Daily update(33)

It is a sadness of strength, my friend, not a sadness of weakness, so do not worry about me. The kind of sadness that becomes a mountain. Sadness becomes a thousand books and a revolution.

It never leads its owner to fall.

Sadness of the Palestinian kind..

Daily Update(33)

My friends, today I am struggling to reach the fourth goal of 40k by next Sunday, so I ask for your support and interest.

Getting Siraj & His Family to 40k+ By this Weekend!!

hi again everyone, i am writing to you all again in hopes you will donate to @siraj2024's campaign to rebuild his family's home. Siraj is a Gazan journalist and a father who wants nothing more than to give his family safety again.

every single day, we read and watch videos of new horrors in Gaza. Siraj and his family are not watching these things happen on screens thousands of miles away, they are living in the thick of it, trying to survive. and now two of his children are sick, all the while still taking the 3 km walk to get internet and to tell the world about his family and their right to life.

i want to quote Siraj:

With every book you read, there are true stories written in blood. Does this mean anything to you? Why are am I telling you that? I don't know. But dear friend said to me one day: "Write, Siraj. Don't stop. Write so that Siraj can rest. Write for Siraj."

i am a writer, someone who tells stories just like my friend Siraj. and i want him and his family to have safety, security in life and the ability to live life again, not just try to survive. if i do not help my fellow writer, my friend and man like Siraj, i am nothing to my word.

while we have reached short-term goals before and that is wonderful, we have to keep this energy and reach our next temporary goal: 40,000 by this weekend! the long-term goal is 82,000 to rebuild his home for himself and his family. please do anything in your power to help him and his family by donating, reblogging & sharing this campaign wherever you can.

i want to thank you all for what you've done so far, but we have to continue. for Siraj and his family and everyone who seeks to build a better life again. this is a community effort! (as a reminder, he & his family are #219 on the vetted gaza fundraiser list)

the fundraiser is currently at $34,207. now let's get Siraj to 40,000k!!

I'd like to make an update post on Suad Ahmad @suad-ahmad whose story I've shared before.

When I first shared Suad's tragic story, she was a 9 months pregnant woman, trying to survive under the harshest circumstances imaginable with her family. Since then, she has given birth to a beautiful boy named Khaled, but her struggles have only increased.

A collage of 7 images. From top to bottom, left to right, they are:
1) Image of a newborn child with red spots all over his cheeks.
2) Image of an infant's leg, covered in red spots
3) Image of the same infant on an X-Ray machine, held down by a doctor
4) Image of the same infant, his hand is bandaged and an IV cannula is embedded within.
5) Image of an X-Ray photo displayed on a laptop
6) Image of the infant sleeping
7) Image of the infant crying as a doctor tends to him

(ID in Alt)

Now, Suad is trying to care for her infant in horrible conditions. They have unstable accommodations currently, often not knowing where her family will sleep on any given day. And some days, they go without a roof over their heads. On top of this, the heat and the insects are causing intense discomfort to her and her family.

Due to these conditions, her infant, Khaled, is constantly getting fevers and infections. At this age, he is so vulnerable, and while living in a diseased and filthy environment, without even proper nutrition, his health is at risk, which is causing Suad and her family great distress. Not to mention the bombings and massacres which they face every single day.

Suad has tried to take him to the hospital, but there is no proper healthcare anywhere in Gaza. The hospitals have no supplies and they are so crowded that treating Khaled in this environment could just make his illness worse.

Suad's situation is dire, and every bit of help you can offer would make a huge difference.
