Also, I agree with that anon who wrote that we love your TWS!Steve fics, and there are so many writers who experiment with different AUs and Retired!Steve but you stick to that 2014 era one which I personally think, was the best.

“Stay right here,” Steve tells you, your fingers running over the soft fabric. “I’ll be back in a few.”

You’re grateful for the reprieve, even if it’s just for a little bit while you browse the aisle of fabrics. He’s letting you pick whatever you want, your eyes going to the soft blue as you hear voices behind you. You can’t wait to fix your nest, especially since the nursery is almost finished.

“We are not making a baby mobile with wrenches and hammers,” a voice says with an exasperated sigh. “I give in a lot. I’m not giving in on this.”

“I’m creating life,” another voice points out. “Which means I do what I want.”

Their scents intermingle in the area and you know it’s an Alpha and an Omega. You rub your swollen belly, knowing deep down that you would never be able to speak to Steve that way. The fleeting thought is gone once you pull out more swatches, taking your time with your selections as you spy the Omega turning the corner, her Alpha out of her view as she peers at the fabrics.

She smells good, soft and sweet as she picks up a gray flannel swatch and balks.

“Ugh,” she mutters to herself, taking a step back, her nose wrinkling in disgust. You can tell she’s uncomfortable, her eyes pulling away from the fabrics when they widen at the sight of your mark.

She looks away quickly but you’ve already seen her expression, pulling on your sweater to cover it up.

“Are you okay?” she asks you, her attention solely on you now as you nod. “I didn’t mean to stare.”
