camden doesn’t get out much. for a thirty year old, his social life is far from booming. though it’s not something he entirely minds. it isn’t like he ever really had one in the first place, and truthfully he would much rather be spending time with his son that at a party. but it’s one of his oldest friends birthday celebrations, so here he is anyway, slightly tipsy and with his mind elsewhere.

he’s wandered outside for some air, leaning against the metal railing with a cigarette between his lips. it’s a bad habit and he knows it — that’s why he’s quit at least six or seven times. but sometimes he simply needs one, and the rare flush of alcohol in his system isn’t helping. turns his head when he hears someone approach, half-smile capturing his lips as he exhaled a puff of smoke. “ i’m not supposed to be smoking, ” he states, slight chuckles as he brings his finger to his lips as if to ask them to keep it a secret. “ you having a good night ? ”

kai takes the joint from julian’s fingers, his eyes lazily tracing the horizon before bringing it to his lips. he inhales deeply, holding the smoke in his lungs longer than he probably should, before exhaling in a slow stream. he hums, eyes squinting at the view ahead likes he's trying to solve some kind of math problem — and he's neve been vey good with numbers. it's breath-taking, really. the kind of scene that makes you wonder what else is out there. " maybe it's bob ross, " he teases, not intending to pause, but somehow it happens. he takes another slow drag, the smoke clouding around him, blurring his outline before he's passing the joint back to the other. " dude's probably so bored up there he's resorted to painting our scenery. " he's quick to glance at the other with a half-lidded gaze, snort of laughter following. " or maybe we're both just really fucking high. " that option seems far more feasible.

sat on the sand, elbows resting on his knees, a neatly rolled joint was held lightly between julian's index and middle finger, taking a long drag before holding it out to the boy next to him. there's a comfortable silence, enjoying the cool evening air and the view of the sun setting on the horizon. it's picturesque, the way the sky blends with the water and the two mirror each other. "i know that people paint pictures based off real life or whatever," he muses, never being good at 'silence' anyway. "but this literally looks like someone painted it. or am i just high ?"
