You stood there blinking. You heard Klaus correctly, didn't you? He was in love with you, of all people he liked you...
"Uh... I..." You struggled to find the right words, "Please don't take this the wrong way, but... I don't know if I feel the same about you."
You somehow managed to look up at Klaus, worried he would be upset at you. It wasn't like he asked a week after, he had waited five months to say anything. But his face was unreadable. Should you...talk more?
You cleared your throat, "Um, what I mean is that I don't want to rush into this without knowing how I feel. I just got use to being around you as a friend. I don't want to risk jeopardizing that because I didn't actually feel the same way. You know?"
Klaus focused on your eyes. That sound of uneasy and doubtfulness. Yet what he was hearing was exactly how he felt these past months. And Klaus couldn't blame you for wanting to take your time figuring this out.
"Of course [Name]." He pressed a respectful kiss to your knuckles, "I understand where you're coming from. I don't mind waiting to for you to figure it out for yourself. I sincerely want you to take all the time you may need for this."
You felt terrible for rejecting Klaus like that. Even if it wasn't a real rejection. But you hadn't been thinking about that at all. You honestly believed Klaus could do better. That he'd be happier with someone else.
Regardless of how similar you two were.
And you stewed over that, making sure that what you wanted was Klaus's happiness over your own. Considering the confession on it's own had blind-sided you with an unexpected rush of joy and longing.
It didn't even register how long you were making Klaus wait. Not that you thought he'd wait around forever. But before you knew it, it was December. And you barely had an answer.
What was he going to think? Had he already given up on you? He definitely deserved better than you.

For once, Zapp's head wasn't pounding when he woke up. Just a series of fading images that seemed a little too dark to even remember. But there was a weight on his shoulder.
And when he looked over, a small smile curled his lips. You laying half across his chest, both splayed over the covers. That's why he didn't wake up with a headache. You were somehow very good at reigning in his worst habits.
Zapp let his head fall back against the pillows, this was nice. He could get use to this. Though, he couldn't stop his stomach growling. Nor could he help that it woke you.
But damn were you cute as f-ck with your hair all messed up like that. Plus that sleepy eyed half awake expression.
Oh no, Zapp could tell he was getting soft. He was getting attached to you. It wasn't the first time he felt like this around you, not by a long shot. But how he was thinking clashed so damn heavily with his usual personality that it was wonder he hadn't driven you off by now.
That didn't stop Zapp from staring at your -ss while you got dressed. He would still be Zapp and check you out constantly. It was just... well, he couldn't figure out why you stuck around after the freak outs over him getting too close. Knowing you were somehow more his than anyone else's, made him just a little weird.
Until you threw a shirt at him, "You gonna stare or do you wanna go get some breakfast?"
"Who says I can't do both?"
"The bear in your stomach for one."
Zapp threw a pillow at you, "Oh, suddenly you're an expert huh? Maybe my stomach was growling cause you look like a snacc."
"Uh huh." You rolled your eyes and threw the pillow back, nailing Zapp in the chest, "Cannibal."
Zapp was up on his feet in a flash, arms tightly around you and playfully biting at your neck. He loved the sound of your laughing, which was why he kept nipping at you.
"Alright alright!" You were pushing away from Zapp, "Seriously, if we don't go now then it'll be burgers for breakfast."
"You say that like it's a bad thing."
You stuck your tongue out at Zapp, but that just resulted in him pouncing again. Pinning you to the bed playfully and kissing you. Heck it was like dating an over excitable puppy. You couldn't fight him much though, his stomach was doing that for you.
Klaus + 18 🥹
18. A kiss on the throat.
You weren't entirely sure how you ended up in a dark closet with Klaus. Well, you knew what lead up to this moment, but that didn't make it any less baffling. A wild drunk party with Zapp suggesting seven minutes of heaven and a drunk K.K. pushing you two into the closet was absolutely to blame here. Though it wasn't like you were uncomfortable with the situation, except the cramped feeling being so close to Klaus.
You knew Klaus had a few to drink too, but didn't think much of it. Until he leaned down.
At first you thought maybe a quick kiss of the cheek, but NOPE!
Klaus had other intentions in his drunk mind. A very bold, very un-Klaus like kiss pressed against your throat that made you weak in the knee. Having to hold onto his broad shoulders just to make sure you didn't fall against the wall.

Klaus had waited long enough to find where you were. After you went off grid, Klaus spent endless hours searching for any kind of a lead for you. It wasn't like you to do so, which tipped Klaus off that something was wrong. And sadly, it took him 10 months to gather enough information to find you. And Klaus was beside himself, ready to see you and get you home safely.
While knowing you were in the bowels of a blood breed's lair did nothing for Klaus's mental state, he knew you'd be strong enough to not succumb to the curse. It wasn't ideal, but he could help you deal with the curse. He would do anything to convince you to come back home.
Perhaps he was a bit too reckless, marching straight through the castle-like structure. But his weapon was drawn, he had his fighting glove at the ready. Anything that jumped out at him was in for a rude awakening of being decked into next week.
Until he realized his punch sent you flying backwards. The surprise of what looked like a blood breed coming at him clouded his ability to recognize you. But then again, you rose from the floor with a sick, twisting grin. Klaus's heart sank as you lunged forward again. Your voice contorted in a growl begging for his blood.
He had gotten here too late, you were already a blood breed. Bitten 13 times and whipped into a frenzy from lack of victims around you. Klaus felt his soul cracking from having to defend himself from you.
"[Name]! Its me! Its Klaus!" His desperation was falling on deaf ears sadly, "Please! Calm down! We can figure this out together! You aren't like this!"
The longer Klaus fought with you, the worse he felt. The growing realization that you couldn't be reasoned with. That you were gone, replaced by this monstrous creature trying to drink his blood. Klaus knew what he had to do, but he couldn't bring himself to seal you away. But Klaus didn't have a choice.
"Ewigkeit Gefängnis!"
Klaus hit his knees, catching the cross that contained your soul. The fading echo of your scream still ringing in his ears. He knew sealing a blood breed hurt the creature, and thinking that the last thing he had done was hurt you.
It killed Klaus.
"Well, well, well. Seems not every fanghunter is very strong then." Klaus's head snapped up, tears still thick under his glasses, "That one was absolutely weak for example. Turning them was so easy and yet. Hm, I can't help but feel they should have put up more of a fight."
Klaus felt like his body was on auto pilot. Another blood breed. This one insulting him, insulting his beloved. How dare this thing call you weak!
Klaus didn't register the movement of his body. He didn't feel the pains of being thrown around. He didn't notice when he dropped your cross by the door. All he saw, all he knew, was red...rip this blood breed limb from limb. Make it suffer for what it did to you. Make sure it couldn't do anything like that again.
Steven and Leo entering the room, drawn by the dull roaring of anguish and heavy slams stopped in the door. Klaus looked monstrous himself. Relentlessly attacking the blood breed, no matter how much blood spilled from his veins.
When Steven looked down, he noticed a cross. His eyes widened, putting the pieces together so quickly he couldn't even blame Klaus for his rage. While Steven knew talking sense into Klaus was pointless, they couldn't let him continue this blood soaked rage.
And Leo, not bothering to look for the whole story before getting the job done, had calmed Klaus in an instant. Sending him the name of the blood breed over text.
Klaus wasted no time sealing the creature away. Giving it the exact same fate it had sent his lover to. And standing extremely still afterwards. Shaking with rage, pent up frustrations that slowly dissolved into immense grief. He lost you. No victory so close to that event would ever feel like a true victory.
Steven was slow to approach his red-haired friend. Even in offering him the cross that held you trapped inside. Steven couldn't keep himself from fearing the man that had gone from feral beast to deadly calm in a matter of seconds. Though that was short lived as Klaus hit his knees again. Clutching your cross and sobbing uncontrollably.
When he finally was home, Klaus just laid there. Wishing this had played out some other way. If he had been faster, if he had done more. Would you still?
He turned to your empty pillow, laying your cross on the soft surface. Tears leaking out of his eyes as he fell asleep due to just how tired he was.
Klaus was standing in a large open field. A lone tree over a bridge and a figure sitting in its shade. There was nothing else he could do except approach.
"Uh, excuse me?" Klaus reached out to get the other's attention, each step slow and tentative, "Hello? Where are we?"
Klaus stopped, when the figure rose. He couldn't stop himself from sprinting full speed, fumbling his attempt to hug you. His knees buried in the dirt as he clung to your waist like a child. You patted his back slowly.
"I... I'm so sorry [Name]. I... I should have..."
"Shh, you did everything you could Klaus." His tear stained face looked up at you, taking in every tiny detail, "I can rest. I'm no longer a monster. I can go on because of you."
Klaus leaned into your hand as you brushed away his bangs. Trying to hold your hand against his face. Knowing this was just a dream, but wanting so badly for it to be real. Wishing he could bring you back with him. If only...

Zapp really wished his friend would straight up leave Raju. This was ridiculous. That stupid dish rag wouldn't actually care much one way or the other. Nor would he stick around much. This was way too far.
But they wouldn't listen to reason. Whatever Raju has been telling them, it stuck. So maybe opening their eyes when he wasn't around would help.
You opened the door and saw Zapp standing there. Weird, he usually texted first. Oh well. You could use a break from playing your games anyways. Though once in the door, Zapp looked around. Making sure Raju wasn't around.
"What? Paranoid that Raju will pop out?" You smirked, "Chill dude. He's off for work."
"Yeah, about that." Zapp looked at you, "You even know what he does? What he did for my training?"
"No, why?"
Zapp rolled his eyes, of course he wouldn't tell you anything, "Well, its about time someone did."
"Or not." You turned back to the living room, Zapp following you, "I trust Raju's judgement that it would be too dangerous for me to know. Especially in this city."
Zapp frowned. Stupid sadistic c-m rag really has covered his tracks, and made a good argument. But just as Zapp was a about to actually lay into the "truth", he caught sight of some really weird knick knacks across shelves.
Old skulls and colorful rocks lined up around other weird trinkets. Various tiny statues and gemstones, especially around the windows. Zapp reached for one, turning it over in his hand.
"Where'd ya get these?"
"Raju brings them when he travels." You shifted a couple feathers in resin to show off the plumage, "He's always bringing a little box full of trinkets. Usually rocks, geodes, and animal bones. Though sometimes he'll bring back some kind of jewelry or gemstones."
"Uh huh." Zapp looked around the room, realizing just how much was here, "And he just does this? You didn't ask him to?"
"Nope. He started doing it after we were together for a month or so. It's kinda like how cats and birds bring things when you actually think about it."
Zapp was quiet. This was nothing that lined up with how he knew Raju to act. If it didn't have a purpose then it was useless. But here he seemed to be going out of his way to bring you interesting and shiny objects. But why?
"Has he ever...ya know?" Zapp waved his hand in a circle, "Used this stuff against you or anything?"
You frowned, "No. Raju has never tried leveraging sex out of me. Just because you do that doesn't mean anyone else does."
"Hey!" Zapp's temper flared for a second before logic took over, "You don't have to call me out on it. I just wanted to check. He's never really been the kind to gift things. Or do something without a reason. A purpose."
"Well, he has said is because he thinks about me when he travels." You turned to a large headdress of feathers on the wall, gently brushing some lint off it, "And people tend to have vague, non-physical reasons behind giving things to each other. So its probably just that."
"Damn, he really does care about you huh?"
You turned to Zapp, an annoyed expression across your face. He put both hands up in surrender, before noticing the open window.
"Clearly not much with the window open like that though."
"Hm? Oh, that." You stopped Zapp from going near the window, "Raju doesn't like the idea of carrying keys, afraid he'll lose it or someone getting to me that way. So he comes and goes through the window."
Zapp got a solid backhand for snickering.
"Not like that ding-nut." You sighed, "He put these weird, ethereal ribbon things around all the windows and door. Said it'll keep harmful, unwanted guests out. And seriously, its weird."
"How's that?"
"This window is open all the time, but no bugs or even rain ever comes in. Raju seems to be the only one able to go through it. But he did say if I ever tried I could. But uh..."
"No way you'll be able to get all the way up here to test it."
"Bingo."
Zapp huffed a little. Maybe his friend was in better shape than he thought. After all, if Raju was taking all these precautions, to the point of sealing an apartment's windows and door with heavy arcana, then he couldn't be that bad for his friend. He'll keep his nose down, for now.

Raju had been a little worried, staying at home while you went to the doctor's office. You had been getting rather sick lately and neither of you had an excuse for it. Raju considered the idea that he somehow brought an illness upon you from his travels.
But no, he showered before trying to do anything with you every time just to be safe.
Raju did not like the stunned look on your face. As he landed just in front of you, waving a hand.
"[Name]? What did the doctor say?"
You couldn't bring yourself to speak. You didn't think this could happen. Sure you knew couples that were human and Beyondian that had kids. But you weren't aware Raju could...
Raju was deeply worried, trying to guide you to the couch. Maybe sitting down would help?
"I'm pregnant."
Raju nearly dropped to the floor. You barely spoke above a whisper, but he couldn't have misheard. You were pregnant... with a child... very likely his child.
But you panicked in the silence, "I... I know it's got t be yours. I haven't-! I couldn't! I didn't even think we-!"
"I know." Raju sounded lost, but it wasn't anything compared to how he felt, "I didn't think it would be possible. I've never exactly... procreated before. So to know I could do so with a huma."
You bit your bottom lip. What would this mean for you two? Would Raju even want to keep the child? Would they be healthy? How much like Raju would they look? Would you be able to see how Raju looks without his helm? Or would they be more like you?
Raju didn't like the quiet look on your face. The thoughts he could practically hear whirling around your mind. But he wasn't ready for this, not at all. The most "parenting" he's done was train two grown men in the ways of Big Dipper. A child would be beyond him. And how would he explain his missing body parts?
There was a lot of preparation to be done before any final decisions were made.
