To people who say that James never changed from a bully to a genuinely good person because Sirius is the “only” source and he’s biased:

Yes. I agree that Sirius is definitely a biased source, based on his behavior in the chapter “Snape’s Worst Memory” alone. However, what about all of the teachers? Are you discounting McGonnagal, who admired James as a person after he grew up a bit? She herself said that James was a wonderful person. We can assume that she was discussing him after sixth year, when he calmed down a bit. Are you discounting Dumbledore? A man who, although went about things in an, ah, unorthodox manner, trusted a man who turned from being a Death Eater? Dumbledore trusted Snape, he trusted Hagrid, and he saw that James changed. People are also forgetting that James canonically saved Snape’s life. Would he have done that if he didn’t have the potential to change for the better? Save the life of a person he despised with a burning passion? He could have let Snape die, killed by Remus in werewolf form. He could have just not done a thing, but he chose to act. He chose to save a life. So, while I despise how James acted as a young student at Hogwarts, I trust the canonical evidence from multiple sources that he changed.

I’ll be more than happy to make new friends and talk to people!
