Im Still Mentally Processing The Machin Shin Scene And How We Hear The Portion Of Moiraines Experience

I’m still mentally processing the Machin Shin scene and how we hear the portion of Moiraine’s experience first. How it’s the first 4.5 seconds of a whole 54 second sequence and, yes, it hurts to hear about murdering the kids probably, but her face remains dry-eyed and composed. That means that whatever it is we didn’t get to hear in the remaining 49.5 seconds of Machin Shin time is what shattered her will to live and broke her into the feral shell of a human that she becomes for the rest of the next two episodes.
What else in fuck’s bloody name did she hear in the wind, I will never stop wondering.

aes sedai lecturer: here's a list of all the banned weaves you're never ever ever supposed to do
moiraine, only half listening as she's busy staring at siuan: list of weaves to do, got it
Still can’t believe we’ve gotten, canonically and unambiguously on screen-
1, a queerplatonic partnership between two leads that is very deeply intimate, and never diminished by characters or the narrative for being non-romantic and non-sexual
2, a loving and stable polyamourous relationship between three secondary characters, which is supported by their friends and coworkers, and which no one criticizes them or degrades them for
3, a wlw couple consisting of a lead and an extremely important secondary character who are presented as soulmates, kiss multiple times on screen, and are very intimate with each other, all without ever being framed as sexual objects for the audience
All of the characters involved have their own stories, their own selves outside of their partner(s). None of them are reduced to a caricature, all of them are treated as people. And to top it all off, not one of the relationships shown has been between exclusively white people! Including the only significant m/f pairing, which is not only interracial, but consists of a bisexual actress paired with a character who is also implied to be bisexual! Even the potential pairs that are being set up are all incredibly diverse!
It’s just, any one of these is so, so rare. And it’s particularly rare for relationships like these to be given any kind of prominent role in a story, especially in fantasy. But to have all of them featured in the same show, and for them all to be treated with equal respect and care? It just means so very much. And I am so grateful to Rafe & Co. for making it happen.
