The very remarkable, prehistoric looking Shoebill is by far my favorite of all African birds. Undeniably intimidating, but also goofy looking, and with a certain degree of grace and poise as well. All around a wonderfully weird animal.

I made this study based on a photo I took while on vacation on Cuba before the pandemic. It is now a couple years old, but still holds up.
