Maiden of the Moon

Maiden Of The Moon

What if Kokushibo had a pupil, whom he taught the original Moon Breathing before he deserted the Demon Slayer Corps?

Mochizuki Yua was born only for these reasons: To become a Hashira and make her family a respected one in the Demon Slayer Corps.

But if you only live for the expectations of others, who are YOU truly?

What will it take to find yourself?

A long, hard journey awaits.

Maiden Of The Moon

On my DeviantART, I posted how Yua looks. Currently, she wears a ponytail, which is also the first of her hairstyles in my pic.

Hope you enjoy it.

Chapter 2: Moonlight Beauty

Yawing Yua stretched her arms in the air closing her eyes.

Currently, she was walking on a village street between farmland. Her trusty crow Kaguya flew over her head, showing her the way to her next mission.

She had finished off today already a demon, who had terrorized the farmers in this prefecture. Destroying their farmland and eating anyone who at night left their homes.

It had been a challenging fight, the demon had been crafty, but her Moon Breathing once again was superior.

Maybe she should go to a Wisteria House or even home, but she needed to keep going.

She couldn’t show up again home without raising in Rank.

Yua was only a bit tired. She would manage.

Just keep going.

You can only go forward.

That’s when her ears reached a loud ruckus. Confused she opened her eyes.

A drop appeared on her forehead as she saw the scene before her.

There were two boys.

One with a green checker haori, the other in a yellow with white triangles.

Yellow haori was on his knee, clinging to checker haori, screaming about he would die soon and more nonsense.

Normally Yua would ignore that, but she saw that both wore the Demon Slayer Corps Uniform.

These were fellow swordsmen.

Her father had taught her that she had to help her brother and sisters in arms. The Demon Slayer Corps was or should be one big family that should be there for each other.

Also, she couldn’t just walk around them. If it came out that she didn’t help her brothers-in-arms, it could lower her chance to become a Hashira.

She couldn’t make any mistakes.

So with a forced smile on her pink lips, she called out to them: “Anything all right with you guys?”

Yua regretted already talking to them as the yellow haori formally zeroed in on her, pointing.

“AAH, a beautiful Demon Slayer girl! I must be dreaming! You look like the famous Moonlight Beauty of the Corps.”

Oh no!

Another one who had heard this stupid nickname some slayer had giving her as a joke to rill her up.

“Moonlight Beauty?”, repeated green haori confused, which only angered yellow haori: “Do you live under a rock Tanjiro?! There is said to be a beautiful girl with long midnight blue hair like the night sky, eyes as grey as moonlight, and a figure to die for in the Demon Slayer Corps! Also, she is pretty strong.”

Of course that she was strong was an afterthought. If she ever again stumbled over this worm Katsumi Tomita, she would kick his ass. Rules be damned!

“I have a name, you know!”, she called over, putting her hands on her hips. “I’m Mochizuki Yua, proud Demon Slayer for four years, Rank Hinoto. I won’t let you reduce me to only my looks, crybaby Mizunoto!”

Yellow Haori screamed with ugly tears crybaby Mizunoto, till he seemed to register what else she said.

“Mochizuki Yua?! You are really the Moonlight Beauty-“

“-And your senpai!”, she added with a growl.

Yua couldn’t look that fast as green haori, gripped yellow haori by his neck, making him and himself bow to her.

“I’m sorry for my friend, senpai.”, apologized green haori. “We didn’t mean no disrespect.”

At least someone had manners.

“What’s your name, Mizunoto?”, she asked green haori.

He looked up and Yua had to blink for a second.

Oh, he was a handsome boy.

He had lovely dark red eyes, just like his hair, and was a bit smaller than her. Well, she was 170 cm and surely older than him, so no wonder.

“I’m Kamado Tanjiro and he is Agatsuma Zenitsu, we really meant no disrespect.”

Again Tanjiro made them bow, while Zenitsu sniffled.

“If Agatsuma-San stops calling me Moonlight Beauty and acting that shameless, I will.”

Tanjiro promised as Zenitsu wailed that he wasn’t shameless if he was dying soon.

Who in the name of Tsukuyomi did Yua just meet?

Maiden Of The Moon

A while later Yua and her new acquaintances Tanjiro and Zenitsu were walking together.

Apparently, they all headed in the same direction.

The good thing was Zenitsu had finally calmed down because Yua was this close away to gag the blond boy with a cloth, so he would stop crying and bitching about how he would die soon.

Nuisance!

Tanjiro didn’t share her sentiment, since he asked in calming and reassuring voice if Zenitsu was okay.

“Yeah.”, sniffled Zenitsu his last tears away. “Now that I’m calmer, I’m getting hungry.”

Yua couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Naturally, there was something new with the Nuisance.

She didn’t get how Tanjiro could give him his Onigiri, if he only had one. At least Zenitsu had enough manners to share the Onigiri with Tanjiro.

“Aren’t you hungry, Yua-Senpai?”, asked Tanjiro worried.

The midnight blue-haired girl just deadpanned.

“No, don’t worry. I eat before.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, Kamado-San, I am.”

“Oh, all right.”

That boy was way too sweet and caring. He would get eaten alive in this world. Yua wonder what had pushed him to become a Demon Slayer.

Her grey eyes wander over the box the red-haired boy carried.

“I know what you mean when you say you’re scared of demons, but you can’t make trouble for your sparrow.”, told Tanjiro, Zenitsu.

“Huh? Was it distressed?”, wonder the blond. “The sparrow? How can you tell?”

“Well, he says that you’re always whining about not wanting to go to work, and you’re always hitting on girls and that you snore so loud, he’s had it! So he says.”

“You are a pathetic skirt chaser also? Tzz.”, grumbled Yua under her breath, crossing her arms.

“He’s saying that?! You can understand bird language?”, asked Zenitsu, the red-haired boy in utter confusion.

Yua answered for him: “Any kasugai crow or in your case, sparrow can talk. You didn’t notice?”

“You’re lying, senpai, right?! You’re just trying to trick me!”

That’s when Kaguya and another crow, probably Tanjiro one, called down to them: “Start running! Start running! Yua, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, run! The three of you head over to your next destination! Run! Run, Yua, Tanjiro, Zenitsu!”

This shocked Zenitsu so much that he screamed in fright and started to roll around on the ground.

Tanjiro looked worried at him, while Yua just deadpanned.

A Nuisance, trough, and trough.

Having enough Yua gripped Zenitsu by the collar of his yellow haori dragging him in the direction their crows lead them, ignoring his screams of letting go and he didn’t want to go.

Tanjiro caught up to her.

“Senpai?”

“Kamado-San, we don’t have time for Agatsuma-San’s little crisis. We need to go. Anytime we waste, another human life could be taken.”

“If you say so, Yua-Senpai.”

So Yua dragged Zenitsu behind her, while Tanjiro followed.

The young woman wonder what would await them on this joint mission.

Maiden Of The Moon

After walking through a forest and ignoring pointedly Zenitsu’s cries that he wouldn’t be much help to them, the three Demon Slayers found themselves before a mansion.

Yua let go of Zenitsu, so he could stand up.

The three looked at the mansion in caution.

“I can smell blood.”, told Tanjiro “But this particular scent…”

“Huh? You smell something?”, wonder Zenitsu.

“Something I’ve never smelled before.”

“I don’t know about that, but do you hear that sound? Also, are we three gonna work together, after all?”

The only female crossed her arms, fixing the mansion with sharp eyes, concentration on it. Demonic and human presence, that much was clear.

That’s when all three saw two children, hugging each other, between bushes and trees.

It was a young boy and a little girl.

“K-Kids…”, stutter Zenitsu.

“They are scarred.”, added Yua.

“I wonder what’s wrong.”, wonder Tanjiro, walking up to them. “Hey, guys, what are you doing here?”

But the children are so terrified they can’t manage to talk, only after Tanjiro shows them Zenitsu cute little sparrow, the boy tells them what’s going on.

All the alarm bell ring in Yua’s head as she hears their story.

“The monster only took you brother?”, she repeats and the young boy nods shyly. “This is not good.  There is only one explanation if a demon takes only one specific human and doesn’t care for others.”

“What is it senpai?”, asks Tanjiro.

Yua explains: “Their older brother must be a marechi. This is the rarest blood type that exists and is particularly appetizing for demons. They forget anything and just want that person’s blood, so tasteful it is to them.”

The freaked-out look on Zenitsu’s face was a bit funny while seeing the siblings scarred made Yua’s heart hurt. They remind her of Kaito and Hikari.

So she kneels down to them and pats their heads.

“Don’t worry. He is still alive, I can feel it.”

Brother and sister just stare with big eyes at her. Secretly Tanjiro wonders what the older girl means by she feels that he is still alive, but this was not important right now.

He turns back to the kids.

“We’re going to defeat the bad guy and rescue your brother!”, promises Tanjiro them.

“Really? You really will?”, asked the little girl to be sure.

“Yeah. For sure!”

Yua nods in agreement.

“Just wait, soon you will have your brother back.”

“Tanjiro…Yua-Senpai…”, calls Zenitsu for them, still holding his hands on his ears. “Hey, what is this sound? This creepy sound never stops. Is it a tsuzumi?”

Tanjiro and Yua both don’t hear anything.

Suddenly a tsuzumi drum can be heard in the area.

All look around to find the source, till on the final drum beat, a boy’s body flies out from the door on the second floor.

Shocked shouts turn to screams as the body hits the ground.

On instinct Yua hugs the children to herself, shushing them: “Don’t look, don’t look, okay, sweeties?”

Meanwhile, Tanjiro holds the poor dying boy in his arms, hugging him to himself in his last moments.

“Hey, is this man your…”, he calls over.

The young boy shaking in Yua’s arms tells him that this is not their older brother since he wears a persimmon-colored kimono.

Careful Tanjiro lays the dead boy on the ground, promising him in his thoughts to give him a proper burial after he saved the older brother of the kids.

“All right. Zenitsu, Yua-Senpai come on!”

“Right!”, agrees Yua, slowly letting go of the still-scarred kids.

Zenitsu so doesn’t want to enter the mansion and come with them, till Tanjiro just turns away from him, showing Zenitsu he will leave him behind. Of course, the blond boy doesn’t want that, agreeing to come with them.

Then Tanjiro kneels again before the kids, while Yua gives them some last pats to calm them down.

He puts his box down on the ground before them.

“In case of an emergency, I’m leaving this box behind. Even if something happens, you two will be protected.”, Tanjiro promises the siblings.

Calmy Yua stares at the box, it seems like her eyes twinkle with light, saying nothing.

“Kamado-San, Agatsuma-San, let’s enter the mansion.”, orders Yua, walking up to it. “Since I have the higher Rank, I will lead this mission. You are both under my command now.”

“Of course, Yua-Senpai.”, acknowledge Tanjiro, Zenitsu reluctantly follows them while sobbing.

The trio enters the mansion.

It’s eerie and quiet.

Yua feels her nose tickle from the dust that flies around.

Demon doesn’t care for housekeeping it seems.

Tanjiro and Yua walk further into it, as Zenitsu cries out behind them: “Tanjiro! Hey, Tanjiro! Senpai! Yua-Senpai! You’ll protect me, right? You’ll protect me, right?”

Together the three stop.

“Zenitsu, I hate to put you on the spot, but… I’ve got a broken rib and leg from my previous battle.”, admins Tanjiro. “And neither is fully healed yet. So –“

You could have told me sooner from Yua gets drowned out by Zenitsu totally losing his nerves. The blond-haired boy again rolls around the ground crying about how he is going to die.

Annoyed Yua picks him up by his collar and gives him a hard slap in the face. She ignores Tanjiro’s shocked gasp since Zenitsu stopped freacking out and hangs like a cloth from her hand.

“Listen to me Agatsuma! No one die’s on my watch!”, she growls pissed off. “I’m not a Hinoto for nothing. I won’t let die any of my men, but for that get yourself at least together and stop being a crybaby or I will personally give you something to really cry over!”

Zenitsu squeaks quietly in fright, while Tanjiro means: “Senpai…please don’t be so hard on him. Demons can be scary, his fear isn’t without reason.”

“He will never woman-up if he shit his pants because of anything slightly scary.”

“Woman-up?”

“The future is female, Kamado-San.”

Before Tanjiro can say something both he and Yua see how the two siblings enter the mansion.

“Goddammit, kids!”, grumbles Yua and lets Zenitsu fall on the floor.

The boy lets out a tiny shriek.

“You shouldn’t be here!”, scolds Tanjiro the kids.

“M-Mister, we heard scratching sounds from inside that box!”, tells the boy.

“E-Even still, it pains me that you left it behind! I mean, it’s more precious to me than my own life!”

A wild and chaotic tremor occurs throughout the mansion. The group looks cautious and fearful around.

Zenitsu covers his ears and falls to his knees, accidentally bumping Tanjirou and the little girl into a room.

“Ah, sorry! My butt…”

A drum is played, and Tanjiro and the little girl vanish before their eyes!

Yua gets a determined look on her face, drawing her Katana, while Zenitsu screams in fear and shock and the little boy is frozen.

“Stay calm!”, she orders.

“HOW CAN I BE CALM?! TANJIRO VANISH!”, shouts Zenitsu.

Many things happen at the same time.

Zenitsu wants to throw himself at Yua, but she backs away from him, into the room behind her, the drums play again and suddenly she is in another room, no Zenitsu and the little boy to see. Or Tanjiro and the little girl for that matter.

The drums play a few times, Yua holding her Katana before her, ready for anything, till it stops.

She is now in a room that seems like a normal bedroom.

Analyzing her surroundings her eyes wander from one corner to another.

Nothing she sees and nothing she feels out of place.

“The room changed as the drum played.”, she thoughts. “This must be the Blood Demon Art of the demon who took the older brother of the kids. Now the question is…shall I stay in the room and wait till it changes again…or follow my gut in hopes it leads me in the right direction.”

Ramble, Ramble, Ramble

I need to get something out of my chest.

I hate sometimes being an author.

Stories that you write with love and put a lot of thought into it get ignored and stories you thought randomly about at 3 a.m. are freacking well-loved, that even after you finish them, they still get comments or likes. *side-eyes Isekai'd as Chloe*

I noted also Reader Insert more loved than stories with OCs, I ask you why? WHY?

For us authors OCs are our kids, why don't you like my child, but as soon it's in the reader's perspective it's hot shit.

Currently, I want to write for Maiden of the Moon because I love my moon bunny Yua, I want to tell her story so much, but besides one person, no one commented on it.

Then we have The Fox and the Sun, which is really Mary-Sue if you think about it, Local Ex-Upper Demon is a Demon Slayer, overpowered, and will date sunshine child Tanjiro more at 11 p.m.

I bet if I made Maiden of the Moon a Reader too it would have been more liked.

What is this hate with OCs?

AN OC IS AN INVENTED CHARACTER OF A FAN AND THEY COULD NEVER DESTROY YOUR SACRED CANON SINCE IT'S A GODDAMN FAN CHARACTER IN A GODDAMN FANFICTION, A STORY WRITTEN BY A FAN WITH ABSOLUT NO POWER OVER THE ANIME/MANGA/MOVIE/TVSHOW/CARTON/COMIC/GAME/ETC.

I'm just...I don't get it!

I always loved OC, because, let's be real, most canon pairings suck, or canon is so stupid in a lot of things and needs someone to call out the bullcrap or canon ended so bad some needs to fix it.

I'm the strange one?

Like I want to really hear why Reader-Inserts can be the most Mary-Sue thing ever and all will eat it up, but a well-thought OC gets hate because they get shipped with a canon character, they change the storyline completely, they are the hero or etc.?

What is the difference?

What?

Also, pro-tip from an author if you love a story.....THEN COMMENT ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AUTHORS NEED COMMENTS LIKE FOOD, HOW THE HECK SHOULD WE KNOW YOU LOVE OUR STORY AND WANT MORE IF YOU DON'T TELL US. A LITTLE SMILEY-EMOJI IS ENOUGH. WE ARE AUTHORS WE WILL INTERPRET EVEN INCORRECT KEYSMASH AS SOMETHING POSITIVE.

Well more I don't have to say.

Have a nice day/night!

To Belong : The End

To Belong : The End

She was the weird foreign girl, he was the most useless Viking in the history of Berk. Together they were just Leandra and Hiccup. Two best friends who searched for their place in the world. Would their search for it unite or separate them?

To Belong : The End

After thinking long and hard I decided to finish Leandra and Starchaser's story.

Leandra in particular became a character I just can’t see that she ever would get back to Berk to be with Hiccup after he choose Astrid and Berk over her.

For her, it’s clear that she will always be second best to him and she deserves better.

So this is the final chapter of Leandra and Starchaser's story, I will delete My War and Together, we map the world.

I hope you enjoy the Epilogue ^^

To Belong : The End

Epilogue: The Last Rider and her dragon

30 years later……

In a little village in China near the Silk Road…

Careful to not wake up her beloved wife Xia, Leandra stood up from their shared bedroll.

Xia just mumbled something, rolling over where Leandra had lied a few seconds ago, enjoying the warmth.

The Spanish woman couldn’t help but smile. Xia was still so cute like when they had met as twenty-somethings.

In the corner of the bedroom, her darling Night Fury Starchaser slowly woke up and greeted her with a smile.

Starchser wasn’t as young as she was once, her black scales, looked more smoky-black and her golden eyes had darkened with age.

Leandra gently stroked Starchaser's head, feeling grateful for the dragon's companionship all these years. She knew that Xia loved the Night Fury just as much as she did, and it was one of the things that brought them together in the first place.

The black-haired woman tiptoed out of their small bedroom, making her way to the kitchen to start breakfast. She couldn't wait to surprise Xia with her favourite dish, huevos rancheros, her version.

As she cooked, she thought back on all the memories they had made together - travelling the world, adopting children, and building a life filled with love and adventure.

Despite the challenges they had faced as a same-sex couple in some places they had visited, Leandra knew that Xia was worth fighting for. She was her soulmate and best friend, and nothing could ever change that.

As she placed the hot plate of food on their small table, Xia appeared in the doorway with a sleepy smile on her face. "Good morning," she yawned.

"Good morning my love," Leandra replied with a grin. "I made your favourite."

Xia's eyes lit up at the sight of huevos rancheros. "You're amazing," she said before planting a soft kiss on Leandra's lips.

They sat down to eat breakfast together, enjoying each other's company. Starchaser soon joined them and ate her basket full of fish.

After that Leandra and Xia took their morning flight with Starchaser to enjoy the thrill.

Neither of the women would get ever tired of this feeling.

Sadly they couldn’t just keep flying like once they were young, they had responsibility.

Today was market day in their little village and Xia turned to buy the groceries they needed.

With both a kiss for the Spanish woman and dragon, she made her way there, while Leandra and Starchaser worked on their rice field.

When the black-haired woman was once a young girl she never thought that one day she would love such a simple life and yet here she was.

Humming a small melody she worked on the rice field when suddenly she heard Starchaser growling.

Confused Leandra looked up.

Starchaser was growling at a young man. He was clothed like a traveller and had the same tan skin as herself, black short hair and blue eyes.

Something about them was familiar...

“Leandra Alvarez?”, he asked her in perfect norse. Leandra felt how her heart began to race...no could it be possible? “And that dragon must be Starchaser...I’m Ulf Alvarez.”

The basket where she had put the rice fell from her hands as tears shot into her eyes.

“Ulfi, my little brother!”, she chocked out. “You are all grown up!”

Without a word, the siblings hugged each other tight. Leandra noted how tall Ulf was. Taller than their father.

“I wished so long to meet you big sister!”, cried Ulf. “The letter you left behind wasn’t much and by Odin, you were hard to track down.”

“I travelled the world. Seems like you did the same.”, she cried, kissing his cheeks.

They weren’t the squishy baby cheeks but had stubble.

God, her Ulf really was here and all grown up!

Even Starchaser seemed to recognize him and licked his cheeks, which made Ulf laugh happily.

It was now early evening and the Alvarez siblings were seated at the little veranda of Xia and Leandra's home.

Xia was so nice to cook dinner, while they cached up, Starchaser was flying alone a big round over the property.

“I still can’t believe that there is one dragon left.”, mussed Ulf and took a sip from the rice win Xia and Leandra made. “We all thought...well that any dragon in the world heard Toothless command.”

Leandra snorted.

“Starchaser was once his mate, in the relationship she was the Alpha, she would have never listened to him...also I think she loved me more and rather stay here with me than go...what did you call it? The Hidden World?”

Ulf nodded.

Both siblings took each a sip of their rice wine, gathering their thoughts.

“So Hiccup married Astrid?”, couldn’t help Leandra but ask.

Xia may be her soulmate, her one true love, yet Hiccup had been her first love.

You never quite forgot your first love. Especially if it had hurt you so bad.

Nervously Ulf rubbed his neck.

“Yeah...they have two kids, Zephyr, their oldest girl, and Nuffink, a boy.”, told her Ulf.

The black-haired woman pursed her lips and then nodded slowly.

Well, it didn’t surprise her, even if one part of her, the one who still was 16 and in love with Hiccup cried out.

Hiccup had made long ago his decision. When he had the chance to run away with her and chose to follow after Astrid to make her see reason.

Tzz.

“Are they happy?”

“I think so...but Dad told me, that Hiccup had said to him on his wedding day if you would appear suddenly he would cancel the wedding.”

“Really?”

“Whatever you wrote in the letter for Hiccup made him hope till last that you would come back to Berk...but I think he made finally his peace now.”

“It’s better so, I have a wife that I love very much and a bunch of little brats I love.”

This made Ulf laugh and squeezed her free hand.

“Again, tell me where all my nieces and nephews are?”

After dinner, Leandra and Ulf talked late into the night, catching up on all the years they had missed.

Xia listened to their stories, occasionally interjecting with a question or comment.

Starchaser eventually returned from her flight, settling herself next to Leandra as they chatted.

As the night grew darker, Leandra realized that she was grateful for this unexpected reunion with her brother. She had missed him more than she had realized and was glad that he had found his way back to her.

The next morning, Ulf said his goodbyes and promised to keep in touch. Leandra watched as he disappeared down the road, feeling a sense of loss mixed with happiness at having seen him again.

As she turned back towards their home, Xia wrapped her arms around Leandra's waist and rested her head on her shoulder. "I'm so happy you got to see your brother," she whispered.

Leandra smiled, feeling content and loved.

She knew that life would continue to bring surprises and challenges, but as long as she had Xia by her side and Starchaser in their lives, she could face anything.

The Fox And The Sun

Chapter 2: Good or Bad?

Your prayers were been answered.

Two of the Master’s daughters, you think it’s Nichika and Hinaki, announce the arrival of Oyakata-Sama.

With the help of his daughters, he was led to the edge of the veranda, while he greeted you all calmly and welcoming, being glad that you all were fine.

All Hashira’s got in line and kneeled before him.

You saw how Shinazugawa formally smashed poor Tanjiro’s face into the dirt so that he kneeled also.

You suppressed a growl.

The boy didn’t deserve this treatment.

“I am pleased to see you in good health as well, Master.”, greeted the white-haired Hashira. “I fervently pray for your continued good fortune.”

“Thank you, Sanemi.”

“If I may, Master… Before we start the Hashira Meeting, would you mind enlightening us about this swordsman, Tanjiro Kamado, accompanied by a demon?”

The master gave you all an apologetic smile. “Right. I apologize for startling you all. But first, before I tell you my decision on this matter…Inari-San, can you please tell us all your story?”

Not only you blinked surprised, but your Hashira colleagues and Tanjiro let out also surprised sounds.

“I think we all need a refresher and young Tanjiro can benefit from hearing it.”, added Oyakata-Sama.

You nodded, an order was an order, even if you did wonder why you should tell your story and began: “It happened exactly 340 years ago. I was a normal seventeen year old girl living my life. Then one night, all changed for me. The Demon King killed my family and turned me into a demon. I became like the Kitsune from our folktales, I was powerful, even so young. Kibutsuji called me his crown jewel. His best creation. For a good 100 years, I was under his rule. I…I killed and eat lots of people, sometimes whole villages. I know it was wrong, but my bloodlust was so strong. But slowly over the years, I regained more of my humanity. I got so strong that I finally could flee from Kibutsuji. I roomed this land, only eating humans who were considered monsters. Murders, rapists, pedophiles. I felt I did something good. Then one day I stumbled over an old shrine where the fox goddess Inari was worshipped. The Miko’s who lived there were old and frail. It didn’t stop robbers to enter the sanctuary and trying to steal the treasures. I protected the woman, killing the man. The Miko’s thought of me as a godsend by Inari herself, begging me to stay with them, which a did for a few years. Then one day the Master of the Demon Slayer Corps of that time and two of his strongest Hashira appeared. The Master begged that I joined their cause, which I did since I want to personal put Kibutsuji’s head on a stake. It was not simple to be accepted by the other Hashira’s. I still needed to eat human flesh to survive, the sun still burned me. It took nearly 100 years till I was so respected in the Corps that no one doubted my devotion. I saw a lot of Masters and Hashiras come and go, helped to raise future Demon Slayers, and worked on myself to reign more of my humanity. For a good 50 years now, I only need blood to survive, which comes from volunteers. 10 years ago I managed to finally master the ability to walk in the sun. I came a long way from Kibutsuji pet monster Kitsune to now being the proud Hashira Inari. And that’s my story.”

“I want you all to remember Inari-San story.”, advised Oyakata-Sama. “My Ancestor saw the potential of having a good demon on our side. Like how I see potential in Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado. Both will be Demon Slayer and I want you to accept my decision.”

It was so silent you could hear a needle drop.

Curious you glanced at the other Hashira’s. A lot seemed to struggle with this decision, but they also KNOW you for ages, some of them you babysit as children, they knew a demon could be good and control themselves.

On the other hand, this was you and Nezuko they didn’t know.

Himejima found first his words: “Even if it’s what you desire, Master, I cannot agree to it. Inari-Sama is a special case, a rarity. She has more than one lifetime of experience and self-control on her side than the young demon girl.”

“I’m flamboyantly opposed as well!”, agreed Tengen. “Inari-Senpai was once one of the twelve Kizuki, she is different from other demons. I can’t see another demon being like her.”

“I shall do whatever it is you wish, Oyakata-Sama!”, said Mitsuri.

At least one was for Nezuko and Tanjiro.

“I’m fine either way… I’m going to forget soon, anyway.”, deadpanned Tokitou.

Another one on their side, maybe? Well, better than nothing.

“I won’t trust them. I won’t trust them.”, hissed Iguro formally. “In the first place, I loathe demons. It was hard enough to come to respect Inari-Senpai and trust her. And she has centuries of self-control under her belt.”

“Although I respect you with all my heart, that’s an incomprehensible notion, Master! I oppose it with everything I’ve got! Inari-Senpai is the only demon we can trust.”, proclaimed Rengoku.

“The Demon Slayer Corps’ mission is to annihilate demons.”, reminded Shinazugawa you all. “I request that you penalize both Kamado and Tomioka!”

Oyakata-Sama turned to you.

“Inari-San, you are on both sides. Tell me…what do you think about Kamado Nezuko.”

You licked your lips, carefully selecting the words you wanted to say.

“Kamado Nezuko…is different. That is clear. She could detect that I’m a demon, even if I was using my Blood Demon Art. She could smell it on me.”

You formally felt how the other Hashira were losing their shit after that revelation. No one besides Muzan or an Upper Moon should have this power.

You continued.

“She didn’t react hostile at me, let me even pick her up and carry her. Nezuko is intelligent, she doesn’t seem to have any bloodlust. I think…she is more like me than we think…no she is even better than me if she really doesn’t need human flesh or blood to survive.”

“Your conclusion, Inari-San?”

“Oyakata-Sama, if this is all right with you…I would take responsibility for Nezuko and Tanjiro Kamado. I’m even ready to put my life on the line. If Nezuko will eat a single human, then you can kill me with her. I won’t fight.”

That made all Hashira really lose their nerves.

“Inari-Chan, no!”, screamed Mitsure, tears in her eyes.

“Senpai, that’s crazy, we can’t lose you!”, shouted Rengoku.

You know he had a soft spot for you. When his father was a Hashira and he was a young boy, you would often play with him and even babysit him. You are pretty sure you even changed some diapers of his.

“Inari-Senpai, that’s dumb and so not like you. You really want to put your life at stake for another demon?”, wonder Obanai.

Before it really could get out of control Oyakata-Sama wanted you all to hear this letter from the former Water Hashira and your old friend Sakonji Urokodaki.

Hinaki read aloud how Tanjiro should be allowed to be accompanied by his demon sister. That Nezuko had resilient mental strength and has not lost her human emotions. Even in a starved state, she never devoured humans, and this has held true more than two years later. Although the situation seems somewhat far-fetched, it is an indisputable fact. Then came the bomb in which your old friend, Tomioka, and even Tanjiro promised to commit ritual suicide, if Nezuko should kill a human.

As you promised a few minutes ago. All right, you said they could kill you too, but it was the same thing in a way.

Your nose tickled with the salty fragrance of tears. Tanjiro was crying silent and thankful tears. He seemed so glad and relieved that at least three people were on his and Nezuko’s side.

He was a good young man, you felt it.

“So what if they commit ritual suicide and Inari-Senpai lets us kill her?”, growled Shinazugawa. “If you want to die, then rot for all I care! It’s no guarantee! Not by a long shot!”

Rengoku wanted to say something, probably agreeing with him, but you calmly turned to Shinazugawa and said ice-cold: “And yet you trust me?”

“W-What?”

“Kamado Nezuko has never devoured human flesh, where I, I eat and killed more than a thousand, and still to this day I need blood. She is better than me, yet you and anybody else can’t wait for to decapitate her and her brother who loves her so dearly and would do anything for her.”, you scolded.

Nearly everyone looked ashmead.

They were based, they knew that.

Was it because they grow up with you as a parental/sisterly figure or you earned their trust.

They weren’t thinking rationally, but with their emotions, and they were in chaos.

Only Tanjiro looked at you like…you were a divine being, coming to Earth to help him and his sister.

You fought off a blush and pointedly didn’t look in his direction. These dark red eyes with heartful tears in them were too much to handle.

“The fact is that Nezuko has refrained from devouring humans for more than two years, and also that there are three people and one demon risking their lives for her.”, sums up Oyakata-Sama. “To reject this notion, those who reject it must offer an even more convincing argument.”

Shinazugawa gave an angry grumble.

“Do you all have the will to do so?”

No one said anything, and that’s when Oyakata-Sama let the next bomb drop: “Also, there’s something I’d like to relay to you, my children. Tanjiro here has met Kibutsuji.”

You Hashiras being shocked was the understatement of the century.

Your chin meets the floor. Tanjiro meet the fucking asshole and lived?

What?!

“No, impossible!”, yelled Tengen. “After Inari-Senpai joined us 200 years ago no one has ever crossed paths with him?!”

“Is the bastard still high and mighty as ever? I hope you didn’t battle him. He probably has a new hidey-hole, did you see it?”, you shoot your questions at him, like bullets from a pistol.

The others shoot their own question at him, like what he looked liked, what his powers were, and so on.

Poor Tanjiro was clearly overwhelmed with you all shouting questions at him so Oyakata-Sama called you all to order.

“Kibutsuji has sent pursuers after Tanjiro. Though his purpose may simply be to silence him, now that Kibutsuji’s given himself away for the first time, I don’t want to let go. I also believe something’s happening to Nezuko that Kibutsuji never saw coming. Not unlikely with what happened with Inari-San. One of his own Upper Moon betraying him must have shocked him, even if it was so long ago. Can you try to understand?”

Boarheaded Shinazugawa refused to understand the Masters reasons. He was so fixed in his mindset that all demons needed to be killed, that he couldn’t see another way. Not that you could blame him, after what he experienced as a child.

Then he actually slices his arm to let the blood drop on Nezuko’s box to coax her out!

Good thing you weren’t hungry or else you would probably start sucking.

Of course, Nezuko comes not out, hello sunlight, which Obanai reminds Sanemi, and the white-haired Hashira jumps into the mansion and then again stabs Nezuko through the box.

That’s when you see red.

One second you look human, the next your whisker marks get deeper, your hair turns orange, fox ears and a tail grow and you know your eyes turn red.

With a growl you jump between Sanemi and Nezuko’s box, holding in an iron grip his Katana.

“That’s enough, Sanemi! As your Senpai I say: Stand down!”, you growl in your demonic voice.

It’s deeper more animalist than your human one.

This all took place in a few seconds, so of course, all are like statues and don’t know what to do.

They know not to cross you when you show your true self. You were a one-woman army, worth a thousand Demon Slayers.

Nonetheless, Sanemi gets his bearing back.

“Senpai, you would face off against one of your comrades for a demon?!”

“She is an innocent being, I won’t let you egg her on. You practically play with fire here!”

“Innocent being?! That’s a demon and I just want to prove to you all how dangerous she really is!”

That’s when you all hear how the box opens. Growling, with saliva running down her muzzle Nezuko stands up from it.

Fast she grips your arm and puts you behind her.

What is she…?

“What is happening?”, ask Oyataka-Sama his daughters.

“The younger demon seems to protect Inari-Sama. She put herself between Inari-Sama and Shinazugawa-Sama.”, responds Hinaki.

So you aren’t imagining things.

“Come on demon attack me.”, taunts her Sanemi. “You didn’t like me yelling at one of your kind and you want my blood. Show everyone your true self.”

It seems like an eternity passes, but Nezuko just turns away from Sanemi and hugs you.

You feel her shaking in your arms, she is fighting against her bloodlust, but she is winning.

“Good girl.”, you coo at her, hugging her back. “You are a good girl.”

Again the Master asks what happened and both his daughter tell him what transpired.

“So now, it’s been proven that Nezuko won’t attack humans, right?”, declares Oyakata-Sama.

Well, no one can argue anymore.

In the end, Tanjiro and Nezuko were now accepted as Demon Slayers and their quest was to defeat the Twelve Kizuki and the Demon King himself.

Tanjiro promised that they would do their best.

Then Shinobu pointed out that he needed medical attention, so the Kakushi arrived to take Tanjiro and Nezuko.

You helped Nezuko back into her box, giving her forehead a kiss and a promise that you would see her soon. She made cute agreeing noises at you.

Never seeing how Tanjiro looked at you, a fox-demon, been so kind and good to his sister, filling his heart with new emotions.

After the Kamado’s Siblings were gone with the Kakushi, the Hashira Meeting could take place.

You switched back into your human form and follow after the other to the meeting room.

Oyakata-Sama with his two daughters by his side sits before you. The room was dark only illuminated with lamps and you all sit in seiza before him.

You talked about how the quality of the Demon Slayer has gone bad, how this era changed so much, and how the Demon King let this chaos happen with his Lower Moon to hide his traces.

The Master let all, besides you, go, with the words that you were the best Demon Slayer since the Feudal Era.

You expected a scolding for acting out of line today, showing your true self, and commanding Sanemi, but the Master just wanted your honest opinion.

You were the oldest, you have seen death and life come and go.

Was the way the Demon Slayer Corps took the right one?

You only said this.

“Oyakata-Sama. I think we found valuable assets in Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado. These two are something special. They are full…of sunlight. And sunlight is the best against demons.”

The Fox And The Sun

Demon and Demon Slayer in one? A paradox, but you were the living proof. For two good centuries, you served the Demon Slayer Corps as the Fox-Hashira, only in your mind your revenge against the Demon King, who had made you a demon. It took a kind boy with the sun in his soul to remind yourself of your humanity. Fox-Demon!ReaderXTanjiro Kamado

The Fox And The Sun

I gave the Spider Family a big sister so Reader-Chan had to fight someone. Hope you all are okay with that.

Now on with the story.

Chapter 1: The Fox Hashira

When you and your two Hashira colleagues arrived on Mt. Natagumo you found slaughter Demon Slayers everywhere.

After smelling this much blood, the familiar hunger in you came up. You gulped down the excessive saliva, ignoring your demonic instincts.

You weren’t anymore the monster Kitsune. The one who slaughters whole villages for human flesh.

For a good 50 years now, you could survive only on blood from volunteers.

Didn’t stop Tomioka to give you a worried glance, while Shinobu took your hand.

“All good?”, she whispered. “I have a blood bag with me in any case.”

 You squeezed her hand.

“I would appreciate it.”

You didn’t want to risk anything. Better have a full belly to be on the safer side.

Wordless Shinobu handed you the blood bag and you started right away to drink it.

Ah, B negative.

Tasty.

Tactful both Tomioka and Shinobu let you drink in peace, not commenting on it, while they talked with each other. Well, Shinobu talked and Tomioka just stared at the dead bodies.

“Were you acquainted with any of them?”, the female Hashira wondered. “There don’t seem to be any survivors around here. We were advised that several rookie Mizunoto had joined the battle, but they might be dead by now, don’t you think?”

“As soon as Inari-San is done, we go.”, answered her Tomioka simply.

You gulped down the last bit of blood and nodded.

“Let’s go.”

You three started to run through the forest.

“Isn’t the moon lovely?”, asked Shinobu.

She and her small talk.

You humored her. “Indeed.”

You could see how she smiled at you.

“Since we’ve been given this joint mission, let’s try to get along.”, she directed her next words to Tomioka.

You and her got along without problems.

Since you joined the Demon Slayer Corps you had been friends with the family Kocho. You remember holding Shinobu as a little baby in your arms, while…while you gave Kanae a piggyback ride.

No matter how many deaths you witnessed, it always hurt to lose people.

And in your long life, you had lost a lot of beloved people.

Tomioka answered Shinobu with a simple: “I’m only here to slay some demons.”

“How callous of you!”, she tutted then turned to you two. “All right, then, let’s split up here. I shall proceed from the west.”

“I will take the north.”, you offered.

The only male agreed and you all were off to your directions.

Soon you found yourself in a clearing, which made you wrinkle your nose in disgust.

These were once human bodies, but they were melted like ice cream in the hot summer sun.

Thankful you weren’t that distracted by the rotten smell and scene before you because you clearly heard how someone tried to spit on you.

No kidding.

In an elegant flick-flack, you jumped to safety, drawing your Katana.

“Ara, ara, little human, stay still, it won’t hurt much.”, promised a female voice.

It was a young woman with white hair in an elegant bun. She wore a pretty white kimono with some red details. Her face was painted with red circles.

A lower demon.

Spider.

You smelled it in the air around her.

One of your Blood Demon Arts was transformation, like the Kitsune from folklore. Besides the whisker marks on your cheek, you appeared to anyone completely human. Nothing gave away your demonic existence.

Only a high-ranking Upper Moon and Muzan self could see through your illusion.

“Mmh, you are a cute one.”, cooed the Spider-Demon. “Sadly I have to kill you.”

Her cheeks became round and she spits at you a fountain that could only be poison.

You were more than ready for her.

Total concentration! Fox-Breathing! Third Form! Up and About!

It seemed like you vanished on the spot, only to appear over her, on your side two copies of yourself. The first copy slashed her from left to right, the second from right to left and you slashed her neck.

The demon was dead before she realized what happened.

Calmy you sheeted your Katana, watching how she dissolved in million pieces.

This wasn’t the Lower Moon of this mountain.

So you kept on searching.

On your search, you found Demon Slayer comrades imprisoned in spider webs and even in giant balls of spider threads. You cut through all and saved their lives.

You order the freed prisoners to wait for the Kakushi and kept searching for the Lower Moon.

That’s when you heard one of the kasugai crows calling loudly: “Tanjiro and the demon Nezuko are to be taken back to headquarters alive!”

Shocked you stopped and stared at the crow flying over your head.

Did you hear right?!

“Tanjiro, dressed in a checkered haori, with a scar on his forehead! Nezuko, a female demon with a bamboo muzzle! Bring them back! Bring them back!”

You did!

What could this all mean?!

You didn’t think and let your instinct wash over you.

In one second you were running on two human legs in the next you took the form of a fox as big as a horse, racing through the forest to find this demon named Nezuko.

Was she like you?

Why else would they keep a demon alive?

You run as fast as you could, soon reaching a familiar girl with a side ponytail and a butterfly clip in her hair.

You transformed back into your human form, reaching her.

“Kanao-Chan.”, you called and she turned to you. You could now see over what she had been crouching.

It looked like a little pretty girl with a bamboo muzzle.

That must be Nezuko, the description of her and what you smelled told you all.

Kanao made a deep bow.

“Inari-Sama.”

You patted her head and once again asked her to drop this. You know Kanao since she was a little girl, she didn’t need to bow before you and give you the Sama title.

You told Kanao you would take over now and she should help with the Kakushi.

Of course, she did as she was told, so you could crouch down to Nezuko’s level.

She had wonderful pink eyes, looking at you in curiosity. Her little nose moved, she smelled the air, then gave you a surprised look.

No…she couldn’t tell?

Could she?

“Do you know…I’m like you?”, you asked her quietly.

Nezuko gave you a tiny nod, making cute noises.

Gosh, she was adorable.

“Come. Can I pick you up and then let’s find your brother.”, you cooed at her sweetly.

Like a toddler, she raised her arms and you place her on your hip.

Strange.

She felt warm.

Like a sunray.

That was untypical for a demon.

Nezuko was really like you it seemed.

Together you picked up a wooden box in which, Nezuko crawled in after the sun began to rise.

So she still wasn’t immune to sunlight.

You wonder for how long she had been a demon.

“Inari-Sama, Inari-Sama!”, voices called for you.

It was two Kakushi, one had a boy with a scar and checkered haori over his shoulder.

“This must be the brother of my little demon friend in the box.”, you mussed.

The boy had a soft but handsome face. You really liked his hair color. Dark red was something unique.

Also, you felt warm coming from him. Warm like the sun.

He was as strange as his sister.

Human didn’t feel so warm to you, but the presence of the boy seemed to nearly burn you.

Curious, simply curious.

The Fox And The Sun

It was now fully morning and you stand beside Mitsuri and the other Hashira around the sleeping Tanjiro in the Demon Slayer Headquarters.

Goto from the Kabushi tried to wake him up. Not gently mind you. He seemed one step away from kicking the young boys behind.

Finally, he woke up, staring in utter confusion at you all.

“Bummer. I heard he was a Demon Slayer with a demon in tow, so I was looking forward to seeing someone more flamboyant…”, trailed off Tengen. “But that’s one drab-looking dude, huh?”

“Yes! And now, we’ll put this boy on trial! I see!”, said Rengoku.

Mitsuri was holding into one of your arms. You swore you could hear her think how beautiful this all was with Tanjiro protecting his demon sister.

Still confused Tanjiro tried to sit up, asking who you guys were, only for Goto to push him back down again.

“Don’t open your mouth just yet, you moron! Just who do you think is standing before you?!”, scolded the Kakushi. “You’re in the presence of the Hashiras!”

You could clearly see how Tanjiro had no idea what a Hashira was. He must be for a short time a Demon Slayer.

Shinobu stepped forward to give the lost boy at least some answers: “This is the Demon Slayers’ headquarters. And you’re about to be put on trial… Kamado Tanjiro-Kun.”

You formally tasted his desperation in the air.

“Before we start the trial, why don’t you explain the crime you’ve comm –“

“There’s no need for a trial!”, interrupted Rengoku Shinobu. “Protecting a demon is a clear violation of the code! We’re within our rights to deal with him on our own! We’re going to behead him along with the demon!”

“In that case, I’ll be glad to decapitate him flamboyantly. I’ll show you the most flamboyant blood spray you’ll ever see. I’m talking max flamboyance.”, boosted Tengen himself up.

Mitsuri gripped harder your arm, whispering: “Inari-Chan, can’t you do something? For you was made an exception, why not for this boy and his sister too?”

“I’m thinking…”, you whisper back.

The truth was you weren’t sure if you could pull Rank on anybody before they turned Tanjiro and his sister into sliced pieces of meat.

Yes, you were the oldest.

Yes, you were the strongest.

But you weren’t Oyakata-Sama. He called the shots.

While you were having your little crisis Himejima pitied Tanjiro, Tokitou was lost in his own thoughts and Tanjiro self seemed to look for Nezuko, which in turn made Goto angry, since the boy didn’t give you all the respect you earned.

Himejima, Rengoku, and Uzui were ready to just kill Tanjiro there and now.

Okay, you needed to say something.

You clapped your hands loudly so that all turned to you.

“We are not going to kill the boy and his sister.”, you told them. “Yes, technically he broke the rules, but it wouldn’t be the first time the Demon Slayer Corps made an exception. We shall wait for Oyakata-Sama’s decision. So if one of you tries to harm them, I gonna pull Rank on all of you and beat your asses until next week understood?!”

Your Hashira colleagues mumbled all together a yes senpai, while Tanjiro looked at you in aww.

You did your best not to turn red under his pretty red eyes. Red eyes normally meant evil, yet his red was so pretty and soft that you wanted to dive in.

You stopped your train of thoughts alone. No, more than friendship with humans would break your heart. You can’t forget that.

That’s when Tanjiro called where Nezuko was and the names of his friends.

But the only one responding to him was Iguro, chilling like always on the tree with his snake Kaburamaru: “Forget that. What will we do with Tomioka?”

Automatically you all turned to the Water Pillar, who was standing alone a few meters away from you.

“Seeing him there without any restraints is giving me a headache. Based on what Kochou told us, Tomioka is just as guilty of breaking Corps rules.”, reminded Iguro. “How will we deal with him? How should we make him take responsibility? What kind of lesson should we teach him? Don’t you have anything to say, Tomioka?”

Tomioka, of course, said nothing. Shinobu meant that this wasn’t important right now, since he did come back here without the need to use force and she was more interested why Tanjiro had a demon with him, even if it’s against the rules.

The young boy tried to explain, yet thanks to his wounds only coughs came out of his mouth. You smelled a bit of blood in the air.

Tanjiro needs healing, not an interrogation, yet you couldn’t do anything right now.

At least Shinobu gave him some water with painkillers in it. After he took a good sip, Tanjiro told you how his whole family had been slaughtered by a demon, leaving only him and his transformed sister behind. He swore up and down that she never hurt and never would hurt a human.

You formally felt how all Hashira’s looked at you. You know, they wanted you to talk with him.

If Nezuko was any bit like you, you were the best to talk to Tanjiro.

“She never tasted human flesh?”, you asked. “Never? Not even blood?”

“No! She uses sleep to regain her energy!”

“Absurd.”, Obonai shook his head. “Even Inari-Senpai needs to drink blood and she is over two centuries old! If she’s family, no wonder you’re defending her. I can’t trust a single word you’re saying. I, for one, don’t believe you.”

Tanjiro blinked confused, while you all tried not to facepalm.

Awesome Obonai!

Just tell a not Hashira straight away that a demon is in the Ranks of the Hashira.

The snake Hashira realized that he probably thought out aloud and seemed to blush under his bandages.

“Forgive me…”, he called ashamed of himself over to you.

You waved your hand.

What was done was done.

Now you heard Tanjiro gasp for air.

“You…you are a demon? But you smell nothing like one!”

“Are you implying I smell bad?”, you shoot back angrily, which made nearly everyone laugh, and Tanjiro stutters.

“N-No! Y-You smell nice, human!”

“Nice safe, boy.”, cackled Tengen and you hit him with your elbow in his stomach.

The sound Hashira nearly toppled over.

“Tengen-Kun, shut it or I’m telling on your wives.”, you said with a fake sweet smile.

He gave you a thumbs up. Good, he still knew where his place was.

You decide to kneel with Shinobu before Tanjiro.

“Kamado Tanjiro.”, you began. “I’m since two centuries a part of the Demon Slayer Corps and lived before that a century as a "normal" demon. For 50 years I haven’t eaten human flesh and I’m happy with blood. Yet you claim your sister never ever had either. How long has she been a demon?”

“T-Two years, ma’am.”

“Do you see the problem here, my colleagues have with your narrative? I’m a good demon too, I fight against my own kind for humanity, yet it took me decades to be there where I am now and your sister, so young, already managed?”

“I know it sounds crazy, but it’s true! Please if you really are a demon, you must have smelled something different on Nezuko.”

Before you could answer you heard Shinazugawa’s voice: “Well, well, I see you have some fun brewing here. Is that the moron Slayer who has a demon with him? What the hell are you trying to pull here?”

Shinobu and you stood up and face your follow Hashira.

“What are you doing with Nezuko’s box?”, you demanded to know.

“Shinazugawa, please don’t act out of line.”, added Shinobu.

Of course, he didn’t listen and mocked Tanjiro.

“What did you say about that demon, kid? That she can fight as a Demon Slayer to protect humans? She is not Inari-Senpai with over 100 years of experience and even our senpai still needs blood to survive. Do you know what we call that? A total delusion, you moron!”

Then he gets his katana out and steps Nezuko through the box! You feel how your canines grow and a growl comes out of your mouth. Shinobu grips you by the shoulders so you don’t tackle Shinazugawa to the ground.

You were biased, you know that.

You already liked Nezuko, you felt a connection to her. There weren’t many good demons like you and her. Seeing her getting hurt by one of your Hashira colleagues made the demon in you come out.

Luckily for you, Tanjiro freacking headbutted Shinazugawa and took the box from him. It showed how much he really loved his sister. He didn’t care who hurt her, he would make them pay twice for it.

You stopped growling and your canines shrunk back.

For now, you were calm again.

You hoped Oyakata-Sama would soon arrive, this meeting was a powder kettle ready to explode!
