Fighting between them has always been a dance. Jade steps here, Kit moves there. Kit’s blue blade comes down, Jade’s green one flies up. Sparks fly before pushing off, searching for the next opening. Sparks always fly. But they've never danced so fast before, so lethally. Jade swings her blade down. She doesn’t want to mortally injure Kit. Just wound her well enough that she stops. Even Jade grows exhausted of swinging her lightsaber about, blocking, striking, pushing. And it weighs heavier with the conflict she feels swirling in the girl who was once her best friend. A storm so dark that Jade barely sees into it anymore. “And in your search, you chose to make enemies instead,” Jade observes when their blades lock once more. “Come home, Kit. Stop hiding.”

“There is always a choice, Elora!” It does feel like everything is falling apart. Even more so than when they reached the edge of the Shattered Sea. War is hard, even harder than any of them imagined when they walked into this. Hazel eyes move to look at the yellow glow, blinding them to what lays beyond that door. But Jade knows what’s there. She watched her go in. “Kit wouldn’t give up on us,” the knight declares, meeting the chosen one’s eyes again. “We don’t give up on her. We can save her. And her dad. We just have to make the choice.”

Jade ignores the mess of shoes Kit creates. They'll figure that out later. Honestly, having Kit here gives Jade something to focus on other than her grief. Even cleaning up the mess is more appealing than another second of crying and staring blankly at the TV. This could be good. It's something.

"You know, they did invent these things called cars," she teases. She grabs a towel from the linen closet near the bathroom. She then gently pushes Kit toward the sink counter, because knowing Kit, her instinct will be to sit on top of it, making it easy for Jade to run the towel over her hair and shoulders and just about anywhere else. All of this is natural for Jade, second nature. It's as if she's on autopilot. "I miss you, too." She pauses for a moment. She really does miss them all. Kit, Elora, Graydon. Being on the road. Playing music. It's only been three days since they cancelled their show right before they were meant to go on. And Jade doesn't know when she'll be coming back. "You guys shouldn't have to wait on me."

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤas predicted, kit kicks off soaked converse and face scrunches in an apologetic manner when they hit the floor with a splash. she makes a mental note to clean it up later - kit is all too aware of the divide that still sits between them after everything, and she isn't about to risk the simplest of things making that wider.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ❛❛ㅤyeah, i know,ㅤ❜❜ㅤshe replies, dumbly, eyes following the discarded blanket as she does. kit barely has time to form another sentence before jade is whisking her off. she allows the redhead to lead, too wrapped up in the feel of the other's hand holding her own. no, stop. don't think about that; that's not why you're here.ㅤ❛❛ㅤran, actually. i know, i know, amazing, right? speedy gonzales has nothing on me.ㅤ❜❜ㅤwhen they get to the bathroom, kit takes a deep breath and, finally, looks at jade. really looks at her.ㅤ❛❛ㅤi missed you. i mean, like, the band doesn't really work when you're not there. didn't feel right. so... yeah.ㅤ❜❜

She's so tired. She feels tired all the time and has since she got the phone call over the weekend. She can smell the food Scorpia and Boorman are cooking, but she can't bring herself to get up. The entire house is filled with Ballantine. The kitchen. The hallways. The bedrooms. Even just her sitting in the living room, wrapped in one of the blankets they kept on the couch, reminds her of him. This was the house he'd raised her in since she was a small child and now?

The door someone is banging on belongs to her now. She sighs, forcing herself off the couch, and goes to the door. Normally, she'd just let Scorpia handle it, but Jade would feel guilty if she made Scorpia do more when she's already busy. She opens the door and is surprised to see Kit, as if she hasn't been by the house everyday since they returned. And she's absolutely soaked from the rain. Has it been raining? Jade can't remember noticing. "I thought you were doing label stuff today," she says, her voice small, as if she's afraid to use it or it's too weak to be anything more.
