Would something like this work for your world? I sort of cheated because I had built it already, and also because it was just an EA makeover to start with, but..

/sobbing because Create-A-Sim runs at 130 fps now... before I got 20 if I was lucky.

I feel like such a professional simmer/gamer now.

It’s your blog; no need to apologize! ;)

I'm technically supposed to be a Simblr, though, but that's a true point. Someone needs to confiscate my simblr title from me, and just make it a Dulfin-posts-whatever-he-feels-like-blog. ; )

It's not just one game, either, it's like all of them. I had to save every minute or two in Bioshock 2 because the game crashed constantly, in fear of loosing progress. I barely made it through that game with my sanity intact. I tried every fix under the sun but nothing worked. The Sims 3 crashes from time to time, too. I'm pretty positive that it's not the games, or my hardware. I think its just Windows 8.

Too many fps can burn out your graphics card, so be careful.

Yup, I know, but thanks for the warning! I've been monitoring it and seeing how it is handling different games, because I worry a lot about stuff like that. It's been staying pretty cool, which makes me happy. It's been around 30-40° C when not under load, and it peaked at about 67° when I was playing Bioshock Infinite, which is about the most demanding game I have, and TS3 was much cooler. Anything hotter than that starts to worry me, anyway. :S

Tumblinrob reblogged this from Dulfin and added:

My desktop runs Win7 and has an AMD quad core with 8GB of RAM. When playing the Sims, the processor will get to 4GB and the computer will freeze,  Task Manager will show 100% processor usage yet another 4GB is still available.  I have never had luck with AMD processors.  My Intel purrs like a kitten on the laptop.

I've never had issues like that, interestingly enough. No 100% processor usage, just crashing. My computer sounds a bit similar, Windows 8 with an AMD quad core and 8GB of RAM, also. The Sims 3 runs fine most of the time, it just crashes occasionally.

This is my first ever HP. Before this computer I had 15 years of love tolerance for Dell. :P

I don’t run my games in compatibility mode, for what it’s worth. Also, HusbandUnit’s processor is a quad-core and he had to reduce the number of threads or something, but that was a very specific game. Not sure it’ll help you. :/

I googled that and it sounded complicated. I've just been dealing with my crashing issues. The only game that drove me to my wit's end was Bioshock 2, but I struggled through that game with it crashing and corrupting saves the entire way until the end, and still managed to enjoy it somehow.
