         ❝  ISN’T NEW YEAR’S DAY EXCITING ?  i  just  love  the  atmosphere ,  it’s  always  so  full  of  hope  &  happiness .  i  don’t  think  i’ve  been  this  excited  for  something  since ...  oh  i  know ,  since  they  freed  britney !  ❞  the  princess  affirms  with  a  nod  of  her  head ,  one  of  certainty  and  confidence .  it  is  only  after  taking  a  sip  from  her  latte  that  aurora  speaks  again ,  ❝  i  must  say  i  don’t  know  britney ,  but  i’m  happy  she’s  free .  she  must  be  very  excited  about  the  new  year .  ❞

          ❝. YOU NEED TWO TO WIN ,  ❞  flynn  pointed  out ,   referencing  a  sign  in  the  back  of  the  booth .    ❝  and  it  seems  i  only  have  three  darts .  ❞   he  smiled  as  he  picked  up  the  new  darts .   it  was  such  an  easy  interaction ,   nothing  like  what  three  years  could  typically  do  to  a  person .   and  it  was  surprising  -  thinks  could  get  awkward  quickly ,   especially  when  he  only  just  recently  gained  the  confidence  to  be  charming .   things  were  different ,   yeah .   but  in  some  ways  it  seemed  exactly  the  same .

          he  couldn’t  help  but  notice  the  similarity  between  the  panda’s  new  name  and  his  childhood  nickname ,   even  if  it  wasn’t  painfully  obvious  without  that  sentiment .   ❝  i  say  blue  then ,  ❞   he  decided .   ❝  i’ve  always  been  a  fan  of  blue  and  green ,   as  i’m  sure  you  know .  ❞

          now  it  was  time  for  round  two .   who  knows  if  he  would  be  so  lucky  this  time ?   gripping  one  of  the  darts  in  his  hand ,   he  threw  it :   fumble  and  a  miss .   he  grumbled  incoherently  before  throwing  the  next  one .   pop .   one  more .

          ❝  alright ,   rosebud .   might  need  some  good  luck  with  this  one .   any  suggestions ?  ❞

              HER GAZE SHIFTS TO THE SIGN  in  the  back  of  the  booth ,  then  returns  to  flynn .   ❝  what ,  so  you’re  saying  you  can’t  make  the  darts  do  your  bidding ?  can’t  control  the  wind ?  my  goodness ,  how  disappointing ...  ❞  she  tells  him  in  a  teasing ,  playful  tone .  

            a  part  of  rosalie  felt  bad  for  making  flynn  try  to  win  a  second  plush  for  her ,  but  could  you  really  blame  her ?  regardless  of  how  happy  she  was  to  see  him  again ,  of  how  lighthearted  the  interaction  seemed  so  far ,  she  was  still  hurt .  even  it  just  a  little  bit .  the  princess  knew  it  wasn’t  his  fault ,  that  he  had  duties  much  like  liam’s ,  and  yet ... 

            ❝  of  course  i  know ,  and  they’re  beautiful  colors !  green  for  spring  &  rebirth ,  blue  for  freedom  &  intuition ,  ❞  rose  listed  as  though  having  memorized  the  meaning  behind  each  color  by  heart ,  which  she  probably  did  a  long  time  ago .  then ,  he  asked  her  for  good  luck ,  and  the  princess  felt  her  heart  stop  for  a  moment .  how  was  she  supposed  to  accomplish  that ?  rosalie  had  no  powers ,  nothing  she  could  actually  do  for  him ,  so  how  was  she  to  help ?

           the  only  idea  that  came  to  her  was  to  stand  on  the  tip  of  her  toes  and  press  a  small  kiss  to  the  guy’s  cheek  ---  and  so  she  did .  ❝  there ,  i’ve  just  given  you  all  the  luck  in  the  world !  be  sure  to  use  it  wisely ,  ❞  rosalie  instructed  before  turning  her  face  away  as  quickly  as  possible ,  attempting  to  concel  the  pink  color  taking  over  her  cheeks .
