Moon And Stars- Chapter 6
Moon and Stars- chapter 6
Christmas break came and went, Harry, Hermione, and Ron deciding to stay at the castle, Fred and George going to the burrow and Dipper going home with his father.
Harry was upset about finding out that Sirius Black was his godfather, that was clear. Hermione explained everything to Draco, Harry refusing to talk about it.
Dipper seemed more distant than he usually was.
Fred and George seemed shocked by the distance the brunette put between them. He hadn't done that in a while, and that was before the two found out he was a werewolf.
Harry also was upset about his broom. Oliver had tried to convince McGonagall to give him his broom back, but failed.
As the Quidditch cup continued, Slytherin versus Ravenclaw and the Slytherin won. And according to Wood, it was a good new to them, if they beat Ravenclaw, they would take the second place, so with the determination of winning the cup, Wood increased the number of practices up to five session a week.
They also lasted sometimes late into the night. Fred and George would return to the common room exhausted and ready for bed, only to see Dipper sitting on the floor in their dorm, a book opened, a parchment with notes scribbled down on it, and different letters in front of him.
Dipper was busy studying things other than school work, shocking his friends. "You should go to bed." He told them when he heard them enter.
"We thought you were asleep." George told him, taking off his quidditch robes.
"I'm busy." He said shortly, flipping the page of his book and reading the words on the page.
"With what?" Fred questioned, plopping down onto his bed, kicking his shoes off.
Dipper grimaced when one of the older twin's foot was stuck in his face. "Nothing much, just the moon landing."
Fred glanced down at one of the letters, reading the first few words. My dear Remus-
He glanced at Dipper when the younger pushed it away and under the book. "The moon landing huh?"
Dipper shoved the papers into his book, and stuffed a different piece of parchment into his pocket. "I have to go on my rounds, I'll be back in a bit."
They both watched as he walked out without another word.
~
"How's she doing it?" Ron muttered to Harry, as Percy sat next to the red haired boy.
"Doing what?" asked Harry, Percy with a grumpy look at his book before throwing it onthe table.
"Getting to all her classes!" Ron said. "I heard her talking to Professor Vector, that Arithmancy witch, this morning. They were going on about yesterday's lesson, but Hermione can't've been there, because she was with us in Care of Magical Creatures! And Ernie McMillan told me she's never missed a Muggle Studies class, but half of them are at the same time as Divination, and she's never missed one of them either!"
"I don't think she the one need to be worried guys," said Percy " but if you keep wonder, why don't you ask for yourself?" suggested Percy. But Ron know what exactly Percy was trying to do.
"Are you crazy," said Ron " i won't talk to her un-"
But Ron was interrupted by Oliver.
"Bad news, Harry. I've just been to see Professor McGonagall about the Firebolt. She - er - got a bit shirty with me. Told me I'd got my priorities wrong. Seemed to think I cared more about winning the Cup than I do about you staying alive. Just because I told her I didn't care if it threw you off, as long as you caught the Snitch first." Wood shook his head in disbelief. "Honestly, the way she was yelling at me...you'd think I'd said something terrible. Then I asked her how much longer she was going to keep it..." Wood faked Professor McGonagall's voice "'As long as necessary, Wood'... I reckon it's time you ordered a new broom, Harry. There's an order form at the back of Which Broomstick...you could get a Nimbus Two Thousand and One."
As the match against Ravenclaw draw nearer and nearer, Harry constantly asked Professor McGonagall for his Firebolt. And the professor keep giving the same answer, a big fat "NO!" So the only thing on Harry's mind was the private class with Professor Lupin.
And to Harry's luck,he has his broom back and carrying it back to the Gryffindor tower, to the room. Ron was now grinning like a mad man.
"She gave it to you? Excellent! Listen, can I still have a go on it? Tomorrow?" said Ron.
"Yeah, yeah, anything." The two walked out and into the common room where Hermione and Draco were sitting on the sofa doing their homework.
Dipper was sitting on a chair next to the sofa, on the verge of passing out. The full moon was that night, and Fred and George had made the point that he hadn't been getting much sleep.
After they sat down talking with the other two, and Ginny and the twins joined them. Ron went upstairs real quick, but everyone else continued to continue to chat.
"Arithmancy looks terrible," said Harry, picking up a chart and examined it.
"Oh no, it's wonderful!" said Hermione earnestly. "It's my favorite subject! It's -"
But Hermione was interrupted by a loud yell, come from their dorm, causing Dipper to jerk awake, looking around confusedly. The whole common room went quite. And Ron marched down, angrily.
"LOOK!" he bellowed, "LOOK!" he yelled, again.
"Ron, what -?" Draco tried to ask, but was cut off.
"SCABBERS! LOOK! SCABBERS!"
Hermione leaned away from the angry boy, while Draco and Harry looked down the sheet, there was something red on it.
"BLOOD!" Ron yelled into the silence of the common room. "HE'S GONE! AND YOU KNOW WHAT WAS ON THE FLOOR?"
"N - no," said Hermione, stumble throught her words.
It was a ginger cat, or just to be more specific, it was Hermione's cat.
Ron was mad- no not mad, furious with Hermione. Ron believed that Hermione was never taken serious the fact that Crookshanks's attemp on eatting Scabbers. And Ron was still convinced himself on Scabbers was just under somebody else bed, and Crookshanks just there by coincidence. Hermione on the other hand want solid evidence or she will not believe that her cat had eat Scabbers.
And Harry was so sure of Crookshanks had eatten Scabbers, so he tried to convinced Hermione, that's when Hermione loose her temper.
"Okay, side with Ron, I knew you would!" she said shrilly. "First the Firebolt, now Scabbers, everything's my fault, isn't it! Just leave me alone, Harry, I've got a lot of work to do!"
Draco was on her side though. He saw the logic of it, and tried to convince Harry, but the attempt failed.
And Ron had taken the rat loss hard.
"Come on, Ron, you were always saying how boring Scabbers was," said Fred bracingly. "And he's been off-color for ages, he was wasting away. It was probably better for him to snuff it quickly - one swallow - he probably didn't feel a thing."
"Fred!" said Dipper indignantly.
"All he did was eat and sleep, Ron, you said it yourself," said George.
"He bit Goyle for us once!" Ron said miserably. "Remember, Harry?"
"Yeah, that's true," said Harry.
"His finest hour," said Fred, unable to keep a straight face "Let the scar on Goyle's finger stand as a lasting tribute to his memory. Oh, come on, Ron, get yourself down to Hogsmeade and buy a new rat, what's the point of moaning?"
But the final session before the match against Ravanclaw had managed to keep Ron's mind of Scabbers for a while. And Ron had a chance to tried the Firebolt. But before the practice, wood had inform them about the Ravenclaw's seeker, Cho Chang.
Harry managed to catch the Snitch. And so did every other time Wood let the Snitch go, Harry caught it with style. Wood can't even complain, and it was the first.
And Harry had confirm to Wood that no Dementors would be able to stopped him from catching the Snitch this time. As Harry, Ron, and Draco walked to the tower, they chatted about the Firebolt, but then a pair of eyes gleaming out of the darkness of the corridor.
They noticed it was only Crookshanks.
"See?" Ron said furiously, "She's still letting him wander about wherever he wants - probably washing down Scabbers with a couple of birds now..."
Draco and Harry didn't say a thing, and they continued to the tower to have a good night sleep.
The next morning in the great hall, Harry was clearly in a good mood. Fred and George were sitting on either side of the brunette, who had been released from the medical wing the day before, but still exhausted and had his head laid on the table, using one arm as a pillow and the other next to him on the bench. Percy's girlfriend was holding the Firebolt.
"Now, now, Penny, no sabotage!" said the prefect, "Penelope and I have got a bet on," he told the team. "Ten Galleons on the outcome of the match!"
Penelope putted the broom back down, "thanks Harry," then went to her table.
"Harry - make sure you win," said Percy, in an urgent whisper, "I haven't got ten Galleons. Yes, I'm coming, Penny!" and the Prefect bustled off.
As the match come near, the Gryffindor team set off to the locker room, changed to their red and yellow robes, and the weather today seem to be in a perfect condition, it was clear, cool with a very light breeze. Even in the locker room, the team could hear the crowd cheering and screaming.
"You know what we've got to do," said Wood, as they all started to leave the locker room"If we lose this match, we're out of the running. just - just fly like you did in practice yesterday, and we'll be okay!"
The team was stunned by the crowd, tumultuous applause. The Ravenclaw was in their blue robes, standing in the middle of the fireld. And Percy does what he did best, he examined the opponent. The seeker, Cho Chang, was smaller than Harry, and her broom seem to no match for Harry's Firebolt. Davies, a chaser was tall and well-built.
"Wood, Davies, shake hands," Madam Hooch said briskly. The two captain shake hand.
"Mount your brooms ... on my whistle ... three - two - one -"
Percy kicked off, and flew up to grabbed the Quaffle and quickly passed to Angelia, then to Alicia then she score.
"Show her your acceleration, Harry!" Fred yelled, the whole tream managed to heard.
"Gryffindor leads by eighty points to zero, and look at that Firebolt go! Potter's really putting it through its paces now, see it turn- Chang's Comet is just no match for it, the Firebolt's precision, balance is really noticeable in these long -" came from Jordan Lee.
But now the Ravenclaw was pulling back, they had now score three goal.
"HARRY, THIS IS NO TIME TO BE A GENTLEMAN!" Wood roared, catching Harry's attention "KNOCK HER OFF HER BROOM IF YOU HAVE TO!"
But the match continued, Gryffindor managed to take the Quaffle back again, but Fred and George spotted the three Dementors, floating around the Ravenclaw's seeker, near the ground. And Harry was there, draw out his wand, a silver light appeared from his wand, hit directly at the dementors. But that didn't stop Harry from reaching for the Snitch, and grabbed it.
Madam Hooch's whistle sounded. And the whole team lowered to the ground, where Harry was standing. Angelia and Alicia kissed Harry, The twins looked at them weirdly.
"Hey Weasley! You're up! Give your seeker a kiss!" Dipper laughed when Fred flew over to him.
Fred grinned and hovered closer. Dipper watched him warily, only to freeze when a kiss was pressed to his cheek.
His cheeks flushed red, and Fred grinned widely. "Nah, I'd rather not."
"Yes!" Ron and Draco yelled, the red head yanking Harry's arm on the air "Yes! Yes!"
"Well done, Harry!" said Percy, looking delighted. "Ten Galleons to me! Must find Penelope, excuse me -"
"Good for you, Harry!" Shouted Seamus Finnigan.
Ruddy brilliant!" boomed Hagrid. And Professor Lupin was standing next to Harry, whispered something. And what come next from Professor McGonagall caught everyone in surprise in surprised.
"An unworthy trick!" she was shouting. "A low and cowardly attempt to sabotage the Gryffindor Seeker! Detention for all of you, and fifty points from Slytherin! I shall be speaking to Professor Dumbledore about this, make no mistake! Ah, here he comes now!"
"Come on, Harry!" said George, fighting his way over. "Party! Gryffindor common room, now!"
"Right," said Harry. And they all back to the tower. Fred and Geogre brought them butterbeer, pumpkin fizz, and several bags full of Honeydukes sweets, pulling Dipper along with them, the brunette fully satisfied since they got chocolate for him. Draco grabbed 2 bottles, a started to drink one, and sat down in the corner, next to Hermione, and handing the other to the girl.
"How did you do that?" squealed Angelina Johnson.
And again, the twins whispered something into Harry's ear. But soon enough, Harry broke away from the twins, making his way to Hermione.
"Did you even come to the match?" he asked her.
"Of course I did," said Hermione in a high-pitch tone, not looking up "And I'm very glad we won, and I think you did really well, but I need to read this by Monday."
"Typical Hermione." mouthed Draco to Harry. But of course Hermione did heard it, so she closed the book, and slightly hit him with it. Draco mouthed "Ow." And Harry grinned at his two friends.
"Come on, Hermione, come and have some food," Harry said, looked over to Ron.
"I can't, Harry. I've still got four hundred and twenty-two pages to read!" said Hermione, Draco was stunned, "Anyway..., he doesn't want me to join in."
And far from where they were, was Ron said loudly "If Scabbers hadn't just been eaten, he could have had some of those Fudge Flies. He used to really like them -"
Hermione bursted into tear, and ran toward the staircase. So Draco stood up, making his way to Ron with Harry along side, pulled his robes jammed with Ron to the corner.
"Can't you give her a break?" Harry asked Ron quietly.
"No," said Ron flatly. "If she just acted like she was sorry - but she'll never admit she's wrong, Hermione. She's still acting like Scabbers has gone on vacation or something."
"But it wasn't her fault," said Dipper, walking over to them with his own glass of butterbeer, "so you better get your thick head through before you make somebody feel bad about themselves."
The party ended that night, with Professor McGonagall as a solution, but Dipper was already gone after the little talk with Ron.

Moon and Stars- chapter 5
All Gryffindors were thrilled when the portrait was fixed, but not so much when Sir Cadogan and his fat horse took over.
Dipper didn't mind the riddle like passwords once or twice a day, gave him something to look forward to. Fred and George on the other hand... they hated it.
"He's a lunatic!" They exclaimed together.
Dipper sent them a pointed look. "Be nice," He scolded, "he was the only one who was brave enough to take the position." He yawned. "Be grateful."
Fred rolled his blue eyes while George pouted. "I just want to get into the common room before a quidditch match." He whined.
Dipper sighed. "I understand, but soon it'll all be back to normal."
The weather had unfortunately worsened steadily as the first match came near. They had all been training hard and on their final training session before the saturday's match, Oliver gave his team some news.
"We're not playing Slytherin!" he said. "Flint's just been to see me. We're playing Hufflepuff instead."
"Why?" chorused the rest of the team.
"Flint's excuse is that their Seeker's arm's still injured," said Wood, "But it's obvious why they're doing it. Don't want to play in this weather. Think it'll damage their chances..."
Strong wind and thunder rumble the sky.
"There's nothing wrong with their seeker's arm!" said Harry furiously. "He's faking it!"
"I know that, but we can't prove it," said Wood bitterly, "And we've been practicing all those moves assuming we're playing Slytherin, and instead it's Hufflepuff, and their style's quite different. They've got a new Captain and Seeker, Cedric Diggory -"
The girls gigled.
"He's that tall, good-looking one, isn't he?" said Angelina.
"Strong and silent," said Katie, and they started to giggle again.
"He's only silent because he's too thick to string two words together," said Fred impatiently. "I don't know why you're worried, Oliver, Hufflepuff is a pushover. Last time we played them, Harry caught the Snitch in about five minutes, remember?"
"We were playing in completely different conditions!" Wood shouted, "Diggory's put a very strong side together! He's an excellent Seeker! I was afraid you'd take it like this! We mustn't relax! We must keep our focus! Slytherin is trying to wrong-foot us! We must win!"
"Oliver, calm down!" George exclaimed, "We're taking Hufflepuff very seriously. Seriously."
And the days for the first Quidditch has finally come, but the weather according to everyone else, was the worst. The twins and Dipper sat in the Great Hall, all eating breakfast, the noise of the strom getting louder and louder. Then the rest of the team turned up.
Hermione, Ron, and Draco all walked in and Dipper ended up sliding to sit by them while the quidditch team chatted.
"It's going to be a tough one," said Wood, who wasn't eating anything.
"Stop worrying, Oliver," said a player, Alicia, soothingly, "we don't mind a bit of rain."
"Yeah well, I'm more worried about the lightning." said George.
But it seem the storm didn't stop the whole school from watching the match. And just before they entered the locker room they all saw the two Slytherins, Carbbe and Goyle, laughing and pointing at Harry from under their umbrella.
They all changed into their scarlet robes, and they waited for a speech from Wood, but it didn't come. Althought he tried a few times, made an odd gulping noise, then shook his head hopelessly, and beckoned them to follow him.
The wind was so strong, making them staggered on their way to the field. And thunder roared above their heads, making some look up, worried. The Hufflepuffs approached him from the other side of the field, in their yellow robes. The two team captain walked up, shaked hand. Madam Hooch spoke."Mount Your brooms."
Once they were all set, Madam Hooch blew her whistle, and they all rose fast, up in the sky.
Only in a few minutes, both teams were already soaked with water. Fred and George managed to knock the bulgers away a few times, and before they knew it, Wood signal the whole team to get down the ground.
"I called for time-out!" Wood roared at his team. "Come on, under here -"
Harry took off his glass, wiped them.
"What's the score?"
"We're fifty points up," said Wood, "but unless we get the Snitch soon, we'll be playing into the night."
"I've got no chance with these on," Harry said desperately.
But that very moment, Hermione appeared at Harry's shoulder, holding her cloak.
"I've had an idea, Harry! Give me your glasses, quick!"
Harry handed it to Hermione, and she tapped it with her wand and said "Impervius!"
"There!" she said, handling it back to Harry "They'll repel water!"
"Brilliant!" Wood called, "Okay, team, let's go for it!"
And for the look, it seem Hermione's spell work perfectly. Dipper, Draco, Hermione, and Ron watched as Katie recieved the Quaffle from Angelina, Katie looping around, causing two Hufflepuff chasers crashed into each other, and before she was blocked, she made a shot, and scored.
"10 POITNS FOR GRYFFINDOR!" shouted the commentator.
And the match continued.
"Harry!" Fred looked back to see Wood shouting "Harry, behind you!"
Cedric was gaining his speed, and Harry threw himself down, right after Cedric to get the Snitch. But there was this silence fill the whole field.
Dementors
And Harry was falling throught the icy mist. He was no near stopping, or even slowing down. But Professor Dumbledor has stop Harry from hitting the ground.
~
"Lucky the ground was so soft." said George.
"No, lucky Professor Dumbledore was fast enough." Dipper commented.
"I thought he was dead for sure." said Fred.
"But he didn't even break his glasses." George pointed out.
Harry slowly open his eyes.
"That was the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life." said Hermione.
"Harry!" Exclaimed Fred "How're you feeling?"
"What happened?" said Harry, sitting up.
"You fell off," said George. "Must've been - what - fifty feet?"
"We thought you'd died," said Alicia, who was shaking.
"But the match," said Harry. "What happened? Are we doing a replay?"
No one said a thing.
"We didn't - lose?"
"Diggory got the Snitch after you fell. He didn't realize what had happened. When he looked back and saw you on the ground, he tried to call it off. Wanted a rematch. But they won fair and square...even Wood admits it." Angelina told him.
"Where is Wood?" said Harry.
"Still in the showers," said Fred. "We think he's trying to drown himself."
"C'mon, Harry, you've never missed the Snitch before."
"There had to be one time you didn't get it," said George.
"It's not over yet," said Fred. "We lost by a hundred points."
"Right? So if Hufflepuff loses to Ravenclaw and we beat Ravenclaw and Slytherin..."
"Hufflepuff'll have to lose by at least two hundred points," George told him.
"But if they beat Ravenclaw..."
"No way, Ravenclaw is too good. But if Slytherin loses against Hufflepuff..." Fred said.
"It all depends on the points - a margin of a hundred either way -"
"The point is," Dipper cut in, "the chance for you guys to win is still there, just slim."
Harry just lay there, not saying a word. And after a long ten minutes, Madam Pomfrey come to tell the team to leave.
"We'll come and see you later," Fred told him. "Don't beat yourself up. Harry, you're still the best Seeker we've ever had."
The team and Dipper left, all but Draco, Hermione and Ron stayed behind with Harry. They moved nearer to Harry's bed.
"Dumbledore was really angry," Hermione said,"I've never seen him like that before. He ran onto the field as you fell, waved his wand, and you sort of slowed down before you hit the ground. Then he whirled his wand at the Dementors. Shot silver stuff at them. They left the stadium right away...He was furious they'd come onto the grounds. We heard him -"
"Then he magicked you onto a stretcher," said Ron. "And walked up to school with you floating on it. Everyone thought you were..."
"Dead." mumbled Draco. But it seem no one notice what he just said. Harry looked at the three.
"Did someone get my Nimbus?" Harry said.
The three looked each other.
"Er -"
"What?" said Harry, looked worry.
"Well...when you fell off, it got blown away," said Hermione hesitantly.
"And?"
"And it hit - it hit - oh, Harry - it hit the Whomping Willow."
"And?" said Harry, but it seem he already knows what happened.
"Well, you know the Whomping Willow," said Ron. "It - it doesn't like being hit."
"Professor Flitwick brought it back just before you came around," said Hermione.
"It broke into pieces made," said Draco, "sorry mate."
And Hermione reached down her feet for a bag, turned it upside down, and tipped dozens of splintered wood and twig down onto the bed.
