Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus)
The Asian Elephant is without question my favorite animal. It's not the biggest or most imposing of elephant species, but it is to my taste the most elegant, with an almost mythical grace. And it hails from what I consider it the most interesting and beautiful eco-regions in the world.

Shoebill (Balaeniceps rex)
The very remarkable, prehistoric looking Shoebill is by far my favorite of all African birds. Undeniably intimidating, but also goofy looking, and with a certain degree of grace and poise as well. All around a wonderfully weird animal.

But the Black Captain established a camp at Andrath, where the Greenway passed in a defile between the Barrow-downs and the South Downs; and from there some others were sent to watch and patrol the eastern borders, while he himself visited the Barrow-downs.
