So I had this idea that the White Palace (the one in the game) is a prision made by and for the Pale King, but I never got a strong reason besides regret.

Your theory/undertanding makes so much sense, what if Pale King imprisioned himslef thinking that The Radiance would go after him and leave Hallownest alone, but it was never about that. The Radiance just wanted to be remember. So she never went after the Pale King, and his sacrifice was as useless and the Pure Vessel’s!

I don’t know. There is evidence poiting at the Radiance and the Moth Tribe sharing a hive mind, maybe like the God Seekers? But I doubt that there was a infection previous to the Pale King’s arrival.
