okay so i was thinking about jj maybank's cabin in PJO and a part of me might say poseidon because he's so closely linked to water and is "the best surfer" according to john b. continuing from my last two rants (1 & 2)... no thoughts, just the golden girl crying because of jj's harsh words and reality check. she has no idea where it came from. jj just cut it off, ripping it out like it would hurt him more than her. like he didn't care. she hides in her room, trying to convince herself it's nothing...but it's not just nothing, it was everything. she keeps it hidden from everyone, unable to show anyone how the most "perfect" girl on the island cries from a heartbreak that wasn't even hers in the beginning. no thoughts, just jj kicking himself for days and even more when he sees her at work and she won't even speak to him. her eyes don't glance or even go in his direction. he finds himself staring at her as if he didn't pull everything out from under them, like he wasn't the one the destroy everything. they go one with their shifts like two ghosts until they leave and they bump into each other while heading out. they stand for a moment, staring, before she rips open the door and walks out. he watches her, cursing himself. no thoughts, just john b watching his best friend turn into an echo of himself because of a girl. he couldn't believe it with his own two eyes. he's heard everything about her. her smile. her eyes. how she was incredible she is. what a terrible surfer she was but because he taught her, she's pretty okay now. the jj once knew was now gone. like a ripple of a wave. once there, gone the next. no thoughts, just john b telling jj he needed to "man-up" and stop moping. when did jj maybank ever mope? when did he ever not "do" what he needed to do? why did he self-destruct if this was someone he truly wanted around him? he needed to fix it or else he would regret it for the rest of his life? what if she found someone else? what if she hated him forever? no thoughts, just jj realizing his best friend was right and pulling himself from the hammock of despair and racing down to find her. he searches their job, outside of her house, her favorite snack bar, and finally the beach. no thoughts, just jj seeing the golden girl sitting alone at the beach while the sun goes down and he knows he needs to do something. he wants the right words and he wants the right phrases to come out of his mouth. he was never good with words, but if it's for her? he'd do anything. he only needs to step forward...
