Jade regrets leading Aeron into this cavern. Now they’re trapped here for the night. Even if they wanted to leave and try to find the others, they’d have to work their way through the flood. And if she’s honest, she’s soaked enough as it is. They’ll just have to wait out the storm. She just wishes that she were warmer. Being in wet clothes and armor in the cold is only making her feel worse, but at least the cave walls are blocking the treacherous wind outside. She hopes Kit is safe and dry, wherever she might be out there.

She leans her head against the wall, letting it roll to one side so she can look at her elven companion. She doesn’t know how the two of them got paired up, but it could be worse. She could be stuck with Boorman right now. At least Aeron knew how to be quiet. “Looks like we’re stuck here for the night. Any ideas for keeping warm?” For now, Jade curls her body in on itself, knees pulled up to her chest as she blows warm air into clasped hands. She can barely feel them.

The wait is torturous. It’s so unlike Kit to not know what to say. From Jade’s experience, the younger girl often lacks tact and would rather be blunt than anything else. And that’s if one believes Kit actually thinks before she speaks, which she certainly is taking her time to do now. Jade understands being upset at the guy from the club, but it feels too much like Kit was overdoing things. Sure, Jade hadn’t appreciated him getting handsy with her, but it was her choice to walk away. Kit was the one starting a fight over Jade’s body.

Oh. She gets it now as Kit’s lips meet hers. She was jealous, she realizes. When did this happen? Or has Kit always felt this way? The younger woman pulls away before she has the chance to fully process what’s happening. But Jade chases her. Before Kit’s fingers can even reach her lips, the football captain is kissing her again. She doesn’t stop to consider what it could mean or what the consequences are. She just knows that it’s been so long since she’s felt wanted.

ㅤㅤㅤthe world spins around her yet jade remains still. her captain has a habit of pulling kit's attention into one singular focus, and what's worse about that is that she probably doesn't even know that she does. a part of her wishes she could just go back to the time where she believed that jade hated her. it sucked, but everything felt simpler. now there's a weight sitting on kit's chest and she doesn't know how to shift it.

ㅤㅤㅤthe truth? inhaling deeply, kit appears to be gathering strength. she feels a little woozy, but she can't tell if that's from the alcohol she's consumed or the anticipation of what she wants to say. when it comes down to it, though, kit can't seem to find the words, so she embraces impulse and leans over, pressing a quick kiss to jade's lips. she's back in her seat almost as quick and a fingers reach up to ghost her own mouth. oh shit.
