ok so the core difference between the emotions that the ace attorney series and the danganronpa series are supposed to evoke is in the villains. the whole premise of danganronpa, like the whole idea of it, guarantees that almost all of the villains are pitiful. the villains are as developed as the victims and the game makes it very clear that these are children in an impossible situation designed specifically to make them do this and this is a tragedy. the murders are desperate and often pathetic. ace attorney, on the other hand, VERY rarely plays an actually sympathetic villain, and skews far more towards selfish privileged people killing for their own self-interest and having an absolute ball doing it. ace attorney villains are having fun!! if the villain is having fun, the audience is too!! tl;dr danganronpa is a tragedy with comedy elements and ace attorney is a comedy with tragedy elements
