Imagine dedicating your life to another man, that’s kinda…….
Anyways, so guys i dont think i can deliver those fics as promised, sorry. My brain been hijacked by wuko💔
Hi im currently getting through ur wuko fics and they've absolutely destroyed my confidence in my own writing 👍
First of all, thank you for reading my fics! I hope you are enjoying them!!
Secondly OH NOOO please don't let your confidence get destroyed 😢.
I know this feeling and I know it well. Its so hard not to compare ourselves to others! I've read works that made me question my own writing 😭 So trust me, I get it and I'm so sorry that you're feeling that way!
Let me reassure you though, what you see on ao3 is the result of LOTS of edits, rewrites, more edits, rewrites, beta reading, edits, more beta reading before I finally post it!!
My writing style involves just word vomiting and writing whatever comes to mind (often quite badly) then going back and just. Editing. Deleting passages, rewriting passages, adding to passages... Then starting over and repeating the process until I feel confident enough to send it to my beta reader... Then after my beta reader gives notes and suggestions, I go back and do another round of editing! Depending on how much I had to change, I might even send it to my beta reader AGAIN to make sure my edits work.
The final product is usually something I'm proud of! But it's sometimes indistinguishable from my first draft or even my idea dump or outline. I do write a lot of cringey, awkwardly worded, and just downright bad stuff. But I don't post it so no one has to know! 😅
I don't know where you are in your writing journey, how long you've been writing, how often you write, etc. But I've also had a lot of time and practice to improve my writing over the years. I've been writing fanfic since before I even knew what fanfic was... So like. 25 years. I feel like I've improved A LOT over the last year since I got really serious about completing a longfic. But that's mostly because I've been writing consistently so I'm getting a lot of words out. Writing really does take practice.
I think even the best writers out there feel insecure about their writing. But if you want to write, if you like writing, then you should write! And try not to compare yourself to other writers because you're probably comparing apples to oranges!
