Re-read Pharos because I definitely didn’t skip ahead to the Sanguinius parts the first time I read it and man... I knew what would happen and still... Polux and Dantioch man that shit hurted... Will still never get over Curze mocking Sanguinius’ voice and Sanguinius being afraid he actually sounds that vapid. The night lord characters are absolutely awful which makes them great. The ultramarine scouts are fun to read as well. Overall pretty good 7/10 not too bad. Needs more Polux and Dantioch “oh my god they were roommates” moments. And 11/10 but only for the part with Curze whining at Sanguinius for a good 20 mins. No I’m not heavily biased why would you say that?

Finished The Emperor’s Gift by Aaron Dembski-Bowden and MAN once again ADB delivers the feels. I have high hopes for Echoes of Eternity with everything else I have read from him. He writes such lovely and human characters and excels at their interpersonal relationships. Hyperion is an amazing character and I really love seeing his growth through the book. Was hilarious to see him interact with the mortals of the crew and of the inquisitor’s retinue. The Grey Knights as written by ADB seem very friendly to baseline humans they work with compared to a lot of chapters which I didn’t expect. They banter with the humans and joke around it’s great. I loved how he described squad Castian’s connection as psykers. I really love librarians so seeing them in a very synergistic and communal mode was interesting compared to the more individualistic librarians I’ve read from other chapters. Ending had me in my feels for sure. He even managed to write a space wolf character I didn’t absolutely hate so that’s a first. I was so immersed in this book at one point that I missed my bus. Played my first local league game against Tau and 🥲 bruh. I’m coming up on my 1 year wahrhammerversary but man I still have so much to learn. I’ve only played 50 games total and the meta changes so quickly. I just wanna paint my pretty boys so they can fabulously rip and tear. Only personal victory is I killed farsight in honorable melee. He is my favorite Tau sculpt anyway. Their infantry boys are too damn cute ngl. My opponent was a good friend so all was well, I had a good time! (Still processing the 5 stages of grief watching ss/th termies die in “melee” 🥲) chaplain is unfinished pls ignore him look at my nice chapter master instead.

Garro: sword of truth is a fun little story with a actual mustache twirling villain monologue that feels like it’s from metal gear solid and I enjoy that. The bossfight has a bangin theme. Loyalist world eaters are absolute chads.

It’s finished. It’s 8:34am. I haven’t slept in 2 days. If I have to paint another rivet I’ll cry. But it is done, it’s finally done. Good work self 🥰
