You're absolutely right; New Moon honestly IS so much better than Old Moon. He clearly cares and he even told Sun EXACTLY what Lunar said: "you deserve to have your negative feelings heard". Also, even when he barely even knew Sun, he opened up to both him and Earth almost right away when he learned they were his family. Not to mention that in his first big non-lore episode he was working with Earth to try and make Sun laugh.

He's a great brother, but the issues are that he's got a million distractions and... well, on a different note I think he feels that he knows he can't force Sun to tell him about his problems. Sun would constantly deny these problems and if Moon just keeps coming to him just to talk about these issues it could drive a wedge between the two. Sun would become cripplingly anxious whenever Moon is around, and Moon would be endlessly confused and frustrated whenever Sun is around. I've been learning how complex this sort of thing is... quite recently, in fact.

I think Moon's waiting for Sun to come to him, and I've been getting the feeling from the subtext that New Moon has been subtly trying to tell Sun that he's open to hearing and helping his brother. There are just two problems; Sun is refusing to acknowledge his own emotions, and that's one of the first steps in healing. And the second problem is that they, especially Moon, have a million distractions going on that are affecting them, their mental states, and taking up all their time.

As for fans "not caring" about Sun... well, I always read the top comments on the Youtube videos and I honestly haven't seen a single hateful comment directed towards him; the worst I've seen is just neutral. In the "fangirl" video? It's "Miku" that gets the hate and rightfully so!

There probably are some negative comments in there, but they're buried under everything else. The amount of likes on those many comments showing concern for Sun are also telling.

And other videos of tSaMS? Usually least one comment showing concern about Sun almost every time he's being seen suffering, and replies that agree.

Where are you seeing these hateful comments? Discord? I don't know how Discord works, but I've heard it's, uh... not a great community.

I wonder if maybe Discord, the new "hip thing" (OH GOD I feel old for even SAYING that XD), is where the kid fans gather the most? Youtube comments in general may not be the best, either, but I've definitely seen most comments becoming more mature as people grew up.

Maybe some people dislike Sun because his problems can be a little... too relatable. It could be a thing like with Steven Universe Future; it hits home on an uncomfortable level that makes it hard to watch.

I can imagine kid fans seeing Sun as a character that's "getting in the way" of an enjoyable show, and they word it as criticism because most of them can't pick up on the nuances of the characters' behaviors.

I see so many signs that the show's plot is going in this direction.. and yet I feel like I'm in minority...

Most people tend to focus more on Eclipse and his issues... Yeah, he needs therapy.. but no one can force him to change. He have to want that even if no one would forgive him or no one would like him. It might be harder to want to change but.. it's important to remember that we should always change for ourselves, for our own mental health etc. Eclipse shouldn't take things for granted because this is where the issue lays...

Anyway.. I didn't want to talk about Eclipse. It irks me that people tend to babify Eclipse and vilify Sun at the same time. I guess someone has to be a villain?/s But it frustrates me that people saw that Eclipse is su*c*dal and didn't see that with Sun! They saw it only when it was explicitely pointed out!

I know people probably like Eclipse more than Sun. If not.. Sun's fans are probably hidden somewhere..?

Anyway.. that's not what I wanted to talk about either.

I wanted to point out some of the signs that show really is going with Sun will "off" himself plot:

despite the obvious fact that Sun truly believes that he made everything worse there are also things like:

Earth's comment about Sun's cat liking her so much - Sun may feel like even his cat doesn't love him;

Earth's comment about her anxiety and lower self-esteem due to feeling unsure if she's helpful enough etc. - Sun may feel the need to support her more and shove away his own problems which will result with him not wanting to open up to Earth to not burden her further;

Moon's obliviousness to Sun's struggles - Sun may feel like no one really cares about him;

Moon's quick dismiss of Sun's idea about what to do with Eclipse - Sun may feel like he's efforts are nothing which alongside with

Moon doing most of the tough, important things - reinforces Sun's feelings of being useless and stupid;

Moon obliviousness to the whole situation with that "fangirl" - Sun may feel like Moon doesn't care about him or that his struggles are completely invisible;

Existence of "fans" like that "fangirl" - Sun said "so you're this type of fan" - did he met more fans like her? I'm assuming that yes, he did. - Sun may feel like fans not only doesn't like him but they hate him and either they want him gone or like seeing him suffer which he knows from comments on YT and Discord;

Being left alone with computer often time because Earth is in her room and Moon is going to do most of things needed to help with Eclipse's and creator's situations - computer's attitude towards Sun may worsen his mental state.

All of those things are so little and so easy to go unnoticed but it doesn't mean that they don't hurt Sun. And it's even worse in Earth's and Moon's cases because Sun knows that they care! How much easier it would be if they didn't... How much easier it would be to let go... But they care! They care.. and yet.. they seem so oblivious to Sun's struggles and suffering. Which only fuels su*c*dal thoughts and feeling of unbearable pain..!

I really wish that Sun won't kill himself.. or even try to... But the signs are there.. and they're painfully obvious... And yet not many people seem to notice that.. or maybe they don't care... ; ;

People only seem to care about other characters. "Where is Lunar?" "Oh no, Moon will sacrifice himself again!" "Eclipse is su*c*dal..." "I want Bloodmoon back!" And also the fact some of the fans left or were saying that show is badly written when show started focusing more on Sun's issues.. doesn't help to shaken off the feeling that people don't like Sun that much...

I know that people can like whoever they want.. but the lack of understanding of Sun's issues is unnerving... I still see that people only focus on Sun's "anger issues" even if it's the least concerning issue of all! It's tiring.. it's just tiring...

I used a reference photo of some random theater play. And I will be honest that reference literally started it all because it was perfect for multiple characters. You can see similar poses and lighting as well lol

It's funny you can't see Razzle here because I was trying hard to hide from Bean that I included him ahahaha

Me struggling with bg... And all the characters too hahha. Have no idea why I chose such complicated designs together (well, some of them are complicated yeah)

Lined and ready... My friends were like "you aren't going to colour it, right?" Right.

I finished rendering bg first, surprisingly it took me only two hours and one layer haha. I see some mistakes already but was too eager to finally be done with it. Not gonna show bg separately because I don't want it to be used anywhere but here <3 Then I layed out all the colours(the fact that some details died with final render always kills me from inside slightly<//3) and shaded the characters. Each character took me from 20-40 minutes, depending on how complicated their design and lighting were. I was really determined to make every character look good in their own environment, like on close ups, but also to make the whole thing work as whole too.

Funny how ugly it looks without final effects too lmao. The final pic you have already saw. Thanks for attention<3

This might be denial speaking again, but despite all the bad things I pointed out the Computer has also had moments of kindness. Those moments are just more nuanced, if that's the right word.

As far as I've known (I started watching around September-ish), the Computer has done nothing violent nor have they ever shown an actual, genuine interest in causing anyone extreme pain.

When Sun called out Eclipse (PREACH IT, PAST SUN!), they took the situation seriously and, even after giving the twins a treasure trove of information, they sounded really and genuinely sorry for not having all the answers to their questions.

Something like having Moon work "under pressure" when Sun what about to get murdered by a psychotic Lunar is unacceptably selfish, but at the same I can kind of see their viewpoint. Their focus was on Moon; trying to see if he's still capable.

The Computer was kind of iffy with New Moon at first, though, weren't they? Now that I think about it, their, uh... "sense of humor" only started showing itself after Moon lost his memories. Maybe they were coping with the loss by doing that. I mean, if they were designed to behave like original Moon... that Moon didn't really understand how to show care for others or how to handle emotions, or even think selflessly! (Moon: "Why would you lie to me, Sun?" Sun: *mental breakdown intensifies*)

So... maybe the Computer just acts like a jerk partly due to their programming imitating the old Moon mixing in with their own feelings on losing him. Maybe they're taking their own emotions, that nobody ever asks them about, out on Sun because they blame him for the trouble caused by his mistakes.

They aren't innocent. The Computer still puts Sun down WHEN HE DOESN'T NEED THAT and can act pretty mean (like when they rub salt into a mentally ill person's wounds) and needs to be held accountable for that stuff. But still, they must have their own take on the situation and should be listened to.

Maybe this is a little like the situation where people (including me) started to believe Sun was going to turn evil and that notion was seemingly confirmed after Sun pushed Moon into the portal... and the very next episode we learn that the motive was legit just Sun being a brother without any real malicious intent!

Although, if something does happen featuring the Computer I can also easily see them turn because they're sick of how they get treated. I don't think he'd go to Eclipse, but we have plenty more antagonists.

So today's episode of The Sun and Moon Show...

The fact that the computer states that "Miku" has been stalking Sun and Moon every single day of the year... this is the one time that I hope the computer is joking and is just withholding the truth unlike before. Call it denial on my part, but the idea of that being true is legitimately horrifying -- especially because this happens in real life all the freaking time!

The Computer has been rude, but they seem to have become particularly mean to Sun and if they lied just to get under his figurative skin, right after what little self-esteem he had left was STOMPED ON, then they've crossed the line even further than before.

Sun has been picked on enough, for god's sake. Bless New Moon and Earth for being so loving and nurturing to him.

Part of me has been wondering why Computer has been acting like this, though. Is it really just the sarcasm mode thing? Are they sick of being looked down on by the boys? Sun and Moon have kind of treated them like a pseudo-servant piece of tech instead of another AI even before Computer started mouthing off.

Or is it something else? I don't want Computer to become a villain! I mean, if they aren't already doing something like playing a double agent for Eclipse! But at the same time... oftentimes I just get this weird vibe from them. I really hope that this is just a lack-of-communication issue between they and the brothers, or that I'm just imagining things.

(Plus Davis's voice for Computer is just so lovely to listen do and I don't want to lose that. XD)

As for "Miku" herself? Well, I hold a special hope for her.

That hope is this: if she dares to show her face again then she should be ready for her enormous serving of her just desserts.

She's been watching our boys? Then we will be watching for her.

Honestly it's just sad to see sun compare new moon to his old version

The old version was angry Hate-filled and severely depressed

We love the old version but we have quickly accepted the new version as well loving that he's still willing to be wholesome and loving to his brother Despite not knowing Anything beyond the videos and what son had told him

Sun Sadly is failing to see the new moon For who he truly is Sure they have similar qualities as the old moon but he's still different as well much more sweeter And Is more emotional I hope when they talk Sun does start accepting that the old moon is gone but he still has his brother who is much more happier and healthier

You're exactly right, at the same time though I can't fault Sun for this. For him it's so hard to let go of what happened. He has to remember what old Moon did and put him through, and he sees it a lot in the new Moon, whether he means to or not.

And I know that's not fair to new Moon who is actively trying to be better, and IS doing better. So hopefully Sun will soon talk to Moon about what happened in the past outside of the videos and Moon can gain a better understanding.

This could all easily be solved with communication, even if certain topics are difficult to talk about.
