Im Having Thoughts About Humans, Vulcans, And The Concept Of Love, Apparently.
im having Thoughts about humans, vulcans, and the concept of love, apparently.
humans developed the feeling of love as a survival mechanism. we are a social species, so it is evolutionarily advantageous to care about each other, because then we take better care of each other. but the Feeling of love is not necessary to perform acts of care. it can be motivated by other things
the feeling is just a motivating force. love is more than just that. love is essentially: i want you to continue living, i want you to be healthy and happy and successful.
what does that sound like? live long and prosper
vulcans have a philosophy similar to love in humans. they just use a different vocabulary and dont rely on feelings as a motivating force but the principle is the same: "i take care of you because i want you to prosper, because that benefits the survival of the group"
so while vulcans may or may not feel the emotion of love (debatable, but either way they act as if they dont), they still perform acts of love as humans define it
but humans dont consider that a valid form of love because you're supposed to Feel it. its the exact same sentiment that causes aphobia, and ableism towards certain personality disorders. "you're not human because you dont perform love the way i expect you to."

DS9 Episode where senior staff is supposed to be playing the board game Clue, but Quark is determined to make a better version. He teamed up with Garak to make it the best holosuite game, but Rom’s engineering accidentally launches everyone into a game of in person Clue, with one of them programmed to have the role of the killer, and holosuite safeties turned off. They have to play, and meanwhile O’Brien works on the outside to stop it before the police arrest whoever is the killer and possibly doing more. It’s the perfect combination of Our Man Bashir and Move Along Home
yet another galaxy brain concept, idk how you keep doing it. also have you considered: clue-the-movie ft the ds9 senior staff and also garak is there. because a) garak would LOVE a whodunnit where everyone done it, b) that adds a potential twist to the standard holosuite glitch concept, c) why would you have a tim curry role and not give it to garak

I hate when females listen to radiohead. Theyll never understand what its like to be a true social reject. A creep. A weirdo. Theyll never understand what its like to be italian.
Every sfx makeup artist who ever worked on star trek is a monster fucker, and they are out here Proselytizing
The scene in The Wire where Garak asks for forgiveness and Julian holds his hand. There was a Bajoran nurse watching them. Imagine your superior forgiving your former oppressor for the crimes that he was not subjected to. Wild.
