i am so sorry to the two kind people who read my first go at the paperhat fanfic, which im still writing, but i have realized that i am a complete perfectionist and that 1: i write drafts better on paper 2: i write better at nighttime and 3: it takes a long time to write a preferred 2,000 word chapter on paper at night, edit, revise, wait a bit to look over, edit again, and then convert to text for ao3. this is still something i am totally happy to be writing, it's just going to take a bit longer. apologies.

Said in my review of the movie, but easily one of my favorite aspects of Across The Spider-Verse was the Spot. Like, maybe I’m biased because he’s one of my favorite underrated Spider-Villains but he was SUCH a great choice for the bad guy in this movie and they wrote him so well, perfectly capturing his story in the comics.

They really bait you out into thinking that he’s this cute, adorable, dorky, and harmless joke character, the sort of dumb “villain of the week” that Spider-Man swats on his way to real problems and never does anything especially evil, but then they start peeling the layers back and you slowly realize that, no, this goofball dude is actually a completely ruthless, bloodthirsty, vindictive, and depraved murderer who will do ANYTHING in the name of getting even with the people who piss him off in anyway whatsoever and his powers are only superficially goofy at best, being nightmarishly powerful when applied properly. And all you’re doing by laughing at him or beating him up is encouraging him to get even stronger so he can come back and kill everyone you love as a personal “fuck you” because he doesn’t care how many dead bodies it takes to make people take him seriously.

He starts the movie as a generic low-level RPG enemy and ends it as a nigh-unkillable superboss stacked down with game-breaking stats. It’s incredible.

a prediction for beyond the spiderverse!! ( i am so sorry if this turns out to be right and i ruin the surprise for you i kinda hope this is wrong so that doesn't happen ) you know that the spot is mad at miles for being the cause of his disfigurement and troubles, right? and that miles gained this power of absorbing power and repelling it entirely from right field, riiiight? well uh, what if during the miles / spot fight, miles apologizes ( or says something like "i may have created you, but i can beat you too" or sum ) for ruining the spot's life and fixes it by absorbing the spot's dark matter??? and then since he repells power, what if Jonathan ( i think that's his name sorry if it's not ) aka the spot is now repelled into the spotted dimension without a way to get out because miles absorbed all his power?????

can anyone else just like, exit out of their dreams? like ill be having a nightmare and say "nope, im not doing this" so ill pretend my dream is a roblox game and it actually works 9/10 times. not joking.
