"There's a carving in our gate," said Dacey. "A woman in a bearskin, with a child in one arm suckling at her breast. In her other hand she holds a battleaxe. She's no proper lady, that one, but I always loved her."

I've Been Thinking... Maybe Dark Magic Stems Straight From Star Magic?
I've been thinking... Maybe dark magic stems straight from star magic?
For a second there I even thought the "big reveal" would be that dark magic might just be star magic pure and simple, but that doesn't click.
Then season five came and I've got a little theory: dark magic is corrupted star magic, it's star magic backwards. This could make sense because while dark magic drains power from life, by way of killing/exploiting body parts from animals and magic creatures, I propose star magic creates life. Case in point: Sir Sparklepuff, aka viraavos' baby.
What Viren did there with Aaravos' help was using his own blood (therefore his own power/life force) and some incantation to bring life into the world. If that was indeed star magic (I'm inclined to think so) then star magic created a magical creature with its own unique existence.
What do y'all think?
I don't know what that would mean for the story but... the wheels are turning in my head.

Regarding quasar diamonds: what are the odds that little crystal Stella pilfed from Umber Tor is one? I'd say they're really small, but then again... I've rewatched that scene several times and the crystal is definitely none of the ones N'than described, and it's got a distinct purple tinge.
so like if quasar diamonds can undo the coin spell. and the relic staff can do the coin spell’s entrapment. then… the purple gem in the relic staff is an outright or corrupted quasar diamond, right?

Excuse me while I scream about TDP constantly asking what makes a person and who deserves life and what does family mean and everything about S5 hitting like a continuous sack of bricks, bringing back my fave quote to celebrate
Watched up to episode four. Callum didn't have to draw a mini Rayla. But he did. And I adore it.
Yesss I totally agreee! It was awesome, it was fun. Also the voice actors did a brilliant job in that scene. Beautiful!!
You know Callum and Rayla complaining to each other about how Janai won’t let them go to Lux Aurea might literally be one of my favourite scenes in the season. The way Callum says “They treat us like children!” Callum my lad you have literally never sounded more like a whiny teenager in this whole show and I love that for you. Janai is trying to save you and you’re being oh mean aunt Janai won’t let me go to the zombie infested library. Bad aunt. And I loved that. Like yes give me Callum and Rayla being dumb teenagers rebelling against authority that just has their best interests at heart. Give me Callum and Rayla going “How dare Janai try and protect us! She doesn’t understand! We’re going anyway!” I love the fact that yes, Callum and Rayla are heroes willing to risk danger to save the world, but they’re also cranky teenagers and I love the moments where that comes through
