No way I can validate Shiina's Rin being through and through a child in a woman body and for that matter I don't like her anime version either, as a child-like looking woman (though I think that was a pity, because her internal development actually is very interesting), but I must admit it, to have Rin and Kaede reunited is something special to me. The anime robbing us of that was unacceptable, as well as Kaede brushing off the very possibility of Rin's death as if meaning nothing to her when this girl lived for years with the old woman, surely taking root in her heart, being her joy, her sunshine with that spontaneity Rin alone is capable of, and should I be supposed to believe such nonsense plausible? You are not going to fool me like that. Kaede IS a tempered old oak, but at heart... Well, just have a look at the panel above. How Rin is running towards her granny-mommy, how her granny-mommy tightens the grip on her... 😭💔

Hi hello I know we’re all losing our collective fandom mind over those absolutely precious, heartwarming, world-righting inukagmor panels, but I must also draw your attention to these panels from Chapter 31 because the tears won’t stop flowing.

*I’ve tagged this post as hanyo no yashahime spoilers but still placing the panels under a cut*

Kagome learns through videos saved to Towa’s cellphone that her family celebrates her birthday every year. It’s so incredibly sweet! She sees grown!sota for the first time as well as his wife, Moe, and child, Mei. She seems particularly struck by seeing her grandpa and mom.

And Mama Higurashi has a special message to share with her time-traveling daughter:

After this, Towa prattles on about modern supplies she brought back, but Kagome (and me!!) is overcome with emotion and profusely thanks her for this gift. Kagome embraces Towa and I think even bows to her niece, clutching at her while perhaps trembling, to convey her deep and sincere gratitude.

If I could only use one word to describe kagome here, I’d say “relieved.”

Kagome chose to jump down the bone eaters well that final time - unsure if it would ever reopen, unsure if she’d ever see her family again - in order to spend her life by Inuyasha’s side. I don’t think she has any regrets about that decision; on the contrary, he’s the other half of her soul. Plus, their reunion led to Moroha’s birth, and she is their beautiful gremlin baby angel.

But, I think Kagome still misses her family; it’s natural for her to do so. I think the free-flowing tears are proof enough she worries about them: about their health, their happiness, and how they’re faring day-to-day in her absence.

Such thoughts must cross her mind, maybe as quiet whispers in the night during moments of stillness or when something special happens and she wants to share it with them (Moroha’s birth, as an example). She wonders: are they okay? Do they need help at the shrine? Do they miss her? Do they resent her? Do they know she loves them and misses them? Did they forget her? Perhaps the worst one of all: are they still alive in their time?

In a way only a mother can, Mama Higurashi’s comforting words soothe her daughter’s pent-up anxieties - remember this is a voice she hasn’t heard in idk 10-15 years? I don’t know hny so apologies- and like a dam overcome by torrential waters, she burst. Mama Higurashi liberates Kagome from any burden of guilt and anxiety that she carried by telling her not to worry; rather, be happy, and be happy with Inuyasha.

Mama Higurashi didn’t stop Kagome from making that jump. I’m sure she encouraged Kagome to follow her heart, wherever that led her. And then she let Kagome go. Because that’s what any good mother should want for their child: to give them roots and give them wings, even if one day they fly away with those wings; so they can be happy. *is now ugly crying*

But wait! Back to THAT CARD! I MIGHT BE A GHOST TYPING THIS BC MY HEART STOPPED:
