So, I like papa knoth. He's not the best of characters but I like him. There's an issue though. I'm writing a self insert fic and I'm unsure if writing him being somewhat loving and gentle is watering down his character.
He's a really bad guy, I know. We never see him being nice. Every time he was physically on screen he killed someone (suic1de joke). But then again, the game is from Blake's point of view. And papa knoth does not like Blake so he's obviously not going to be nice to him.
We don't really get much of how he treats people he likes. Anytime someone says something about his past its usually something bad he did. We don't know his love style since we only hear about his lust.
I do want to imagine he can be loving, kind and gentle sometimes or to specific people. There has to be some point in time were he's a nice guy and not a "nice" guy like in game. I don't want to purposely water him down. The only thing about him I water down is his transph0bia (since I'm a trans man and so is my insert). And I'd like it to stay that way.
I'd like to hear some other thoughts on this as well.

Gooseberry is my biggest comfort character right now. I desperately need a hug from her. I just know she would be a good hugger. I need to be cradling in her arms while futterman is covered with a blanket or something. I'd definitely be a futtermanic in the outlast universe. Don't put me in the trials bro, I'd die immediately trying to cling to her and shi. I hate this universe. I need to go to the trials. I need gooseberry to kill me. I want her to be the cause of my death. I won't die happy if she ain't.
I am captivated by the importance of uncovering the truth in this game. It is crucial for our generation, who did not live through these events, to understand the history behind them. I aspire not only to know the truth, but also to feel the terror that is inflicted on them.

This is a true story, and you must read this article and pay attention to the narrative and message that Red Barrels is striving to convey.
