Eddie saw Shannon doppelgänger in the store and all logic immediately left him (because she literally looks exactly like his ex-wife/best friend) that just proves that for him an emotional connection overrides everything.

He walked into the store and shamelessly teased and flirted with her, and not just ignored or forgot but outright denied the existence of his girlfriend despite being given the perfect opening to mention her.
