you knew jake ever since high school started, when he moved in right next door. your parents invited them in with open arms, inviting them for dinner. that was the first time you ever met him.

it was clear he tried to talk to you, but you were too shy to even make eye contact. the moment dinner was over, you excused yourself to your room.

although, you had to speak to him eventually with your family always inviting him over. the first time you both spoke was when you went to kitchen for a glass of water during a movie night and he followed.

he smiled at you, finally introducing himself and apologizing if he scared you at first. you couldn't help but admire his features, did he always look that pretty?

"no i'm sorry i didn't speak...i was just scared." you quietly spoke, avoiding eye contact but you could feel his stare. "it's okay! maybe we can be friends now?"

you look up to finally see him, his eyes were sparkling, he was glowing.

this was the start of your growing feelings for him.

you both stuck together in high school. he tutored you, you tutored him, you both always hung out together.

jake was popular, meaning there was always girls wanting to be in a relationship with him. somehow it made you a tad bit insecure and jealous. knowing how those girls were beautiful and you really had no chance, making you drown out your feelings even more.

jake always kindly rejected the confessions, saying he doesn't feel the same and someone already has his heart. that sentence always tore your heart, you would look down at the floor, fidgeting with your hands. you never noticed when jake always said those words, he was looking at you.

your friends always tried to make you confess but you denied your feelings, saying you don't harbor any feelings for him. what if he rejected you? you didn't want to risk the friendship.

now, senior year just ended and summer began. the moment you and jake graduated, you noticed he began to become more touchy. as in holding your hand, hugging, or even cuddling. not that you didn't like it.

you both are now by your pool and jake was getting the floaties out from the outside closet. your parents was away from home for a little vacation, leaving you alone with jake.

"ouu, the unicorn! i forgot about this one [name]!" jake beams, showing you the unicorn inflatable. you giggled, grabbing it from jake and throwing it into the pool.

"hey! i wanted to jump in with the unicorn!" he said to you, crossing his arms. you didn't respond, looking at him smiling. he was beaming, he had a small tan, his hair fluffy. how can he be your best friend?

"is there something on my face?" jake asked, and it snapped you out of your thoughts. "oh no! i was just thinking about how we should order food." you utter, fidgeting with your hands. you quickly went to your phone, going to uber eats.

jake looked at you with admiration in his eyes. he wanted to confess so bad but he never had the right moment. he was always interrupted. you guys had very close calls, almost kissing or confessing but backed down.

you both spent the day with such fun, having a water ballon fights, water guns, swimming races, watching movies, just being with each other was enough for you both.

in the silence of the night with the faint playing of music, you both were still outside on the same unicorn floatie watching tiktoks. you were laying on his chest and he was holding your phone. the pool lights were on, and the moon was shining brightly tonight. jake couldn't focus on the tiktoks. he could only focus on you.

"[name]...?" he mumbles, and you hum back. "can i say something?"

you sit up, looking at him. your heart was thumping. jake sat up, his thumbs fidgeting with each other. "i waited 4 years to say this, and i feel like this is just so right. [name], i really like...no love you. ever since i moved in next door. i could never take my eyes off of you. you're always on my mind. when we aren't together, i miss you so much, no other girl could ever compare to you. please [name], let me be your boyfriend."

he looked up, making eye contact with you. you were shocked, after so long, he actually felt the same towards you as well? you smile at him sweetly. "of course. i thought it was always one-sided but i'm so happy you feel the same."

jake hugs you tightly, and you hug him just as tight. he breaks off the hug, just to admire you. putting his palm to your cheek, holding it. sooner or later, jake softly puts his head against yours. you both were just looking at each other. "can i kiss you?" he softly says, and you nod.

you both close your eyes when jake leans in fully to kiss you. his other arm going around your waist to hold you closer, scared as if you're going to disappear. the kiss leaves you both breathless and flustered. jake smiles letting go putting his fists up into the air. "[name] is finally my girlfriend!!!" jake shouts out loud, making you laugh.

"hey [name], guess what?" he looks at you, smiling cheekily. "yeah..."

suddenly, he pushes you into the cold water. "JAKE? what the fuck! the water is so cold!" you yell, while he laughs at you. "you're sooo getting pushed in." you declare at him and his laughing stops. "hey! hey! i have your phone! you can't!"

you swim, quickly grabbing your phone and placing it on the outdoor chairs nearby. you look back to see jake trying to paddle away but you swim under to flip the floatie, making him fall in.

"oh my god, it is cold!" jake cried out, and you giggled. he swam to you, hugging you and you wrapped your legs around his waist, hugging him back.

"we can always warm each other though." you feel jake smile against your neck and you couldn't have it any other way. you really love him.

"then we ran down the street in the late london light, the world froze around us, you kissed me goodnight."

his pale rosy skin, his arms currently wrapped around you while you both watch a scary movie. "[name]! pleasee, this thing is scary!" jungwon yelled out, once again hiding in your neck when a jumpscare came up.

even though your cheeks were practically red, you giggle at his antics. "jungwon, the movie isn't even that scary!" you snickered, then jungwon left your 'cozy neck' and stared at you with his cute cat eyes.

"jungwon..." "please...!" "fine!"

you reached towards the table and grabbed the remote. you turned off the tv and laid back to the couch. jungwon hugged you tighter, seeming scared. you smile and then you heard the front door unlock.

"hello? [name]! i'm home!" your mom beamed, closing the door behind her. your mom walked towards the living room. "oh hi jungwon! i didn't know you were coming over!" she smiled, also looking at you and winking at you due to the fact both you and jungwon were cuddling.

"i'll be in the kitchen making dinner." your mom grinned, walking off while taking off her coat to hang.

you and jungwon stayed cuddling, taking in each other's warmth.

"hey, jungwon?" "yeah?" "i'm going to be right back, im going to use the bathroom kay?"

"whyy?" "it's going to be quick i promise."

he unwrapped his arms from you then started sulking. you smiled at him and walk towards the bathroom. well, not before your mom grabbed you into the kitchen.

"oh my god, are you guys finally together?" your mom quiently squealed. "mom, no! i mean, i wish but we're not! he doesn't see me like that."

"oh please! do you see the way he looks at you! he's totally inlove." she beamed, making your cheeks go red. "mom! keep down please! now, im going to go to the bathroom..."

you sighed and turned around to walk run to the bathroom to collect your breath.

you closed the door behind you, immediately taking a deep breath in and out. you couldn't help but wonder if he really liked you.

i mean sure, you both had reallllly close calls of almost kissing but it never happened.

you stayed in the bathroom, collecting yourself for about 5 minutes before you finally decided to go out.

you walked out to the living room to see jungwon and your mom talking while eating dinner. "hey [name]! come eat with us pleasee!" jungwon grinned and you smiled back, taking a seat.

"we were just talking about halloween! jungwon wanted to tag along with us for buying decorations!" she rambled, and you quickly nodded.

"yes yes! tag along jungwon! it would make things 100x more fun!" "hey! are you saying im boring?" "no mom..."

"i'll tag along then!" he smiled, finishing up his plate. you smile at him and began eating.

it was 3:33 am when you heard tapping from somewhere. you groan, trying to block out the noise. but somehow the tapping out louder.

you 'ughed' and got out of your warm bed to try to find that tapping sound. only to find yourself near the window, and opening it. a rock almost got thrown at your head but luckily you dodged.

"what the fuck..." you mumbled, rubbing your eyes and looking down to see jungwon.

"jungwon?" you uttered, and he sweetly smiled. "i didn't hit you right?" "yeah..."

"oh thank god! okay okay, [name] can you let me in for a second?" "oh, okay..."

you closed your window and quietly headed downstairs. you opened the door and then saw jungwon there in all his glory.

you stared at him and he stared back. "[name]...are you going to let me in?"

you came back to realization, "oh yeah! sorry..."

he came inside, taking off his shoes and quickly guiding you back to your room. "wha...what happened?" you ask him when he shut your door. "let's sneak out."

"huh? to where?" "anywhere! let's get food and head to the park!" "oh, okay, let me get ready then."

after a while of choosing an outfit, and just ended up choosing some hello kitty pj pants and a shirt, you both headed out and now getting some food.

"let's go to mcdonalds! it's open!" you say, and jungwon smiles, driving over there.

a silent air takes over, and you look out the window.

you both reach the fast food place, quickly going in, very hungry, you both get food, getting ready for the park.

you both laugh off from your conversations, not noticing the heavy rain coming down, until you both walk into it.

"oh, it's raining..." he mumbles. "the food is going to be soggy!" "you know what they say, the food tastes better soggy!" "no one says that jungwon."

he laughs and he grabs your hand. he runs, dragging you with him. you guys stop under a streetlamp. he puts down the food and smiles at you.

"[name], i feel like this is the right time to do this. please don't be mad at me." "what do you mea-"

he's kissing you. his warm hands caressing your face. you close your eyes and kiss him back just as intimately.

he broke the kiss off first, and he just kept staring at you. like he was taking in everything. "[name], i really really like you. never mind, i don't think like is the right word. you smile at him and kiss him again. you feel him smile into the kiss and his hands hug your waist. you break off the kiss and smile at him. he hugged you, buring his head into your neck. "i'm really happy [name]." "me too."

you both stay like that, for a while before you spoke up again.

"so...are we going to let the food get even more soggier?"

hugging him back, it stays like this for a few minutes till you speak up again. "riki, i have to go use the bathroom..." you mumble, trying to get out of his grasp.

riki shook his head, making you sigh. "what if i gave you kisses and breakfast after?" you pointed out, making his ears perk up. "you know what, fine. only for the kisses and food though." you smile at him.

he smiles back at you, giving you a forehead kiss before you got up and walked to the bathroom in your room.

after a while, you went out of the bathroom to see riki sitting on your bed, patiently waiting for you. he sees you walk out, quickly smiling and going up to you to hug you tightly.

"hi." he whispered into your ear. "hey." you whispered back. "you owe me my kisses now." smiling, you gave him kisses all around his face and ended it the attack of kisses on his lips. "happy now?"

you both stared at each other but you look down to see jake shirtless for you to bring you back to reality. you began to turn red and sat up, bringing the covers up with you.

"are you okay?" jake asks, sitting up as well. "we...had sex. last night." you uttered out, jake's ears slightly turning red. "mhm. yeah we did." he responded, staring at you.

"jake, we shouldn't have done that. we're just friends." you hesitated, panic rising in you. "what do you mean?" he stammered, worry in his voice. you look at him, you swore you saw tears starting to form in his eyes.

it truly made your heart hurt. "this didn't mean anything to you, did it?" you questioned him, and he quickly responded. "of course it did, did it not mean anything to you?"

"yeah. it did, but i don't know. we're best friends, this puts us in a situation." you trailed off, and jake hugs you. "[name], please, i'll let you know now if last night wasn't enough, i love you so much, i had feelings for you ever since high school. and those feelings for you are never going to disappear."

you felt jake sniffle, and tears brim your eyes. you hug him back, both of you tightly hugging each other like one of you was going to disappear.

"jake, i love you, you don't understand." you confessed. jake breaks the hug to kiss you hard.

after a while, you break the kiss, and you hold his face in your hands. "should we go shower and then go eat some food?" you ask, making him smile. "how about i become your boyfriend first?"
