Everyone always talks about “I don’t think about you at all.” But no one EVER speaks about..

“Oh Wilbur, how relaxing it must be to have a mind unburdened by embarrassment.”

There’s something very important about this line that I want to draw attention to, and something that I think a lot of people miss when discussing their relationship, or just avoid.

cQuackity knows exactly what’s happening.

We’ve discussed in-depth how both Wilbur and him are equally obsessed with each other, no doubt about that— we’ve cleared that up (finally.)

But we need to talk about how much Quackity knows damn well that Wilbur is desperately obsessed with him.

After all, cQuackity is a manipulative person. As much as we need to portray him three-dimensionally and not as a “villain” or “evil,” we also need to accept his tendencies— and not just completely erase them as soon as we talk about his relationship with Wilbur. Yes, their relationship is about equality— they are both morally grey people, not one is “better” or “worse” than the other, and that’s what makes them so appealing. The “competition” they have will never truly end as long as they are both still living because two equal things can never be unbalanced, no one will ever win or lose.

However, we still need to talk about the psychology behind their relationship. It’s not healthy, let me get that out of the way— and that doesn’t mean that I don’t adore them. It’s just a fact, they aren’t healthy, and that’s okay. And that unhealthy nature doesn’t come from a power imbalance, we’ve already discussed that they are equals..

However, they also know eachother’s strengths and weaknesses intimately— and that knowledge is used to their advantage.

In this case, Wilbur’s weakness is Quackity himself, and Quackity knows this.

Quackity lying through his teeth and spitting out that Wilbur means nothing to him wasn’t just a spur of the moment insult, he knew exactly the effect it would have— and that’s exactly why he said it.

This isn’t me saying that I think people need to portray Q “worse” in fan-made media, not at all. However, this is me saying that I think people need to portray Q more like what is actually true— he knows what he’s doing. He’s not clueless, bumbling around not knowing what Wilbur is doing or why he’s there. He knows why. Do I think he understands Wilbur’s motivations behind the obsession itself? No, because there’s no way he would know. But he knows that Wilbur is a desperate person, clawing for attention— specifically his.

Just a thought experiment.
