Viola Desmond was a Black Canadian businesswoman and civil rights activist who fought it by refusing to leave a whites-only area at a movie theater in New Glasgow in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. Today she became the first Canadian woman to appear on a banknote. I’m extremely happy that Black women get the recognition they deserve!
