound was a game or something more sinister….it doesn’t matter whether or not roman “enjoyed” something clearly meant to demean him….it is quite literally about roman being continually denied evidence that he’s a person at all, that he’s someone who gets to have boundaries and say no or too far. anytime he even brings up the idea that someone has been cruel to him they gaslight him into believing it never happened, or that he liked it. he’s a dog, he’s something to be locked up or sent away when he “goes weird” and starts wetting the bed, he’s a moron, etc. i don’t know where i’m going with this or where i want to end it. i feel sick.
