Im Not A Big Twilight Fan, But When I Was 9 I Remember My First Conflict Was Looking At My Friends Fighting
I’m not a big Twilight fan, but when I was 9 I remember my first conflict was looking at my friends fighting over Edward and Jacob VIOLENTLY and me on the side, kind of embarrassed, trying to find a way to tell them I liked Aro better. Aro turns to me and says “You have an useful paranormal gift, wanna join?” and he doesn’t even have to finish THE SENTENCE, I’VE PACKED MY BAGS. Italy here I go bitch. The Volturi have such nice aesthetic and like, how Evil are they really? If you read their “rules” it’s all like “Oh, don’t go near humans” “Oh, uh, maybe hunt low key” like all common sense shit that’s not even THAT bad, it just makes SENSE. Of course you could ARGUE that their family structure is all emotional manipulation, and the reason why they don’t leave is that they are compulsively attached to one another – and you’d be right, but also they have someone to make you feel as if you are happy with that ALL THE TIME and honestly? I’ll take it. Sign me up.

“This is the story of how I died.”
Bella swatted Jacob, hitting him square on the shoulder. He winced, and glanced down at Dawn and Sunflower, who both stared at him with wide eyes. Jacob shook his head, moving his hair from his face, and grinned.
“Don’t worry! It’s actually a very fun story, and, truth be told, it’s not really about me.” Jacob winked. “This story is about a girl named… Bella.”
Dawn and Sunflower both turned their wide brown eyes on Bella, who snorted and shook her head, though the smile on her face—half hidden by her hand—betrayed her enjoyment of her husband’s antics. The two girls giggled in near unison. Jacob ruffled Dawn’s hair, and cleared his throat.
“Once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens,”— he paused, ensuring both children were looking at him—“and with it, a piece of moon.”
“That’s not how the moon works!” interrupted Sunflower heatedly.
“Shh,” Bella said, pressing a finger to her lips, though she still had a half-smile. Her brown eyes glinted in the light, betraying sparks of gold. “Listen to your father’s story.”
“The sun hit the earth, and blossomed into a beautiful, golden flower.” Jacob’s eyes sparkled, too, gleaming with mischief. “A magical golden flower. And the moon hit the earth, only for it to be discovered by a crooked, evil man.”
“Carlisle!” interruoted Sunflower, eager as always to have known the answer. Dawn, irritated, making a face her mother often did, placed her whole hand on Sunflower’s freckled face. Sunflower’s face, mostly hidden by Dawn’s small hand, shifted, looking remarkably indignant for someone missing her front teeth. She opened her mouth to speak once more—
“The evil man used the piece of moon—” Jacob produced a shiny, white rock from within his jacket—“for his own purposes. But the golden flower, at least, was left alone. For the time being.” He smiled at his daughters mischievously, and cupped his hands together. When he opened them, the rock was gone. “A kingdom prospered, unaware of the flower nearby. Until one day, the pregnant queen of the kingdom fell sick. Very sick.”
Dawn gasped, putting a hand to her mouth.
“The king scoured the kingdom, searching far and wide for something, anything that could help the queen. A doctor offered his services, and with him came his son…” Jacob paused for dramatic effect, and then said, in a harsh undertone, “Edward Cullen.”
Sunflower stuck her tongue out. Bella shook her head disapprovingly, sighed, but said nothing. Jacob chuckled.
“Edward Cullen had found the flower, and gave it to the queen, on one condition; on her eighteenth birthday, the unborn child was to be his, and his alone, through the most unbreakable bond of marriage.” Jacob’s lips twitched. Clearly, he though the prospect was ridiculous. “Until that day, she would not love another—man nor woman.” Jacob rolled his eyes upwards. “As though this was something to be prevented.”
“Booooo,” said Dawn.
“Boo,” agreed Bella.
Jacob rolled his eyes. “In due time, the child was born, with beautiful, golden hair. The kingdom adored her, and her parents as well.” He glanced about the room, like he was sharing a secret, and said, “but Edward had other plans.”
Dawn gasped aloud, and Sunflower cried, “No!”
“Oh, yes.” Jacob produced the rock again, along with a single, small, dried petal. He held them both up. “Edward snuck into the nursery, stole the baby, and in an instant—” he made a swift motion with his hands, and both the rock and petal disappeared—“was gone.”
Bella shook her head wearily, coming and sitting beside her children. Sunflower shifted back so she sat in Bella’s lap, and Dawn leaned on her.
“Since that day, every year on her birthday, the king and queen sent out lanterns, sending them into the sky. To remind their people what they had lost—and to guide their darling princess home.”
Dawn’s lower lip trembled.
“Far, far away, in a high tower, a little girl grew old, with only her long hair—for Edward dared not cut it—and a song to keep her company.” Jacob looked meaningfully at Bella.
“Flower, gleam, and glow…”
