Beneath Their Masks Chapter 18 is Up!

Ok NOW I'm out of pre-written chapters. I officially have nothing written for tomorrow. So...if chapter 19 is late, then that's why. I work during the week so it makes getting chapters out on time a bit of a struggle if I do give myself a buffer beforehand. I will still try my best to maintain my current schedule as well as I can.

“Ann-chan, I have a question for you.”

“Hm?”

Ann looked up from her empty coffee mug. The pair were seated in a booth at Leblanc, waiting for Makoto to arrive so they could go see a movie at Haru’s recommendation. It was a horror movie, so Ann was a little worried about Makoto, but she assured Ann that she would be alright as long as Ann was there.

“I wanted to ask about you and Mako-chan.”

“Oh yeah, sure, what’s up?”

“Well, I’ve not been with the group very long, but you two seem very close. There’s one thing I don’t see you two doing as much as other couples.”

“And that is…?”

Haru blushed slightly. Surely she wasn’t going to ask about…

“Well, you two don’t seem to hold hands very often.”

Ann breathed a sigh of relief.

Ah, well, the month ends tomorrow and I'm still over a week behind on chapters. Oops.

Well, I've been working on some other stuff in between lack of inspiration for Uflufftober prompts so hopefully my upload schedule won't be so trash going forward. Like I said at some point near the beginning of the month, I'd rather them come out late and be good than come out on time and suck since I had to rush.

The comments and support I've been receiving on the chapters has been really motivating, so thank you so much for those. I don't think I would have made it this far if I didn't have people leaving comments on my work and letting me know how much they enjoyed it. Honestly makes my fucking day. Legit.

So...next chapter going up soon™?

Beneath Their Masks Chapter 19 is Up!

Yeah, it's late. Oops. Something a bit lighter and less makoann focused, but there's still some stuff there. I've kinda always wanted to do something the conversations that the party has in Mementos. I still have some ideas, so maybe I'll do another one of these someday.

Queen always felt a bit like a teacher trying to wrangle an unenthused class whenever she asked, but the results usually spoke for themselves.

“I’m good as long as we’re together, Queen!” Panther replied, brushing her hand over Queen’s, resting on the back of the front seat.

“Well, then…” Queen said, blushing behind her mask. She was thankful that her mask covered at least part of her face so it wouldn’t be so obvious. The red lighting in Mementos certainly helped.

"I recently finished a book, and now I'm having trouble figuring out what to read next..."

"Oh? It's nice to hear that you're committed to pursuing reading outside of school, Noir. What book was it? I may be able to offer a suggestion?"

"Thank you, Queen. It was actually a short story. It was called ‘I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream’!"

"Um. I may have to get back to you on a recommendation, then...I don't believe I've read that one...or have any desire to."

"Come now, Queen. You can't judge a book by its title, after all."

"Yes, but when it has a title like that? I don't think I need to read it."

Beneath Their Masks Chapter 24 is Up!

I know. I know. No more apologizing for being late. But still...sorry. Hope ya like it :) Not tagging makoann since it's not reaaaallly the focus until the very end. The rest of the chapters should be more focused, but these recent prompts lent themselves well to a larger group of characters. I guess we'll see what happens.

"Whose bright idea was it to bring Monopoly?" Futaba asked with a grumble.

"Um…mine?" Ryuji replied nervously. "Come on, I don't own very many board games but I wanted to contribute somethin’."

"You wanted to contribute to a murder case?"

“Ah, I believe I have heard of this phenomenon. Although, I have yet to play this game, so I can’t say whether or not this claim holds any water.” Akechi said, reaching the top step to Akira’s room.

Futaba and Ryuji were lounging around the large table normally reserved for pre-infiltration meetings. Since Niijima’s palace was all but completely explored, the thieves had much more free time on their hands. All the current Mementos requests were fulfilled, and so Futaba had pitched the idea of a group game night.

“You’d back me up, right, dick? It’s a justifiable cause for first degree murder.” Futaba said.

“I really wish you would stop calling me that…’detective’ is fine, but ‘dick’ is a step too far… Besides, that would actually be second degree murder. First degree is premeditated.” Akechi said, setting his briefcase down on the table with a sigh.

Welp, output is gonna be kinda slow for a while. I didn't catch up on writing today, I just played Persona 5 Royal. I'm almost done, I think. Hopefully once I'm done crying over that, I can get back to writing more BTM chapters. The last batch of prompts are ones I feel like I have some solid ideas for, so hopefully things come somewhat naturally

Just a little over a week left of flufftober.

Can't fail now. I will get to the end. Even if some chapters have to be a little late.

Also, I want to say that I am open to critiques of my writing. Don't be shy. Shoot me a DM or an anonymous ask and I'll have a look. There are a lot of things I want to improve on. Mainly my descriptions. I lean heavily on dialogue, and I feel like maybe that's not right? I don't know. Something to take into consideration, I guess.

When I do my second pass once the month is over, I want to be able to seriously improve it in any way I can. I've taken a few notes as far as canon is concerned to point out in the chapters themselves, so those will go in eventually.

Also I'm open to more of these 'tober' thingies. Like the monthly writing challenges. If there's one for december, I'd be happy to have a look at something like that. It's very motivating, even if I don't participate in the month itself, having prompts helps me exercise my writing of different scenarios I wouldn't have even thought of in the first place.
