(hope it's okay i'm tagging you guys, but i've talked with you about my current bethyl wip the most)
so i've got basically the entire month of august off from work (woohoo extra-long spanish vacation), and i want to try and finish, or if not finish, at least write three quarters of this ain't no place for no hero. i still need to be working on my original fiction + studying, but with all the time off i have, i THINK i can do it.
the purpose of this post is that you guys will kick me in the ass if i don't thx bye!!!!

His breath was warm and wet on her bare thighs, the Soffe shorts rolled up high enough she might not be wearing them at all. She trailed her hand from his hair, letting it drift over his cheek until she’d lifted his head and he stared up at her with burning eyes. The way he looked at her, like he was a general who’d commanded thousands to their death, tightened her chest until it nearly was a physical ache.
“What could you have done different?”
His chin slid from her crooked fingers and he looked towards the blank wall. “I coulda taken the shot.”

Again, maybe if the situation had been different, she would’ve argued with him, and insisted on keeping watch for a change. But not this time. This time she was just too tired, a different kind of tired. Tired like after she’d watched her momma stumble out of the barn and then get shot in the head. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and let herself fall into the dark.
