I wanna say this cause it’s been annoying me but systems are allowed to have fun. We’re allowed to make jokes about our disorder and have likes and dislikes and interests and hobbies. We aren’t entirely our disorder despite it playing a huge role in our life. If you guys have no issue with other disordered people making jokes about their mental illness, why is it bad when it comes to us? Why am I suddenly faking it if I make one joke about my disorder? I live day to day like this and, yes, it can be fucking debilitating and exhausting and painful and scary and confusing but it can also be fun and helpful and happy and relieving. Yes, having DID sucks, but if I’m gonna live like this for the rest of my life, I may as well try and make it bearable. It’s so incredibly ableist to think that I must be miserable 24/7 otherwise I’m faking DID. It’s like singlets WANT us to have terrible lives. Systems are allowed to make jokes. Systems are allowed to have hobbies. Systems are allowed to have interests. Systems are allowed to have likes. Systems are allowed to have dislikes. Systems are allowed to have fun. Stop reducing us to our disorder.
