"Observe." said the doctor, resting his scalpel against the young boy's arm. The blade dug into the flesh in a paper-thin line, drawing blood, but something was wrong, deeply, terribly wrong. The blood was dark, black even, thick like honey.

The doctor paused for a moment, and with a sharp intake of breath, said "This.. is Rot. We have identified countless strains as of now, affecting as many as twenty-three percent of the population. The symptoms vary greatly, from lethargy and melancholy to hysteria and delusions. They merge or disappear when certain conditions are met, but the conditions vary from individual to individual. Truly a baffling sickness. To think it affects the mind and not the body."

how do I say "I see everyone as NPCs" without people hearing "I see everyone as pawns"
