thinkin about the time i asked one of my third graders what she was doing and she told me she was writing fanfiction
i love beth’s arc to becoming more self-sufficient and being able to defend herself but i hate it when she’s referred to having been “just a babysitter” before or people act like her taking care of judith was somehow less important than other work that people were doing
like????
the girl literally RAISED someone else’s child when she was only 17????
childcare is literally essential it might not be as exciting or glamorous as killing walkers or whatever but it’s just as important and i wish more people recognized that
maybe it wasn’t written this way, but i will never not believe that something happened between beth and daryl in the time between “still” and “alone”
like first of all you can just see evidence of time passing when you look at how they’re dressed (it’s clearly fall)
but also their body language and the way they interact with each other was just SO different (holding hands???? piggyback rides?????? CARRYING HER BRIDAL STYLE OVER THE THRESHOLD INTO THEIR NEW HOME????
okay maybe i’m being a bit melodramatic with the last one but still
plus you could read daryl’s confession to her as also a confirmation that whatever happened between them meant something to him (but of course, being daryl, he would never say it outright, at least not at that point), because that whole moment just feels very loaded with an unspoken tension
again i know that’s not how it was written but that is forever how i will see it

so i've got basically the entire month of august off from work (woohoo extra-long spanish vacation), and i want to try and finish, or if not finish, at least write three quarters of this ain't no place for no hero. i still need to be working on my original fiction + studying, but with all the time off i have, i THINK i can do it.
