Please writers I'm begging you. Use SOMETHING to take notes. I use a private discord server because fuck it. You can use Google docs or whatever notes app comes on your phone but ffs write down your ideas. It's the most painful feeling in the world, forgetting an idea.

Ah, well, the month ends tomorrow and I'm still over a week behind on chapters. Oops.

Well, I've been working on some other stuff in between lack of inspiration for Uflufftober prompts so hopefully my upload schedule won't be so trash going forward. Like I said at some point near the beginning of the month, I'd rather them come out late and be good than come out on time and suck since I had to rush.

The comments and support I've been receiving on the chapters has been really motivating, so thank you so much for those. I don't think I would have made it this far if I didn't have people leaving comments on my work and letting me know how much they enjoyed it. Honestly makes my fucking day. Legit.

So...next chapter going up soon™?

Bunch of words under the cut, honestly I'm just ranting. Figured I'd spare your timelines of a massive wall of text.

Real talk, though. I cried for like 2 hours. From 2/2 all the way to the end. I would cry for a little while, and then stop for a bit. Then I would get to a cutscene or something and the waterworks would start back up again.

Man, I just...6 years ago, I played the original Persona 5. I finished it on May 27th, 2017, a little over a month after it released. I'm kind of impressed as to how I was able to marathon the whole thing in a month while balancing college and work (although I didn't have a whole lot of time dedicated to either at the time, so whatever).

It took me nearly three years to get around to finishing Royal. I got it on launch on PS4, played it for two weeks solid, and then...sort of fell off. I blame quarantine and going a little hard in the paint on playing it every day since I had nothing else better to do, but that doesn't really matter. I was also dealing with quite a bit on my plate at the time. From my car dying (and it being entirely my fault), to losing my job, to...well, I'm not going to make this about that. I could, but I'd be here for ages if I went over everything that's happened in my life.

I just want to say how special this game is to me. The characters, the story, the music, everything just sticks with me. Even after all this time. Even after I dropped the game for three years and picked it back up on PC after transferring my save (worth the money I spent on getting my saves decrypted, if I'm honest), I never stopped loving it. I just...had some other stuff going on. Between Royal coming out and now, since I've finished it, so much has happened. It's wild to think about how much life can change in three years. Hell, how much life can change in the 6 and a half years since I finished the original. So much has happened.

Perhaps it's a little "cringe" to think so fondly of a piece of media like this (enough to shed tears). A piece of fiction. Something, at its very core, not real. Fake. Made up. But there is something about it that's real, and I can't even put it into words. But, you're just going to have to take my word for it. If you know, then you know. If that makes me cringe, then so be it. I think any piece of media can have a message, and I've always found the messages in the games I enjoy motivating. "Time never waits, so find your own meaning to life's struggle, with your heart as your guide", "Be true to yourself, no matter how painful it may be", "Stick to your values, no matter how tough things are, and change the world for the better in your own way", "Once you're at rock bottom, the only way to go is up". I wish I could apply some of these messages in my own life. I suppose the only thing stopping me is me, right? That's how that works.

God, I can feel myself wanting to cry again, but I just don't have any more tears. I think this was the emotional release I've been looking for during the last couple months. Things aren't so good for me right now, and they're about to get a lot worse now that the holidays are coming up. I...don't like this time of year, to put it simply. This will likely come up in my writing in one form or another. (Write what you know, I guess?)

Persona, as a series, has always been so special to me. I hope that the series continues to grow in the best possible way. Can't wait to cry like a bitch when I eventually finish Persona 3 Reload!

Anyway, I had more stuff I wrote here, but I got waaaaaayyyy off track and into some personal places, so I'll stop myself here.

Aaaaahhh...yeah, that one is gonna be rough, even when I know it's coming. Yep.

Well...all that said...my journey with The Phantom Thieves of Hearts isn't over quite yet...I get to ride out yet another journey with these guys...not to mention P5T coming out in around a month. I'm glad to be able to spend more time with these characters. Now, then...

Beneath Their Masks Chapter 21 is Up!

There we go, now I'm caught up. Don't expect this kind of thing to happen again anytime soon. I'll definitely be even later next time, especially during the week. We'll see what happens, I guess. But I've been writing for like 5 hours so I'm gonna call it for today. Whatever happens, happens.

“Oh, I think this is a good spot.” Ann said, pointing to one of the empty picnic tables.

“It’s looking a little cloudy, Ann. Are you sure today was the best day to spend at the park?”

Makoto said, looking up at the overcast sky. “I think it’s supposed to rain.”

“It’s not supposed to rain until later tonight.” Ann said, setting the stereotypical picnic basket on the table. “You worry too much. Now come on, the food should still be warm.”

Ann opened the picnic basket and Makoto peered in. She expected to see wrapped bento boxes, but inside the basket was…

“Take out?”

“Yes?”

“Given the picnic basket, I would’ve expected something home-cooked. I’m not complaining, it’s just a funny visual.”

“Eheh, well I uh, kind of waited til the last minute to prepare for today. Besides, ramen just sounded good today. Alright, let’s dig in!”

Ann removed the containers from the basket and set it down beside her. Ann then removed the lids from the ramen containers and poured the broth, which was packed separately, into each of the waiting bowls.

“If only cooking was actually this easy. Well, alright, it’s ready now. Let’s eat!”

I hope this still counts as fluff? I mean, I dunno.

Leblanc was never a busy cafe most of the time. Sure, Sojiro had his hands full with things every once in a while, but that came with the territory of running a one-man-show. At least Akira was around to help out when he needed it. Not that he would admit he appreciated his help very often. This was exactly the kind of cafe that Sojiro would prefer to spend his time in. No loud music playing, no large groups making a racket, and a simple menu of things he liked. It was no wonder that the foot traffic was low compared to other chains, but the clientele was consistent. Today was one of those afternoons. Not a customer in sight for the last hour, but it left Sojiro with enough time to catch up on some menial tasks. Cleaning up messes, straightening up behind the counter, and giving each cup the attention it deserved.

The bell above the door jingled, signaling Sojiro to put down the cup he had been drying for the last few minutes as he let his mind wander.

“I’ll be with you in a- Oh, hey, you two.”

Ann and Makoto walked in, school bags slung over their shoulders.

“Hey, boss. Is Akira in today?”

“No, I haven’t seen him since he left this morning for school. Why?”

Ann’s smile faltered slightly.

“Just wanted to check up on him. I didn’t catch him at school, since he left once classes were over.”

“I’m sure he just had some errands to run. Should be back here before long. For a high-schooler, it seems like he always has something to do. Reminds me of myself when I was that age…but you didn’t come here to listen to this old man ramble on. What can I get you?”

“Two coffees, please.” Ann said, ordering for the two of them.

“Coming right up. Have a seat wherever.” Sojiro said, getting to work on their order.
